I appreciate you posting about what you have seen at the common area. No, as I have stated many times, I am not a basketball player. What I am is a person who is tired of government sticking its nose into the private lives of citizens and government not doing what it was designed to do. I have tried to make head-or-tails of the whole "homeowners' associations" issue. I don't even know how they can be Constitutionally legal, how they can be overseen by the government authorities, or even how they can be dissolved. It is really a very convoluted mess! Regardless, taking down the courts is not answering the real issue, is it? Think about your situation. The guys were assaulting you. Did you realize that? When they told you "Fu...bi..., and what are you gonna do about ? and when they walked toward you and told you to "step off, or they'll step you off", they were committing the crime of "assault". Rather than them being arrested, they were told to move their cars and calm down. That, in my opinion, was the wrong answer. If the neighborhood doesn't have basketball courts, it won't change my life much, in fact, I might even vote to remove them (Surprise you?), my issue isn't with the basketball courts, my issues are a board of directors who are making wrong decisions, making decisions they have no right to make, and a city government that is either not being given the things it needs to help us or that won't help us. The board of directors of this homeowner's association have a responsibility to "govern" the common areas, which means if they perceive that there is a problem with some of the people who visit the common area they need to press charges if necessary.
