Subject: Penalty shoot out.

If that had been a semi final against better opposition then surely the coaching team would have done more to get a sense of the penalty taking habits of the opposition players. That it was Preston and so early in the competition, leads me to think they didn't bother. Hence why Benda never got near the majority of the penalties. Now whether that information was availble is questionable for all their players. We obviously thought we could win in normal time, and for some heroic defending, would have done. Also, I think we have to give Ledson some credit for a really great strike to score, even if the 'ring rusty' Berge did clear poorly.
And who else, like me is getting tired of the 'shouldn't have let Stansfield go' argument? It's an easy argument point to fall behind, but I think it does not reflect how things might have played out up until the next transfer window. If we had refused to sell him then how might that have played out? Not every player can bury their dissapointment and knuckle down like Palhinha. It's clear that Stansfield was on board with the 'Brady Project', and has and attachment to Birmingham City. He's young and needs the momentum of regular first team football to build his confidence and all round game.I doubt he would have got that in the Premier League. Plus I don't think he is the type of player to play alone up front.
