  • The decline of football? But football's bigger than it's ever been isn't it? Seems to be a Northern club-bias here, and a suspicion of all things southern. Probably written by someone who's never left the north and only knows Leeds and Sheff Wed fans.   • Sheff Wed have been out of the top flight for years because they have been really bad at football for a long time, and have employed sub-standard footballers. Sheffield probably blames southerners for the decline of its steel industry (even though they had nothing to do with it) and I suspect is a city consumed by an impotent rage that manifests itself in terrace aggression - some people still interpret over-emotional infantilism on the terraces as the hallmarks of a 'big club'.
