Shantal smiled as she closed the door behind Gadari and Omar. “All is done now.” She shifted her gaze and looked tenderly upon Michael’s sleeping form. “Tonight we leave this place my love, and then you will be free and I......I must live forever without your touch.” She took several steps toward Michael and stopped. Standing over him she shivered softly and sighed. She never noticed the dark figure that detached from the wall of the garden and disappeared. “My dreams will never come true, but you will be happy with your wife and children.” Turning she wiped a tear that had slid out of the corner of her eye and slowly walked to the garden where she sat beside the large Oak tree and continued to plan their escape.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Rahine turned and shook her head as Madeline entered the room.

“Ready?” Madeline asked.

“We cannot go there Mad, if Michael is contagious we could all-“

“If you don’t want to come then don’t, I will go and bring my son back here.” Madeline stated as she turned and left.

Rahine sighed and grabbed her keys before following her sister out of the room.

“I swear if I get sick you will pay dearly Madeline.” She stated as she caught up with her sister in the garage where a large car awaited them.

Madeline climbed into the car and smiled as Rahine followed her in. Suddenly a loud noise was heard and Rahine quickly ducked to the floor of the car, her hands holding a small gun pointed at the window of the car.

Madeline smiled softly before opening the window and hissing.

“Must you always make such noise when arriving?”

The older man bowed softly and shrugged. “You ordered me to advise you of any news as soon as possible.”

Madeline felt Rahine kneel beside her and turned to smile at her sister.

“What are you doing here?” Rahine asked in an angry tone as she pulled her skirt over her bare legs.

“I thought you were to stay and protect that bitch Jamil cares for, tell me is she dead? Has the man succumbed to his illness finally?”

The man’s dark eyes widened further as he gazed upon Rahine. He shook his head and fell to his knees, his face plastered to the floor.

“No Lalla, neither have died yet, but Kalifah almost killed the girl last night.” He lifted his fearful gaze and met Rahine’s shiny one.

“What of the man?” Madeline asked taking the man’s gaze from her sister’s magnetic stare.

The man shivered softly before turning to stare at Madeline.

“He lives, but only by alla’s will. He is still suffering from the shakes and weakness the drug’s effects have caused on him.”

Rahine frowned softly. “What of his contagious disease? “ she asked as she stapped out of the car and walked toward the older man.

The man shook his head sadly. A soft smile spreading across his weathered features. “According to my sources inside the palace, it was a rouse to help him escape you Lalla, it seems that Shantal prefers to not share the ma-”

“Smack!”

Rahine smiled as the man crumpled to the floor at her feet, his hands covering the large welt that now covered his dark skin.

“That will teach you to speak to your queen in that way slave!”

Madeline pushed the door open and glared at Rahine. “You need to learn patience sister dearest, why don’t you let me handle the man.”

Rahine stared wide-eyed at Madeline. “He’s under your orders? For how long?”

Madeline shrugged softly before leaning on the door of the car, examining her nails carefully. “For almost eight years now. He is part of my organization.”

Rahine shifted her angry glare toward the man. “You are section one?”

Madeline laughed softly, the sound grating on Rahine’s ears. “No my dearest baby sister he’s not section, he is part of my personal organization, you know; the one Paul and I created years ago before Michael arrived at section.”

Rahine smiled slowly, her hands gripped the edges of her skirt as she slowly turned and walked to the back of the car. Turning to look over her shoulder toward the darkness at the back of the garage.

“You deserved that old man!” A rough voice echoed from the darkness inside the garage making Madeline snap her head up and turn to stare into the inky darkness of the room.

Rahine chuckled softly before reaching out her hand. “Come love, we must get going or our lovebirds will take flight.”

Madeline turned as pale as a ghost as the pale blond hair of the man was hit by the overhead lighting. She could barely see the man’s face but recognized the tightness of the abdomen, and strength in the man’s stance, she had touched those muscles and enjoyed that strength many times while she had trained him.

“Jürgen.” She barely whispered in fright.

“Yes my dear. Happy to see me.”

