Heh their buddy. Wow this flood of stuff. My little brain is overwhelmed.

Early on is this process, I had a lot of such perceptual fusion, and it was quite marked. Now it isn't so dramatic.
But a little story is in order. I was sitting at the computer one day, and looked over at the knickknack bookshelf, and there in a little bowl was a red santa claus pez dispenser. You know, you see them everywhere. He's got a little red hat that tips to the side, a fairly thick white beard, and the gaze of buddha. Anyway, I CONNECTED with that little plastic sucker. Could not take my eyes off the little guy. I pulled him out of the bowl and stood him up on top of the computer where I could look at him and he look at me. And whenever I would look I would get this "fusion" to use your term. An inability to separate with the little plastic guy, to say where he started and where I ended. And in that connection there was/is all this intense immediacy that just stands on its own, like a cat ready to pounce, quivering yet still. There is watching. No one is watching. Watching only. Etc. My little pez santa. I really was in love with him in a fun yet deep sort of way.

One day I came home from work, and my son and his friend were on the computer making some music, and they had taken Santa Pez down from his perch, and in their normal 18-year old unconscious explorations of anything, had decided to see what was under Santa Pez's beard. They had ripped off the beard! And then, since they couldn't get it back on had taken a sharpie marker and blackened the beard back in and while they were at it drew sunglasses on poor old abused Santa.

So I walk in, see this abuse, and find myself saying somewhat emphatically, "What have to DONE to Santa Pez!"

My son looks up at me with this droll expression and says deadpan, " I didn't realize it was so IMPORTANT to you." Well, we both crack up in laugher, but the next weekend he went out to KMART on his own, and gave me not one, but TWO
brand new Santa Pez dispensers.

What a trivial life I lead.

Love,

Paul
