She looked off into the breeze at the sun, which was now on it's 100 day rise. Her breeze ruffled in the semi-warm, yet damp wind. A mournful howl escaped her throat, but she ended it abruptly. She looked at Whirlwind, an idea forming in her head...but no, it did not follow her responsibility as Beta. And yet...she knew the idea would never leave her until she tried it out.
Slowly, with fear, pain, anxiety, hope and longing all stirred together in a confusing mixture in her heart, she trotted up to Whirlwind, her tail low and eyes averted, making herself humble for her request. "Whirlwind, I know this is strange, but please let me have my say before you forbid it." She paused, momentarily glancing at Whirlwind, and then looking away. But she had to do this! She forced her mouth open, and her lips continue to form the words she needed to say while her vocal chords made the sound. Her voice was soft and low when she next spoke. "I suppose I always was and always will be a loner at heart. But at the time you came to ask me into your pack, I was very lonely, so I accepted. Once I became Beta, I was afraid to leave. But the longing in my heart is still there." She took a deep breath. "I would like to be alowed to explore this land for a few weeks to get this restless feeling out of my system. If--when" she quickly corrected herself, "I return, if you wish I will no longer be Beta. SpiritShadow may take my place." She glanced away, not looking into Whirlwind's eyes. She tried not to think about the thought that lay deep within her heart--what if she did not wish to return at all?
