Yeah I think it has been mentioned in the thread by several folks now (yourself included) that the reason Alia can sense her male Other Memories is due to the fact that she is Atreides. All Atreides after the birth of Paul, male and female have the capanility to access their male and female ancestral memories. That's my opinion now anyway.
Someone (I forget who) thinks it was that the Baron was an aberration, perhaps due to his homosexuality, but I have to disagree with that.
As far as the Other Memory and the Sharing is concerned, that sounds like a pretty good theory. But there are a few questions about that I have. i just want to clarify that the "sharing" is the same thing as what Revernd Mother Ramallo and jessica experienced in the very first book. It is usually upon death correct?
Access to the memories of the one who shared isn't necessarily easier. Anirul in the prequels had a hard time hearing her friend Lobia for a long time. I don't know if you count the prequels as being canon though (there is some debate about that as well).
by the way I am just about done with a book called the Elegant Universe by a guy named Brian Green which is about string theory. I wondered if you had heard of it?
