What an embarrassment this state is to the Miss America organization. Why do you think a Miss Maryland has never won at Miss America? The director knows better.... My daughter competed as a teen with Destiny at Miss MD USA a few years ago and fell in love with her instantaneously as did many other contestants and when she placed 4RU EVERYONE clapped for her including my daughter who made it to the top 15!.....smh at least Miss USA is real about what they do and pick real quality girls who have actually won Miss USA before. Their organization also has a lot more support to back them AND they know how to deal with loons like you. I really hope she goes back before she ages out....based on what I've heard from her though I don't think she will. I'm sure it had to be a nightmare dealing with you crazy people!!!! Every time I mention it to her she changes the subject.....How she stayed so poised and calm through it all still boggles my mind. I also think that she stood out on stage amongst those classless loons because she was humble, real and didn't tolerate their bullshit.... she just focused on being her best self and doing well.... and that my friends is why she won! The judges could easily see through their fake smiles and probably saw the humble, kind, and talented person Destiny really is. The only thing that they could do to make themselves feel better was ostracize her from their clique, make fun of her traumatic past, spread invalid lies, stir up high school type drama, and show a lack of class on stage. The ones who didn't clap showed their true selves that night and based on that none of them would have deserved to win anyway!!!!Destiny did a superb job as Miss Maryland and made us so proud at Miss America! In staying in touch with her over the years I can say that she is truly a very classy woman who is beautiful from the inside out! To be honest, her and Hannah were my favorite! Lastly, to wrap up this perfectly justified rant I have to say it is so nice to see her THRIVING on FB despite all of the haters who tried to drag her down.....and I have faith that she will only keep rising.....it is very apparent that she deeply cares about helping others and that she is a good person. Look at her now.... she managed to become a preschool teacher, she is still in a happy adorable relationship with Mr. Chase, she is back in school, she is singing and writing music again, AND she is still advocating her platform by mentoring kids. This alone says EVERYTHING and proves to me that she wasn't all talk......unlike the ones "who didn't clap". I am appalled by all of the nonsense I have been reading on here about our current and former titleholders. Get a life and get over it already! Brava Destiny!!! We know you will continue to thrive in whatever you do and love and support you. As for the rest of you who continue to spread this negativity, I pray for you and hope you will start focusing on bettering your own lives instead of bringing down good girls..... She brought her boy friend to the hotel, while it was a severe violation to the rules! But Sherri and Co put her above the rules! (Hence the fury of other contestants, fanned by Jade) She was clumsy on stage, with less than average stage presence.(Look at the opening number video, it is a comedy!) She was pretty but not a "stand out". There was no surpriser in her not placing at Nationals.The only thing that she was really impressive at was her talent! She did standout there and it was an excellent little number! But judging from Kathleen's experience, talent is not that important for Miss Maryland people. Destiny, with internet pictures of her demonstrating a wad of cash tips for strutting her half-naked bud in front of a bunch of drunken men in a trashy nightclub, was not exactly the four points of a crown add.
