I think he will increase the troop strength. Paul is right on the money. What most people dont realize is that if this new and improved Taliban take over Afghanistan, Pakistan is their next target and Pakistan has nukes.

As far as Gates turning his back on the Bush admin, Gates serves at the discretion of the sitting President and supports and carries out the decisions of the sitting President.
