VoyForums Announcement: Programming and providing support for this service has been a labor of love since 1997. We are one of the few services online who values our users' privacy, and have never sold your information. We have even fought hard to defend your privacy in legal cases; however, we've done it with almost no financial support -- paying out of pocket to continue providing the service. Due to the issues imposed on us by advertisers, we also stopped hosting most ads on the forums many years ago. We hope you appreciate our efforts.

Special Forum Pages

There are a few special pages available from your forum:

*Note: Replace forum_id with your forum's ID #.

The following special pages are available from: /forum_id/...
If you are linking from outside www.voy.com, make sure to use the full URL: http://www.voy.com/forum_id/...

  1. Message database update-time page: Available at: http://www.voy.com/forum_id/update.html
This page displays the modification date of the forum's message database. This can be used by users to tell when a new message has been posted without loading the forum index. This can save bandwidth and time for the user. The date is not only updated when a message is posted, but when a database is rebuilt, restored from backup, or changed for any other reason--this means someone should not be surprised if they see this date change, but when visiting the forum index find no new messages--although it should be very rare for a database to be changed except upon a new post being made. The reason this page was added was, as mentioned before, because it can reduce on the bandwidth used by a forum, and save users time, especially in searching for the location of the new post.
  2. Forum Info/Status Page: Available at: http://www.voy.com/forum_id/info/status.html
This page contains some forum status (message counts, etc.) Please view the Message Management & Moderation #Status help page for details.
  3. Post a New Message Box: If enabled (read below) available at http://www.voy.com/forum_id/newpost.html
The "Post a New Message" box is the form in which a user enters a new message.

The form is displayed in two places: The bottom of your forum's Main Index, as well as a special page called "newpost.html".

    • You can enable/disable the post box at the bottom of your index at Display Settings -> Enable/Disable Display Features -> Display new-post form in indexes?
    • You can enable/disable a link that says "[Post a new message]" at the top of your forum at Display Settings -> Enable/Disable Display Features -> Display new post link at top of forum index? If not shown, the newpost.html page still may be accessed with your own links.

If you wish to customize your forum's HTML, you can provide your own link to either post form as well. The form at the bottom of the message index can be linked-to with the following HTML code:

    <A href="#newpost">Post a new message</A>
This will jump users down to the box.

"newpost.html" can be accessed from your forum using this URI:
      /forum_id/newpost.html
From a site outside of www.Voy.com use:
      http://www.voy.com/forum_id/newpost.html

This page contains the same post box available at the bottom of your forum. You can use it by placing a link to it in your forums Header option (available in the General Config). An example link is:

    <A href="newpost.html">Post a new message on this forum</A>
