Subject: If we were as posh (and affluent) as some would like us to be, then we would fill out the Riverside Stand every week. That we don't suggests that our support is mainly drawn from people who have to work, or are retired from work on a pension. Anyone who can afford a season ticket at a London club has a reasonable income so are not poor.

  • CC always had its lovely immediate setting, but 60 years ago everywhere looked grungier and there was little obvious affluence around football grounds or among attendees. Fifty years ago next May, my cup final ticket cost £1.50, which even in today's money is only £15. Inevitable that difference has started to tell, not just at Fulham.
