I'm sorry Gill!! I will at least get a start right now! As a child we belonged to a club with swimming pools and tennis courts and all sorts of things to amuse. While my parents were playing tennis, and thought I was swimming I used to sneek behind the club into the valley which had several ranches with animals like goats, sheep, horses etc. I spent time communing with the animals, and then there is this place I would go and sit in the middle of a perfect circle of trees, and feel into Being. I was maybe 8-10years old. Of course I didn't know what Being was.But I remember clearly how it felt sitting there. I look back and realize I am still doing the same thing. I spend time these days watching Animal Planet on tv and(I like that, tv lower case)and processing in my body the suffering of other animals. It's my form of staying at wounded knee. I told Saniel about this recently, I have been reluctant to talk about it because I was afraid people would think it was grandious of me to think I was serving in this way. Or that they would think it was masochistic. Yet,when I have asked myself: is this serving animals, the answer has always been yes! And Saniel said Yes! to me. "It's the same reason I read the newspaper". So, I will write more later about my totem animals. Thank you for bringing this back up, I was very interested in what you wrote before, and want to go back and read it again. Love, Deidra
