I think I ripped something.... You are one funny man.

Okay, so - right: perceptual fusion. You mean you too have had that haunting remembering-feeling of phenomena? Man, this is good news! It really was like suddenly the stapler is my long-lost brother, and I just had this intense personal love for the guy.

As I read about Santa Pez...I remembered a couple other times in the past 10 years this has happened. I used to paint in my early 20's, and one night, late, after working intensely, I turned around and everything just stopped as I looked at my glass of water. I never saw anything in my life compared to how I saw that water then. I mean I really saw it - but I didn't quite know what that meant. It meant no separation at all: man and glass of water reunited as long-lost kin.

Then I found myself one day delivering bread, and while sitting in my truck in the parking lot, I looked up and there was this tree that just took my breath away. Ordinary tree - nothing extraordinary there, but it was just so real.

It makes sense to me that a glass of water, a tree, or a Pez Santa really are our long lost kin in Being. I mean I say this now, and I'm definitely not there: the stapler is definitely just a stapler. But I'm oscillated back out right now too. So I'm curious how it is for you second birther's: would the Stapler always be available to "say hello" to, so to speak, or do phenomena only sometimes take on this personal lustre?

By the way - yeah - that string of enquiry I left yesterday took me by storm. Real bobcat-throaty stuff I now see. I opened up my own little message board to keep as a journal, because this is such a useful way to work this process of enquiry. Nevertheless, blew me away how stumped I was about how soul identity and consciousness identity are connected, and then boom: Fed Ex delivery from the Heart.

Merry Christmas,
Chris
