Subject: Scotland 2005 Highlights

Anyway, here are my highlights.

1. We have a LEGITIMATE Scottish level drum section in the Grade 3 band. Dave and the rest of the snare line and mid section worked extremely hard and it showed. You guys really did an awesome job.

2. The Grade 4 Band’s rise from a bunch of pipers and drummers who had never competed to become a respectable band that made the middle of the pack at the Worlds.

3. The Grade 3 Band’s ability to shake off early mistakes at North Berwick and the Worlds and actually play better – instead of melting down like we have in the past. This shows the level of maturity we have attained as a band.

4. The Highlands. I got to see the Highlands for the first time, even though I have made two other trips to the Worlds. The Highlands are stunning and pictures do not begin to do justice to what is really there.

5. Toronado fighter jets roaring down Loch Linnie at sunset.

6. Terry and Alan Tully opening their concert with The Breaking of Day, followed by the band’s entry. It gave me chills.

Chris
