Been thinking about Mercy and Hard Landing (r)

Mostly, of course, because I just watched them on my slow journey through S1-S3.

And I got to wondering, what do think would have happened to Section, but more specifically, to Paul and Madeline if Nikita had died in Mercy? - say, the SOTW had killed her rather than winged her at the same time he killed poor Stanley Shayes?

Do you think their stories would have played out, more or less, the same? (i.e. in a mess of internal politics, with early deaths for both of them?)

Or was Nikita a crucial factor in their fate - if only to the extent that she was the rock that started the avalanche - or even more important - their nemesis in some important way?
