As if school and the holidays and a newborn baby weren't enough, he was now having to deal with added pressure from his parents. They had passed right on by being disappointed that he had a child and had complicated his life, and now were focused mostly on the fact that he was unmarried. Children out of wedlock were frowned upon in their socialite circle - not because of religious reasons, but because that sort of drama was supposed to go on only in the background. So, he had decided to take the day off of life in general, and so was officially not answering his cellphone - which of course had been ringing non-stop all day. Caitlin was out somewhere with the baby, and he was sprawled on the couch in just black lounging pants, watching television. Whenever his phone buzzed, he glanced over at it and watched to make sure it didn't vibrate right off the table, but he didn't bother checking caller ID and didn't even consider answering. The world would not implode if he was unreachable for twenty-four hours. Used to be when he was a kid, he could disappear to Cabo for the weekend, or to Denver for a few nights, and no one would be surprised when they couldn't find him, but something had changed in the last year or so and he just felt the need to slow things down a bit...

She was more excited about christmas this year than she could ever remember being, ever. They had been out picking the perfect tree this morning and she was now decorating it, with a good old christmas favourite on in the background and Ethan in his baby chair, staring up at the twinkling lights and shiney things. Her dark hair was left loose, a pair of black lounge pants and a red hoody her festive 'getup' for the afternoon. She was delighted to see it snowing outside , and now she was just waiting for him to return home from visiting his parents. She had been holding her tongue as best she could about him not telling them about Ethan yet... she didnt care what he told them about her but she felt a little protective of her son.

Ethan had come along right on time... almost to the day- he was born at two minutes past midnight just over a month ago. Caitlin had taken well to motherhood- much to everyones suprise she imagined- and already Ethan was proving to be a mama's boy through and through. The birth hadn't been especially horrible- at least- not in hiindsight- and she had recovered from it quickly. She felt pretty grown up for her twenty one years as she leant over the babies cradle, lulling him to sleep for his afternoon nap, waiting for Nick to get home from school. She had been pretty guarded with Nick- as far as she was concerned at least. She was prone to offering her heart far too rashly and that had always resulted in her being hurt- from the rape and abortion when she was younger to this- only this time she had been strong enough to make her own decisions rather than relying on her parents to fix it for her. Despite her reservations though- even with school in session Nick was still trying hard- he had taken her to the hospital and called her brother and held her hand through the whole thing...

The summer had been hopeful- she had to admit he had impressed her- though her brother was not in the least amused and had accused her of being selfish and foolish more than once. And while she was giving him a second chance... she was cautious with her heart. Especially now as it was time for him to start back at school and as she was getting closer and closer to her due date. In all honesty she expected him to run and take cover as it all came to this stage. It was a lot to take on as young as they were... but she had made her decision long ago and she was sticking to it. She lounged on the couch with her pup, watching day time tv shows as she lay curled in the couch, ruffling Diesels head affectionately. She was due in just two weeks and she was so restless it was rare for her to take a few minutes- but she found herself so exhausted.

A few days ago, he had heard a nasty little rumor that a certain inconsiderate, immature, preppy rich kid was back in town, and the moment he got a free moment he wanted to come see his sister to check on how true that rumor was. So, here he was, faded jeans fit to his hips and a long-sleeved back tee to his torso - casual wear for his casual day, that he wasn't too happy to have to be spending investigating the return of his baby sister's unpredictable on-again, off-again boyfriend. Normally, Nick would be just his type of kid - a fun guy to hang around with, entertaining at least, and hell, Luc would probably have given the guy a job if he ever needed or wanted it. But the fact of the matter was that this kid was getting his sister into far more trouble than his sister should ever be involved in, and he just didn't want him around anymore. Raising a hand, he knocked at the door and then took a step back to wait patiently, arms crossed over his chest.

The moment he had come to the realization that he was falling hard for her, he had panicked horribly and made what he was pretty sure now was a mistake. Despite his delinquent tendencies, he was on the dean's list and the only son of very influential parents, so when he had called his dad at Christmastime to tell him that he wanted to transfer schools right away, his father had him a seat at Brown less than two days later. So, he'd been gone for nearly six months, and hadn't really spoken to anyone from here since he had left, so he didn't have the slightest idea what was going on. He'd spent the first couple weeks at school testing out the girls, and then settled on one to call his 'girlfriend' for about two months, but then it had fallen to pieces - as all of his relationships always did - mostly because he had started to miss her. Of course, picking up the phone and giving her a call was totally not his style, so he pined all through the end of the term and final exams, and then finally hopped on a plane to come back here. Maybe she wouldn't put a bullet in his chest when she saw him, and maybe she wouldn't have replaced him, and maybe she might actually be happy to see him... Either way, he had to come back to see here, no matter what the result would be.

Given that he was someone who never really committed to anything, he was about as devoted as her as he had been to anything his entire life - though that meant little though. However, he was always willing to do whatever she wanted when they were together, as long as she was enjoying herself - which was how he ended up with the brand new stylish tribal tattoo that spread across his shoulderblades... Letting her lead the way in, a small smirk played over his lips as his eyes lingered over her. "Happy?"

She dozed contently in his arms, listening to him breathing. It was the first morning she'd woken without wishing she hadn't since she'd first thought she was pregnant, even her arguement with Luc wasn't getting her down.
