Another 2 hours and I'll be on my way to the airport and tonight I'll have my first Ouzo in Greek. Never been there before! And if you dont know what Ouzo is, its an Anis schnaps served icecold almost frozen, very tasty and very alcoholic *g*
I wish you all a wonderful week, take care.

Our discussion about the truth of the bible kinda leads to this question:

As a person raised by the Christian belief who is now looking into other directions; do you feel guilty?

How do you deal with it?

    Thanks for playing!

  • A Bunch of Things -- Jeannine, 04:01:08 06/23/03 Mon
It`s easier to post here sometimes than to deal with hotmail! I can`t go from one thing to another without losing all I just typed etc. So I thought I would hit you all at once with various oddities!

Betsy, not sure you got my invite to the NELOL list or if you are getting the info on the hotels etc. PLEASE e-mail me, I may be able to get you a room 3 nights, with only 1 night charge. Keira you coming??
Any other SW people going to the Sept games and wanting a room so we can have a get together, let me know, and/or if you want to come to dinner. I need a count.

Christine, can you get this info and my e-mail addy to Melissa? Also I am home all weekdays and DD is out of school, so if you want to meet up??

DH/Ray has surgery scheduled for July 17th for his wrist/hand. They really dont know what is wrong...thinking its very abnormal carpal tunnel. Keira how is Daves hand? Anyway, keep him in your thoughts if you can for a quick recovery (4 weeks).

Colly, DH wants to know if there is a special or CDL license needed to drive tow trucks....he`s thinking of a new profession.

My almost 13 year old DDs are having trouble with their step mother, and I will be having to step-in to demand a change. She puts them in the corner still, and doesnt let them voice any objection to her. SLAM- grounded, time out. Anyway, I posted the whole thing at the kirk, but I ask for your support and best thoughts as I do this! DDs leave about July 15th, so I will be writing a letter to SM so she cant take it out on DDs, and I dont have to hear her hysterics.

Ron did QOTD over at the book board, and I will be doing it starting the 28th-29th with Lucy to post for me when I am not online. Just in case you are interested. I read your BPC segment Ron! Good stuff! But you took my Prestonpans Mmmpphhing scene!! :oD

I am loving the book discussions! Keep it coming you guys!!
I am glad we have a busy board again!

I am home for the summer weekdays as I said, so anyone traveling to the area, or wanting to meet up, let me know! I have access to hotel rooms cheaply here in Manchester NH.
I have a futon for sleeping over,or have DDs double bed,or take your chances on the pullout couch too. E-mail me for my phone# as I am not on line everyday and I dont want anyone to have to wait for me to catch up.

I have been journaling, and having quiet time to hear the answers. I learned something interesting about myself and my body. I will try to relate that another time.

As always, my heart is here with you all, you lurkers too!
Hugs and Peace and Love be yours today!!

Ah, what happened to me???? Life came barrelling around the corner at full speed and did not allow me the time to get back here and post after last week.
School is winding down for the kids, thank goodness. The eldest is in the middle of exams, the next one is getting ready for his graduation from elementary school and the next two have just been carrying on their daily activities. It's been soccer, baseball or football almost every night of the week. Then I get to add working shifts into the whole recipe and, Voila, you have a busy life.

I have still mamaged to find some time to read though so I'll go inside the first reply to post a few thoughts.

