• The header that hit the bar seemed like a decent effort, hardly missing a sitter, and I'd need to see the chance at the end again (it's not on the sky highlights) but in real time from behind the goal it seemed like a fairly acute angle, he hit it low across the keeper as he should and it was a decent save. • His individual XG is 9, scored 8, so decent, not a big issue and for context better than haaland and solanke, the ones who tend to really outdo their XG are the likes of Cunha who score long shots or create out of nothing. Header yesterday was a good effort and the first goal, his run made that goal from a fairly average cross. Our XG team is similar to what we score, believe what silva means is clinical, as in win big moments, clinical can mean defending and managing a game, not just scoring.     • The virtue of xG is that it is systematic and relentless, not patchy (remembering, forgetting and overerestimating incidents on a part-time basis as involved spectators do). And yes, ideally you overperform. But both for Raul and the team as a whole, it's just marginal in the season so far.     • So you ask what his shots to goals ratio is, then when prevented with a more nuanced and relevant stat it’s considered nonsense. Like all stats it has its limits and doesn’t tell the full picture, but there’s plenty of evidence that shows over a medium time period teams and players regress to their XG. As I said last week, we are stats wise middle, kick on from jan and we can finish 7-8th, at worst finish 14-15th, but probably 9-11th, as we are now.       • Xg isn’t a more relevant stat at all. It’s based on what every player does, and not relevant to the player you are looking at. If you buy a striker who’s main attribute is scoring with his head, for example, he could still have a good xg even with f he couldn’t hit a cows arse, because the majority of other players who had a similar chance, who wernt expected to score it, and don’t, lower the xg for that situation.
