Subject: Ball Tampering

Given the farce that the fourth test turned out to be, and having heard a few other opinions on the matter I thought it only fair to add my two cents.
In my opinion:
Pakistan were punished for altering the condition of the ball - we do not know if this is justified or not.
It is the umpires call to make this decision and not any of the players, otherwise will we have people deciding to go home when they dont think they are out LBW etc? Or will we all just sit down for a few hours and talk about it?
If Pakistan wanted to make a point (which if they were innocent i have no problem with) then they should have ceased played immediately or dealt with it after the match. They should not have (as a Pakistani Cheif exec(?) suggested on tv) just wanted to make a point by sitting in the changing room for a few minutes before coming out a wee bit later. For the record I dont think they would have come out at all.
Mr Hair was within his right not to come out again. The Pakistan team surely knew a 2 minute 'delay' would lose them the match, as a result the lost and should have taken it on the chin instead of saying 'we are now ready to play again but is seems the umpires are not'. Pot Kettle Black anyone? Apart from of course the umpires were in the right to do so by the rules of the game. Or should they have not applied to Pakistan?
If Mr Hair has a problem with the Pakistanis in general then this should be addressed as this is not right for a man in his position, or indeed anyone.
Finally with regards to the ICC punishing of Inzy, I think this is a flawed rule. If you cant catch the culprit (which is not to say nothing has happened) then only punish the team as a whole (ie more docked points/points awarded to other team). However just becasue there seems to be no concrete evidence in this case doesnt mean that nothing went on, i accept tho that it doesnt mean something did happen.

Also the press is really going OTT on it i think. The death of test match cricket? I dont think so. Mr Hair I hope will continue to umpire tests with any team featuring until it can be proven he is bias. Teams cannot be let to pick the conditions under which they will play!
