You have not failed your son as a mother. We all have really trying times with our children. And we have all lost our tempers at times too. I have a 10yr old son and let me tell you, sometimes I just want to sock him! He can have such a nasty attitude. I mean, he's a sweet kid, in general, but once in awhile he just throws this attitude...sometimes more often than others. I think kid's go through stages like this, where they are really pushing and testing their boundaries. I will tell you something. When I was growing up, my mom was single and worked full time. My sister and I were in daycare a lot. I know my mom wasn't perfect...I remember her having boyfriends over to the house, drinking, even smoking pot...but she did love us and she always told us that. When I was around 10 yrs old, she straightened up her act and stopped doing all that destructive stuff. My mom has always told me how much she loves me, she has always admitted to not being a perfect mom and told me that she is sorry that she wasn't better to us. I hold no ill feelings towards my mother because of that. I know that she isn't perfect and she's willing to admit it and that helps tremendously. The point I'm trying to make is that you need to talk to your son, explain how frustrating it is to you when he acts like that and admit you're not perfect and not sure how to handle the situation. You will get through this and your son will be fine. You will be ok too. Take care, Love, Gina
