He had never been a model student - all of the ability in the world but none of the ambition - and he had made a lot of mistakes already in his young life, but his parents had their own ideas about the way that the world worked. Either way though, he wasn't making his decision to be with her because of anything to do with them - for once he was making this call on his own.
