What a thing to be in the middle of your mother and your father. What a heartache to not feel freely loved and free to love back. It seems to me that we turn ourselves into pretzels trying to get what was missing then. So many, if not all, our issues come from this family circle we lived in as a child and we live them over and over as we grow up, trying to recreate that which was so painful so we can feel at home. Or not at home maybe, for some of us. So we live our lives in reaction to others and rarely out of what inspires us, moves us and draws us forward. Ouch. That's me.

Kyla, your observations of your reaction to me being similar to your reactions to your mother is fine discriminative work. I appreciate your noticing that and saying something encouraging anyway. And as a mother figure, let me say that your brilliance is welcome here, and so are you.
