According to the chart by Satyeswarananda Ananda Mohan seems to have been an authorized disciple of Dukori Lahiri but left no successor himself.

According to Shibendu Ananda Mohan was a "difficult man" and "ganged up with Yogananda" whatever this means. It probably means that there was some family conflict between the descendants of Dukori and Tinkori Lahiri, resp., and that there exists some feeling of rivalry to Yogananda in parts of the family. Satya Charan's (son of Tinkori, father of Shibendu) photo got included among the illustrations in 'Mejda' though because, according to Shibendu, the author, Yogananda's brother Sananda Lal Ghosh, was close to Satya Charan and wanted to have his photo depicted.


Yet I beleive the other lines are fine to continue on the way the transmission has always been--in secret.

I have heard about valid no-nonsense Kriya lines in India -- not only from Yoganiketan -- but they like to remain low-key and eschew Internet presence.


Last I heard they will not compare Shibendu with Kriyananda but they say we can't vouch for the validity of the line. They will also say follow your heart.

A good advice :-) However from the point of view of Guru-disciple transmission the line is probably valid (unlike SRF leadership who are not authorized successors of Yogananda in the sense of Guru).


Does Banamali even practice kriya? I know a few people he has let in the house but it is rare he lets you in. Even the YSS monks cant get in much. I heard YSS wants the house but Lahiri's are set they will never sell it. Does this Banamali have a son?

Banamali has passed away recently; he must have been quite old. I do not know what will become of the house. Banamali and Shibendu apparently didn't like each other, but a younger relative of Banamali who lives elsewhere in India and will inherit the place is pro-Shibendu and there is a possibility that he will sell the house to Shibendu sometime. I think Shibendu with a number of well-to-do disciples backing him will have no problem in procuring the money. For Indian standards the house is quite expensive, it is big.

Shibendu has spent his childhood in the old Lahiri house till 1951 when his father moved to Satyalok nearly a mile off. He would like to spend his old age in his childhood home and possibly keep the house as a shrine dedicated to Lahiri Mahasaya.

At the same time SRF will be trying to get hold of the house, and probably like Shibendu turn it into a museum or shrine.

However it turns out, the house is now located in a muslim area, and people there would like to either tear it down or expunge the Hindu atmosphere about it. At least this is what Shibendu is afraid of.
