  • This line of thinking is just silly. We have a passion and togetherness that I've never seen in the 30 years I've supported the club. You can see it in the way that our players both support each other and are comfortable grabbing and pushing each other away when needed, as well as how they fight to the death. These things trickle down from the top and they are a good thing. It's a sport. Passions should run high. Save the cold fish, box ticking managers, for pencil pushing.     • It’s silly to expect our players/coach to show respect to the ref and understand humans make errors, do our players screaming how crap they are to each other when they miss a chance? It all feeds down throughout the game into grassroots and Wilson screaming you’re a **** cheat in the refs face isn’t passion, it’s losing his head. The best keep cool, react to adversity by getting up and finding a way to overcome it, not go mad causing loss of concentration leading to Ipswich 2nd goal.       • Not saying sanitise the game, but there is a line and Wilson crossed it, the problem is the ref didn’t punish it, so players will continue to do it, what happened to just the captain approaching the ref? Passion and emotion is great in situations, but having a cool head and stepping back is also vital, we lost ours v ITFC, if we’d been cooler, scored the pen, I have no doubt we’d have gone on to win if we’d taken a breath and rest rather than cause the chaos after our first pen.     • Above all it's great if Marco has fostered that, but I'm another unconvinced it needs to be accompanied by the quantity and style of hissy fits referred to above, which viewed without b+w specs on, don't do him or the cause any favours. Hopefully a teeny bit of a turn-off to succession planners at bigger clubs. (So much else to commend of course.)       • Doubt its a turn off at all. Have a look at the ranking of managers with the most cards last season (inside). It's like a who's who of most desirable managers (save Guardiola). Think of the top managers of the past 30 years (Ferguson, Mourinho, etc.), so many were big passion, anti-ref types. Think of a manager less as a behind-desk general, and more as leader who needs to spur his troops to action and you can see the sense in it.       • Responding more to the "in addition to the above" in your post, i.e. the ridiculous call for our manager to stifle his passionate leadership style in the name of decorum. If that occasionally leads to some unruly behaviour like Wilson's, so be it. We need that passion and intensity. It's a sport, not a normal job.         • I’ll ask again, why don’t other sports men behave this way? Ever seen cricket players scream at umpire, you’re a f*** cheat in their face? Do they not have passion? You say the words of someone who frankly has no clue how this ‘passion’ (abuse) feeds down to grass routes and now means many refs wear body cams as abuse often gets physical, hey ho though, they’re footballers; it’s sport, normal rules don’t apply.
