Subject: This fight thing is weird. Larouuse even defines a use of châtaigne as "Coup de poing ; bagarre". How do you get from chestnuts to punching and fighting!? I never understood how fans got to Chestnuts from his name. Now I'm just wondering whether it somehow just came from his time playing in Italy. Other than Italians who would immediately make that leap?
In reply to: Travelex (half Belgian!) 's message, "The Italian for chestnut is castagna, the plural (chestnuts) is castagne. Wonder if he is Italian origin. Or it's the French fight thing, though weird to have a surg surname relating to aggressive things. Oh, and French chataigne would be the same origin as castagna/castagne." on Tuesday, March 04, 04:32:24am