  • Checking In! -- Lori, 23:16:38 06/20/03 Fri
Wow!!! I can't believe how the board has picked up again. I've been on vacation out in Colorado and was very busy the two weeks prior and so much has happened. Happy belated birthday Ellen! Missed you and glad to see you back. Congrats on becoming a US citizen Isabelle! And hi to all the newbies! Nice to see all the activity. We had a nice vacation and went to the CO Reniassance Festival which was a blast. Hit every rock shop in South Dakota, Wyoming & Colorado adding many unique and beatiful rocks and crystals to my collection hahahahahahaha. Came home to some very disturbing news tho'. My MIL works for a temp agency and she received a very threatening letter - an anonymous one but they think they know who it is. He threatened her and her husband and Vern and I too! It's very scary for her as she's just the nicest teeny little slip of a gal and wouldn't say a bad thing to or about anyone ever! They hired an armed guard for their office (there's 4 gals in the office) and they keep the door locked at all times now. They all have to have an escort too and from their cars now and it's very disturbing for everyone involved. They filed a police report and the guy they think has done this is a homeless guy who is very very intelligent (he's a computer geek) and is actually a hard worker showing up for all his assignments but he definitely has a screw loose big time. The letter was very nasty and most of us think he's just trying to blow off steam because he didn't get called back for a particular job he thot' he should have so he just picked my MIL to take it out on. She's a trooper tho' and is being very strong about it but they are the only ones in the phone book with her last name and it would not be hard at all to find where she lives so we're kind of freaked out about it all. They don't know our last name so we're not concerned about us getting hurt but if everyone could send positive & protective thot's our way that would be great. I'm making special necklaces for the girls in her office to wear with protective stones and all for them to wear their keys on and my MIL has to wear this little "screech box" that has a super loud alarm on it 24-7 just in case. The police have tried to talk her out of carrying any kind of weapon including pepper spray but I'm not sure that's necessarily a good thing either. I think pepper spray would be OK (no weapons of course) but you can use it at a distance if need be and I have been taught how to use it safely by a cop-friend of ours. Anyway, any kind thot's would be appreciated. Missed everyone and I'll jump back into the mix as soon as my mind is in a better place! Love & hugs to all...

  • Books that caught my eye! -- sw va Linda, 07:18:46 06/15/03 Sun
These books caught my eye at the bookstore yesterday and in reading Keira's post again I wonder if possibly one of them may be what she's reading right now! :) Has anyone read them? They sound absolutely fascinating, following the life of Jesus, much differently presented than what many of us have been taught. They are a trilogy -

    Bloodline of the Holy Grail
    Genesis of the Grail Kings
    Realm of the Ring Lords

    All written by Laurence Gardner.

I wonder if they are easy or difficult reads? I'm going to post a description from the back of the first one, cut and pasted from Amazon.com so you can see why they have caught my eye -

From royal and suppressed archives comes documented proof of the heritage of Jesus in the West and the long awaited discovery of the Holy Grail. In fulfilling this time-honored quest, penetrating new light is cast upon the Grail Code of Service and the venerated feminine element, upheld in chivalry but forsaken by the Church in order to forge a male dominated society.
This unique work offers revelatory insight concerning the descendent heirs of Jesus and his brother James while, in documenting a hidden legacy of the Messiah, it unveils hitherto guarded facts about characters such as Mary Magdalene and Joseph of Arimathea. Tracing the sacred lineage through centuries of persecution and Inquisition, Bloodline of the Holy Grail reveals a systematic suppression of authentic records and a strategic manipulation of the New Testament Gospels.

Featuring all the charm and adventure of Arthurial romance, coupled with enthralling Rosicrucian and Templar disclosures, this extraordinary work has a cutting edge of intrigue that removes the established blanket of enigma to expose one of the greatest conspiracies ever told.

    About the Author
Laurence Gardner is an internationally renowned sovereign genealogist and historical lecturer, Chancellor of the Imperial Dragon Sovereignty, Prior of the Sacred Kindred of Columba, Preceptor of the Knights Templar of St. Anthony, and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland. He lives in the United Kingdom.

  • A Different View!!!!!!! -- Keira, 10:05:03 06/13/03 Fri
    Hi Everyone,
Well Martina, you've got me thinking again and in pondering some of your questions I thought of something I'd like to post.

Now, I'm going to give you a bit of an explanation and then you can say if you'd like me to post it.
I really enjoy reading books that give me something to thing about, ones that don't present the usual point of view. Books that present a different picture so to speak. I've been reading a good novel and there is a different picture of Jesus and the bible etc..presented. As soon as I read it, I thought "well, that certainly makes some sense." It's definitely not the usual picture and I'd like to ask your permission before posting it. I do not want to offend anyone and it's really just a different way of thinking about things.
So, if any of you would like to read it, I'll post it. But again-no offense is meant towards anyone or any religion. Let me know.
    Hugs
    Keira

