I'd like to add how important learning to trust oneself is, as well. For many of us who have not always played fair – we ourselves have been untrustworthy – some of us have learned that the greatest expense we pay is the ability to find trust in others. If you can't trust yourself, how can you trust anyone. Honesty and integrity are paramount. They are the basis in believing in yourself and in the possibilty of friendship.
