Well my brain works like this. Johnny Depp plays a pirate.
Bink's Sake is a pirate song. The first line of said song is Time to bring Bink's Sake and since it's time for me to bring you guys the MNA ... (Isn't it fun hanging out with crazy people on the internet?)

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhh! I despise the way Depp looks. I believe this will be another movie of the mega star I will be able to miss. *gloom* Thank u, LH for the MNA. I'm 2 depressed to wax eloquent.

Michelle Pfeiffer is in it playing Elizabeth Collins and Eva Green looks like she will make a fine Angelique. Dark Shadows has been a favorite of mine for a long time but it isn't a sacred cow for me. I'm willing to see a slightly different interpretation.

I just hoped that we had seen the end of weird looking vampires. After Cruise, Pitt, Boreanaz, Marsters and the other recent vampire fellows, I wanted Depp to be as handsome and fearsom as possible. However, I have enough affection and respect for Michelle Pfieffer that seeing the movie will be a must. Perhaps I'll change my mind. We'll see. Hugs

I think the idea of a "making fun" is just fine, after all the gloppy "Twilight" and even "Vampire Diaries." Admittedly, Depp does "romantic" very well in "Don Juan De Marco," and doing a serious take would probably require some tragedy for his obsession versus his addiction/vampirism. My hope remains with Angel's "promise" in actual transfiguration to his DESIRE of "mortal" and Buffy for "normal." (Versus the heroic trope of "We don't belong to ourselves; we belong to the world." Of juveniles and melodramatic tragedy. Just "grow up" already!)

The serious take on vampires has been given plenty of "air" time; I happen to adore the endlessly long death scene in "Fright Night"--of course, the original. Colin Farrell just seemed thugish or embarrassed in his version.

Be well!
