PARTICULAR SPECIFICATION FOR THE SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION OF OPEN PLAN DEMOUNT ABLE PARTITIONS
1. This Particular Specification shall be read in conjunction with the General Specification for Building by the Architectural Services Department, Hong Kong, 2003.
2.
(i) Any particular system offered shall be subject to the approval of the Maintenance Surveyor, and samples and details of the system shall be submitted for examination if required.
(ii) Testified noise reduction coefficients shall be submitted for items proposed to have acoustic control properties or to act as acoustic control devices.
(iii) Works tops, storage components, shelf units and case goods shall be finished both sides with 1.60 nun thick laminated plastic sheeting. All work tops attached to the panel system shall have a load carrying capability of 82 kg within 150 mm of the outside edge, whilst maximum load carrying requirements for case goods, shelves and storage components shall be 68 kg.
3. Materials for use in the construction of and f1nishes to partitions shall be new and the best of their respective kinds. All works shall be carried out by experienced labour under competent supervision and shall confirm strictly to the manufacturer's recommended procedures and-best trade practice.
4.
(i) The Contr actor shall supply fabric samples of different colours to the Maintenance Surveyor for approval before commencement of
the works. One 150 mm square shall be required for each colour. The Contractor shall also note that in order to allow proper colour co-ordination with the selected fabric, the Contractor shall allow for dyeing screen fabric to the specified and approved colours. The Maintenance Surveyor shall be consulted with and informed of all aspects of the dyeing process. The Maintenance Surveyor shall select the colours of the fabric coverings.
(ii) The Contractor shall supply evidence for the tested flammability, fastness to light, abrasion resistance, light reflectance, physical properties and strength, dimensional stability and other performance properties of the fabric to be used. Testing method must be stated either in accordance with national or international standards or with appropriate British Standards.
(iii) The Contractor shall be ready to supply screen panels to be covered with fabric and foam layers of different colours to the two sides, and to supply screen panels to be covered with fabric and foam layers of the same colour on both sides.

5. Half glazed screen partitions shall be fitted with 6 mm thick clear or tinted polished plate glass panels of various sizes on top and fabric covered screen panels at bottom. The glazed panels shall be securely fixed into slots on panel tops, transoms, mullions and end posts, complete with viny1strips or equivalent.
6. Acoustic screen panels shall comprise layers of fibreglass infill of an approved proprietary brand close-butt jointed within the partition framing and shall be covered with standard pinboards for sound absorption on both sides.
7. The end panel assembly shall have high pressure laminated plastic sheeting surfaces bonded to frames and plywood panels to provide balanced screen panels. It shall have round comers with continuous plastic nosing on three edges. The fourth (or back) edge shall have an aluminium recess standard of full length and the panels shall be locked into the connector posts. Levellers shall be provided in the lower comers to the panels with 50 mm adjustment. End panels shall be covered with fabric and foam layers on both sides.
8. The quadrant end panel of 600 mm radius shall be constructed with plywood panels and kiln dried wood frames. The fourth (or back) edge shall have an aluminium recess standard or equivalent of full length for the panels to be locked into the panel connector posts. Levellers shall be provided in the front lower comers of the panels within 50 mm adjustment. Quadrant end panels shall be covered with fabric and foam layers on both sides.
9. The power panels and trunking shall be in metal construction and shall be designed to accommodate electrical power cables and communication cables to suit the requirement for connections of electrical and communication cables to various working areas as directed by the Maintenance Surveyor. They shall be connected to all standard panels with standard connectors. The trunking and panel connectors shall be finished with paint coating. The trunking shall be
accessible on both sides and shall consist of two separate compartments for accommodation of power and communication cables. Standard approved electrical outlets shall be field installed and flush mounted on
one side or both sides of screen panels to meet various requirement of
power access.
10. (i) Works station unit, L-shaped reception counter units, work top
units, cantilevered work top units and shelf units shall be constructed with plywood finished both sides with 1.60 mm laminated and textured matt plastic sheeting and all exposed edges of plywood shall be covered with teak edging.
(ii) All furniture shall be locked into the panel connector posts, if
required, with integral locking devices and support brackets or metal clips.

11. Counter tops shall be positioned over screen panel tops and fixed with support brackets. Undersides of counter tops shall be factory pre-drilled for fixing purpose.

12. Cantilevered work tops shall be mounted to screen panels with support brackets. Integral locking devices shall be provided to lock support brackets onto screen panels and work stops.

13. Book shelf units shall be mounted to screed panels with support brackets. Ends of shelf unit shall be completed with vertical side supports.

14. (i) Drawer units shall be attached underneath cantilevered work
tops. Drawers shall have plywood front faced one side with 1.60 mm laminated and" textured matt plastic sheeting, plywood back, sides and bottom and including teak lipping to all edges and all house, grooved and glued together and shall be complete with stainless steel flush pull. Paint all weed surfaces with two coats of polyurethane varnish.

(ii)Top drawers shall be furnished with locks. Drawer leeks shall
have caps approximately 22 mm diameter with a four tumbler cylinder and a 4 mm thick brass bolt.

15. Immediately upon completion of the Works and before handing ever, the Contractor shall remove all plant, rubbish, etc., and clean up all partitions, furniture and floors and walls upon which partition and furniture works has been carried out, and leave the whole of the works in good condition ready for occupation. All disturbance to the floor and wall structures and/or finishes during the course of partition works shall be made good to match existing by the Contractor at his own expense and to the satisfaction of the Maintenance Surveyor.

16. The Contractor shall, at all times, before and during the progress of the work, co-ordinate and co-operate with all other contractors and public utilities on the Site.
