Subject: Couple of things - not particularly original

First, silva gets all manner of plaudits, rightly so, but he and his staff should also be criticised when it’s right to do so. Tactically, as most have said below, why do we keep playing with 3 CBs, feels like he just doesn’t want to drop one or Anderson/diop. I’m firmly in the diop camp now, Anderson looks slow and vulnerable, diop in a back 4 with Cuenca/bassey is what I’d play. We are nullifying Robinson, he’s best coming from deep, with iwobi dragging the full back inside and Robbo running off the back of attackers, not starting high and facing the full back like a winger. It kept ending up with having 3 CBS v delap and diop left with the ball, just go back to basics and what we know works.

My weekly moan about corners/free kicks, it’s just so poor, do we work on them at all? It looks like we have no plan. Watch a good set piece team and you see creativity, blocking, surrounding the keeper, intrigue as to what’s coming next, we just chuck it in and hope someone gets on the end of it. I don’t care if we don’t have a set piece coach, we were great at them 2 seasons ago, when don’t think we had one, just work on it, our current coaches are good enough. Tight games against defensive teams we’ll get loads of corners, nick a goal early and whole dynamic changes, but we are so toothless from them we eradicate that way of winning. Forest don’t often blow teams away, but they can keep it tight and pinch a set piece goal, no reason we can’t win that way at times.

Positively, how brilliant was Raul, energy, desire, never shies away, as long as he is like this he is a top half prem CF, decent goal output and brilliant link play, as silva says CF isn’t priority. It’s so easy to say buy a CF when we have 1 blank, but he’s not the problem generally. Also thought Wilson was other one who was really at it. I wrote about how our squad is athletic and built for end to end football, but the consequence of that is our struggle against deep defending types, might just be you can’t have it all, but we make our life far easier with 8-10 corner goals a season.