  • Another weird story -- Ellen, 10:18:35 06/10/03 Tue
    Hi everbody,
I'm still around but busybusybusy with life's challenges. Our little baby girl will be 5 months old soon, wow, time really flies! And she's getting sweeter by the day! I've got some new photos and will try to put them into the SW album tonight when she's asleep.
My MIL went to hospital for knee surgery (somehow we survived 3 weeks without all her help *g*), and now has gone for rehabilitation and I do my best to make sure we'll survive another 3 weeks without her *VBG*.
Well, it's not too bad, since I still find some time to work on my current manuscript. Fortunately there's no due date. Well created, no?! *g*
And I'll be 40 soon. Hey, what an adventure! I love it! To be honest, I haven't felt that good in ages. People who used to tell me how pale and tired I look now ask me, what do you do, you are looking so great? Got a baby, haha!!
Any comments on getting 40?? Did you like it? Did you hate it? Did you tear out your first grey hair? Just curious.
Well, gotta run now, picking up the children. Talk to you soon, byebye,
    Ellen

  • Saying Hello! :) :) -- sw va Linda, 08:13:17 06/06/03 Fri
Hi everyone! Antje invited me here, thank you Antje. We've been having some wonderful discussions on spirituality and it feels as if we are soul sisters. :) It's been said that nothing happens by accident and the right people come into your life at the right time, I think Antje is one of those for me and I hope I can be that for others. I've tried to discuss my beliefs with some family and friends and often come up against doubt and/or outright ridicule. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm tempted to just keep my mouth shut about it. I really want to talk about it and share in the excitement of discovery but that's not a lot of fun when the reaction is so negative. On a positive side I know I've come a long way in my faith when I can come up against that and still stand firm in what I've experienced. So even those converstaions are a learning experience. My hubby is great for talking with(and always supportive and open minded) but unfortunately he is out of the country right now. Antje is one of the first friends I have felt comfortable really discussing things with. I've also had some wonderful books come my way that have helped me see things more clearly and really gotten me thinking as well. I asked God for clarity and boy have I gotten it! Some of it I'm not sure I can compeltely wrap my mind around and understand but the door has been opened.

Have anyone of you read something that really touched a place of truth in your heart? When I read the first book in the Conversations With God series my heart was literaly singing! I can't explain it but that's never happened to me before. I've now just started book 2, I had to wait a bit to let what I read in the first one settle. And I wanted to read book 1 a couple of times to really take it in. Book 2 is really something as well, WOW! A lot to take in there, that's going to take me a bit. :) I've also read books by Sylvia Brown, John Edward, James Van Praagh and a few on angels.

I've asked God and my spirit guides for signs that I'm on the right track and they seem to be everywhere! But sometimes I wonder if I'm reading too much into it? Seeing what I want to see? So I guess there are still some niggling doubts that surface now and then but I know I am becoming stronger in my faith.

I just recently had my first psychic reading and it was a very positive and thought provoking experience! I felt great after I hung up the phone and had a lot to think about. I've shared my reading with Antje (I typed it up!) and appreciate her discussing it with me. :)

Well, I've said a lot more than I expected to in my first post here, thanks for listening. :)

    Hugs,

    Linda

DD and I went to a small but warm and friendly HG and Celtic Festival today!!
We got to march in the parade with the Bruce Clan!
We got to see Betsy and give her hugs and talk and sigh...it was just great!!
DD played with the sheep and the border collies, and the owner/trainer said to communicate with our pets, you must think in pictures to them as well as with words, they will train faster! He said he could psychically communicate with one dog he had without one word or whistle!! About 14 commands! WOW!!
I got, be still my heart, a length of tartan CHEAP so I can make a skirt for myself! This was true manifestation as I have had the pattern sitting on my desk for about 1-2 weeks, saying to myself, I MUST find some fabric for this!! Ahahahahaa! I love when this works!!
My DD was the best kid in the world today I mean THE BEST! She was perfect! REALLY into everything and wanted to stay beyond my endurance. It was raining, pouring at times, and I hadnt slept at all! But we made it home, with treasures and smiles! It was all so fabulous I cant even tell you what I am feeling! THANK YOU UINIVERSE!!