Rahine chuckled loudly as Madeline shook her head.

“You’re dead, I saw you die at-“

Rahine lifted her hand, pushing away Jürgen’s pale hair off his face. “Yes he almost died, took me several months to bring him back to life after his noble sacrifice.” she stated sarcastically.

Madeline stared at Jürgen’s scorched flesh, her skin crawling with fear as she met his pale gaze. “I didn’t know you survived, why didn’t you contact us?”

Jürgen shrugged softly. “Because I was out, away from your nasty touch. I would have brought Nikita out but Michael kept her beside him always, I never had a chance to steal her.”

Rahine smiled, caressing his burned cheek softly. “But now you will my love. Would you like to know what I have planned?”

Jürgen shifted his angry glare toward Rahine and gently placed his hand over hers on his cheek. “Tell me.”

“Inghmar.” She whispered.

A young girl stepped out of the front door of the car and bowed toward Rahine.

“My queen.”

Rahine smiled as she felt Jürgen’s hand tighten his grip on her hand. Turning she nodded at Madeline. “Tell him please.”

Madeline shook her head and turned to stare at Rahine.

“Why don’t we allow the girl to tell him, she does speak for you right?”

Rahine smiled and nodded. “Of course, Inghmar, take Jürgen to his destination and make sure that all goes well, please explain the plan on the way.” She turned and gently lifted herself on her toes, placing a soft kiss upon Jürgen’s lips. “Do as she says and you will have all you have desired.”

Jürgen nodded and gently patted her behind before turning and following the young girl out of the garage and toward a waiting helicopter.

Rahine turned to Madeline. “And what is the news he has, if we are to reach the Palace before nightfall we must leave soon.”

Madeline nodded and the man slowly lifted himself to his knees, his gaze lowered to his hands. “Tell us.”

The man nodded and lifted his dark gaze to meet Madeline’s.

“They plan to escape Lalla, tonight.”

Rahine hissed in anger, glaring at Madeline. Madeline shrugged and allowed her patented Mona Lisa smile to spread across her perfect mouth.

“He’s a spy my dear, not a hawk, it takes him time to leave the palace unseen and come to us. Allow him to finish.” She stated imperiously.

Rahine turned her angry glare to the man. “Tell us all you know Faroush, and make it quick.” She ordered before climbing back inside the car and taking a seat beside Madeline.

Faroush nodded and quickly entered the car. Faroush’s dark gaze widened as Madeline nodded to the driver and the car was started and slowly began to drive away from the summer palace.

“Speak Faroush, we still have several hours before reaching Cairo.”

Faroush bowed his head and cleared his throat. “Shantal has discovered a way to leave the Palace without being seen, her plans are to reach the Nile, sail it to the coast and quickly embark on a ship toward Jordan, there the man will contact his organization and return home.”

“And Shantal?” Rahine asked as she pressed her nails into the tender flesh of her palms.

“Shantal will go with him to Jordan, from there they will part company and she will find her way back to Scotland.”

Madeline nodded before lifting her hand and running it through her dark curls.

“So, she will give him back to Nikita, what a noble sacrifice.” She turned her dark gaze to meet the older man’s and quirked her head to the side. “Tell me, does she
love him?”

Faroush nodded, a smile spreading across his face quickly.

“Yes Lalla, she loves him but fights the emotions, while he-“ Faroush closed his mouth and lowered his eyes to his lap.

“What of his feelings?” Both women asked simultaneously.

Faroush shrugged. “I cannot be sure, he reacts to her strangely.”

Madeline frowned, knowing perfectly well Michael’s emotions and reactions. She knew that once Michael began to act strange with a woman it meant he was attracted to her. “How long until the drugs leave his body can he be drugged again?”

Faroush met Rahine’s worried gaze and shrugged. They both turned to stare at Madeline’s smiling visage before Faroush cleared his throat.

“I cannot say, he has already suffered too much damage, it could already be too late for him.” He answered cryptically.

Madeline leaned forward and grabbed him by the beard, dragging him to his knees before her. “What do you mean? What did you administer to him?”
