I can tell this bothers you greatly that the schedule is interrupted - and I agree its not good, esp for the girls in wigs/makeup. However the judges are not paid hourly - cost nothing extra for this. The stages are already being used for the championships - cost nothing. The awards are cheap and inexpensive - medals/ribbons in bulk from China, possible cheap small trophies at minimal cost. They do not have to pay for “stage time” bc they aren't expected to pay the cost of lightening and heating/air conditioning the space. The space is paid for with their contracts for the ballrooms. Using your numbers - if they made 15k they MIGHT have to spend 2k-3k netting 12K profit. Thats no chump change and yes makes a dent in the needed funds. Adding extra ceili also helps too offset costs.As a champ mom I would prefer the fee be doubled for my dancers championship and have emptier ballrooms and quicker rounds but thats not under my control. Some people would not want to pay that extra.
I hope it runs smoothly but know it likely wont. If we can just not have smoke from the steakhouse restaurant filling my dancers ballroom this year like it did last time at the Anatole I will call it a good day.
