I'll take a stab at it. For me, the necessity of the witness...the embodied feeling witness consciousness...is that somehow Consciousness must know itself AS Consciousness, before it can know itself as ME. That was my experience, anyway. Previous to that stage of awakening, all I could do in regard to Consciousness was think ABOUT it. The witness stage was like the period of time when the butterfly has just emerged from the cocoon, SUCH a different animal than it was before, but it has to spend some time drying its wings, flexing them, feeling how it works to be THIS. Only after it is satisfied with who and what it is, only after does it fly, and BECOME the butterfly it has discovered itself to be.

And, a'course, before the witness awakening I did lots of things besides thinking about Consciousness, and it was mainly those other things that generated the awakening. But there also had to be JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT of investigating and inquiring about consciousness, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to recognize myself in the mirror. That witness wouldn't have been able to "recognize." And only after it recognizes itself can it embody....maybe. I think so.

What a great Question! And Deidra, love...YES! Get into it ! I think that is great. I love that selfishness in you, and when such selfishness appears in me I rejoice because then it is when I am truly Becoming the next Self, the next whatever in my Divine Incarnation! Really, all this interest in other people's versions of stuff is about ME and ME ONLY, the same ME that you are! But its only when I take it in to this me and become it so utterly, that I get any satisfaction or rest, or sense of GETTING HERE!

Mm, mm, MM! This is getting very yummy. Anybody else?

love*********Kyla
