I never had that happen to me but I heard of it of course, and would like to see it. Light can do a lot to a photo, but I once saw one in a book that actually showed the face of someone!   • Martina, I think that it is determined that Orbs are Orbs when tricks of light can't possibly be causing them to appear where they are in the print. They are roughly globular fogs of light in odd places in the picture, sometimes as you say with defined features. Gives me a bit of a shiver that there were so many in this batch of photographs. • I've read a few opinions of Orbs on the net. Some say that all spirits (including humans) put out energy fields and that can sometimes be captured on film. Some say it's just dust motes near the lens. Normally I wouldn't have thought much about Orbs if there weren't so many photos with them in it. In one of my SIL there are three next to her in three different sizes. I will try to post that picture if I can.   • Well, this is the best I can do photo-wise. I've linked two of the pics, but they aren't very big so I don't know how well you can see the Orbs. Look to the right of Lisa's head and you may make out the three Orbs. In the second photo there is a very clear, round one to the left of the blue gift bag on the left side of the table.     • Thanks for the pics! Hm... very interesting. The Orbs are not always at the same spot, so I doubt it's something on the lens. The one pretty round one could be a light reflection though. But from where? There is no light source in behind. Are those only digital or do you have negatives? It should show on the negative if it has a natural cause. • once on a trip when the kids were little we took a tour of the jack daniels distillery in tennessee. they have a spring there, the original one they used when they first started making that elixir of life, and we took pics (film, not digital) of the kids standing in it. a few, not all, came back with an orb (white globe) shining from inside the spring, which was in a small cavelike structure. very interesting. i thought perhaps it was a light hanging from the ceiling of the cave, but it didn't show up on all the pics. have no clue what it was, but it was intriguing. • I've seen my digital camera do this before. I couldn't really see the orb in your first pic, but I could in the second. Especially Hospice nurses - they have the biggest hearts of all. I know what you mean about money. I have a part time job with an engineering company that I hate, but it pays pretty well and I just started another part time job as a fitness instructor for the Curves Fitness Centers that I love, but it doesn't pay so well.   • I've known all my life that I was destined to be a nurse. Actually, I think I have been in the healing business for many many centuries. I had a reading done the other day, and the woman told me some really interesting things. I had never met her before, but she cued into my profession (and my calling) right away. She told me that I have had several violent deaths and that is part of the reason I feel called to work with people making the transition between this existance and the next. She said all kinds of neat stuff, but I thought this was pretty interesting. And you are a Curves instructor??? I've been thinking of joining!!! You go, Girl!!!!     • It's funny you mention having a reading done and were told about how you were called to this profession because of events in past lives. I have had two separate readings by two different psychics and both told me I had been a Native American female healer in a past life. While I have worked in the medical field in this life as a support person I have not pursued a degree in it. Perhaps being a Curves instructor is my way of helping to heal people by teaching them to take better care of themselves through fitness and healthy eating choices. I was brought up upper middle class and my mother was always so proud of all her things, and the importance she thought my father's position gave her, and jealous of all that her very wealthy sister had, to the point that she was embittered trying to keep up. I married a man that she considered below my station, both in education and class. We don't have much, we don't care about our things for the sake of their value, we love each other and are each other's best friends. My mother has even lied to our extended family, her friends and acquaintances about our jobs, incomes and home out of her shame for us. But we feel so blessed in our lives. • My parents are no longer allowed in my home, on Doctor's orders. When they come to visit they stay in a hotel - of course it is the only one in town that my mother considers worthy of them. As to her reputation, she was quite a joke and very sincerely disliked by my father's professional contacts. My husband, who worked in a much lower position in the same institution, but who was very well liked and who knew "where all the bodies were buried" had it on good authority that my father was left out of consideration for the top job because of her. As for family, my father's family detests her. Since my illness and because both parents are in their 80's now and the dynamic has changed, they need me to love them and I can receive love from them as I never could before, wholeheartedly and without censure. His wife made all the Indian food and the American food was catered. It was some of the most delicious food! • I have an artificial tree, Martina. There is a solution you can make that is supposed to keep the tree fresh longer. It has bleach in it and iron pyrite or something. I never made it because whenever we had a real tree, it fell over every year (despite valiant efforts by the DH to ensure it was stable) spilling water all over the carpet. • Mine is a real, fake tree. (VBG!) I have a fibre optic tree which has saved me from the awkward job of plugging in a string of outdoor lights while the temperature is 0 C. (32. F.) or less, using my fingers to take screws out of an overhead veranda light, and trying not to drop them. Putting up the lights was no trouble. My parents before me didn't have a real tree in the house since the 1950's. • We have an artificial tree. We used to always get a real tree, loved the smell and all that. However, no matter how hard he tried, DH could never get one to stand without falling over at least once in the middle of the night (it almost became a tradition unto itself...."Night honey, see you at 3 in the morning when the tree falls over again.") At one point we had a cat who would launch herself at it, deliberately trying to knock it over (did I mention she was a psycho cat from Hell?) So, about four years ago we bought a lovely artificial tree that stays vertical and I light a pine scented candle to get the smell....no needles to clean up after either.   • Always had the problem of the tree falling over! Finally just screwed an eye bolt into the wall and tied the tree to it so it couldn't fall. • Oh how weird. I had replied to two messages below and then posted a new one asking the same question and none of it showed up!! So in answer to my own and Antje's question (hehe) we had to get a fake one last year. Our two kitties and the dog would sit under the real one and do everything they could to drink the water out of the holder! Silly little things. Then they would get the pine sap all over their fur and everthing but the kitchen sink would stick to them hahahaha. I hate having an artificial one but we didn't know if the animals would get sick from the pine sap or not and the tree would just dry out so darn fast. • Cool about the tattoo, Keira. I think I eventually want to get one as well. A friend of mine is a graphic artist so I think I will get her to design it for me since I know the basic things I want, just not sure how to put it all together into one design. Good for you to go back to school! I played around with the idea of going back for my masters but I don't know if I am ready for that in my life yet, it is busy enough at the moment. I think if I could take any course I wanted, or degree program I wanted, I would do something in the health sciences. I love teaching, don't get me wrong, I just wish that politicians would keep their hands out of the classrooms and let us teach.   • LOL-jeez, it's great being back here, even if it is still sporatic. The tattoo is on my back, just below my neck collar line. It can be covered easily when I'm at work but shown off with a lower neck line. I'm really thrilled that I got it. BScN is a university degree, Bachelor of Science in Nursing. It is not necessary to have a degree to nurse, only a diploma, so a degree is the next step up. It's going to be a lot of work but it will be worth it in the end. The actual design also has an outer bit of knots also but I thought I'd go for the simple first and have the more intricate knotting added later. Hmmm...hands and arms going numb at night? Sounds a bit like carpel tunnel syndrome. Have you had it checked out? It can be repaired very easily these days, usually under a local or just a conscious sedation if there are no complications. • Great question Keira! Well our tradition was always to go to church on Christmas Eve to the 11:00 p.m. service (this was when I was much younger and had different beliefs than I do now). Then we would have a nice breakfast at my Mom & Dad's Christmas morning. My Dad would always go to this little bakery and buy this cool pastry, almond Christmas Tree all decorated with colorful icings. Then we would open our presents and just visit. Now that my folks are both gone, Vern and I go to his Dad's on Christmas Eve and then to his Mom's on Christmas Day. We go down to Iowa on the weekend closest to Christmas to my sisters (as the weather allows). One year the weather was so bad for weeks we had Christmas in a van in the parking lot at Perkins 1/2 way between Minneapolis & where my sister lives. Whatever works hahahahaha! • I have no family now, and neither does my friend, Gord. For the last several years we have started a tradition of having an operating session on my train layout interrupted by Christmas dinner and a video. We finish running the trains after the video, then I drive him back home. It's far better than sitting home in our separate houses and watching dumb movies alone. We don't exchange gifts. • 30 people? Wow, my family doesn´t come up with that many members. When I was a kid my Dad insisted on putting up the tree on the 24th. We didn´t get to see it until it was dark, shining in all glory. He never changed that and I did it with my DD just like that, until she was older and I too much under stress that day, so that we now put up the tree a day before, or even earlier. Christmas Eve is when we exchange gifts here. The 25th and 26th are official holidays too, but the main event is on the 24th. I broke with most of the old family traditions, because they were only to keep the kids in suspense and now we are celebrating each year as we go along. It is nice to have a tradition, but our family has shrunk so much. Doing everything in peace an quiet is what we do now. On Christmas Eve we usually have a simple dinner (potato salad with wieners and such*g*), but the 25th and 26th are there to expand the waist line, haha. This year I volunteered to cook dinner for Doug's side of the family...25 people roughly....must have been a weak moment on my part, lol. We have lots of traditions leading up to Christmas as well. I love that you all draw a name and get a gift for one! - As for traditions, well, as a child it was like Martina already said above, with my own little family now we've created some new :-) On the bigs day (24th which is Christmas Day here) we have our tree just 1 day, cause we have a "tree decorating celebration" at the 23th. Until then it was only "Advent", with a advents weath on the table but then it's christmas.The 24th is always sort of stressful for the moms, so I spare myself to cook something big, the kids don't eat much anyway, they are way too nerveous and later busy with their new stuff. On the 25th it has become a tradition (since 11 years now) that I do a duck with german dumplings and red kraut.
