Thanks for posting that, Cinephilia. Now when will you give us *your* opinion? I miss all the discussion we used to have here, back in the old days. Well, here's my $.02, if anyone cares ...

If it weren't for Loving Deadly, Ice Cream Man would be, IMO, one of the three worse movies I've ever seen! It's hard to comprehend how anybody could look at the script for a gross-out fest like that and not realize how bad the concept is before you even start. But then, knowing that the film was made by a porn director explains a lot. Before Ice Cream Man, the two worst films I'd ever seen were Motel Hell and Last House on the Left, but Ice Cream Man has even Motel Hell "licked" (sorry) for sheer repulsiveness. I'm actually *glad* DW didn't have a bigger role in it, but I'd be even happier if he hadn't been in it at all since it would have saved me from watching it.

Even so I don't blame Mr. Warner for taking some of the roles he's done. I mean, he obviously loves his work, and if he has some extra time on his hands, why not take advantage of every opportunity to do what he does so well? And who amongst us has never done work that was beneath them? At least he was in good company with a lot of other big names.

Besides, why should he feel sorry for his poor fans who choose to drive themselves crazy tracking down (and paying hard-earned money for) some of this straight-to-video drivel, subjecting ourselves to hours of torture just to catch a sixty-second performance? ;-) Scream 2 excluded, of course. (If you're trying to catch it, BTW, his cameo comes in at just about the 55-minute mark, but the movie's very watchable. It made me wish DW was *my* drama teacher! And unlike some films, at least it *knew* it was a parody.) But Ice Cream Man? Unnameable II? Ugh, I felt like I needed a shower after watching that dreck! (Norman Bates, take me away!)

On the other hand, I thought DW actually *saved* the otherwise insipid Quest of the Delta Knights (it's so bad it's good--even better with the MST3K treatment) and The Felony (at least with him as the villain, there's someone to root for against the obnoxious "good guys"). But even his *dual* role in Loving Deadly couldn't do anything to save that wretched piece of awfulness--one of the few movies I've ever watched most of in fast forward, and never looked back! But at least it didn't feature ice cream that looked back.

I haven't seen Ice Cream Man, but I did purchase a VERY cheap copy of Loving Deadly on eBay. It came in the same shipment as Final Equinox, which, BTW, is probably a decent movie if what you're really into is random acts of soft-core porn (DW does not participate). Oh, thank god, I only paid 99 cents for Loving Deadly (same sort of soft-core stuff interspersed). Even though it has DW it is completely unwatchable, although mildly amusing during his one love scene (he looks REALLY uncomfortable and practically runs off of his partner). What can I say about a movie that has DW playing twins distinguished by a moustache and a western belt buckle? Don't buy it, someone massacred perfectly innocent plastic to make this cassette.

I've only seen Quest of the Delta Knights on MST3K, and laughed through it. Felony is actually not that bad and you see a lot of DW, but SOMEBODY please tell me why he chews gum through the entire movie?

Speaking of seeing a lot of DW, get your VCR's ready, Bravo usually shows Cinderella around Christmas and it's well worth seeing. DW looks great.

Hi, Agatha! So glad you're still here! I've missed your postings.

I posted my review of Final Equinox here a couple years ago, but I can barely remember the movie now, except that David Warner had a pretty good role in it (and he looked really cute in his white sneakers!).

I had written a review of Loving Deadly long ago, but I never got around to posting it. Is anybody interested? (It's kinda long, even for me.) I took a look at that scene you're referring to again, which, can you believe, I had forgotten about. I think he was actually supposed to jump off her like that--keep in mind, he's the *evil* twin! (No mustache or belt buckle.) I love it when he whispers, "My only weakness is my obsession with you." But then there are other lines even he can't keep from sounding laughable ("vengeance is mine" ... *groan*). As a whole, the movie is unwatchable, but have you tried doing your own editing by just fast-forwarding to the DW scenes? It's like a completely different movie. I think he does some great acting in it, considering the material he has to work with. (Those two lead characters were awful. Did you get the impression like I did that the movie was just a bad rip-off of Natural Born Killers?)

Speaking of uncomfortable love scenes, have you seen Necronomicon? The opposite seems to be going on there. Talk about lousy chemistry--that actress seems totally not into him, even though the scene seemed to call for a little reciprocation. (Geez, if she didn't want to do it, they could've hired one of us, huh? She was kind of wooden in other scenes too though.)

It seemed to me at the time I saw it that the MST3K version of Quest of the Delta Knights cut out some of DW's best scenes as the villain, Vultare. Even though the script was pretty bad, he made some of the most trite lines sound hilarious. I wish we could see him do more comedy, don't you? Like Alan Rickman in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, it seems as if he's the only person in the movie who realizes just how bad it is, so he's decided to take it over the top and play it for laughs. (Then again, maybe the filmmakers meant to rip off Rickman's Sheriff?)

Do you suppose maybe he chews gum in the Felony because he just looks so cool doing it? He was a great bad guy in that.

And speaking of *good* movies :-) ... Yup, I loved him in Cinderella! But I don't see it listed at TV Now for this month. And can you believe no Christmas Carol either this year? It's my favorite version.

Flipping channels last night during a bout with insomnia, I caught the last hour of the Felony. Now I remember what you mean about the gum-chewing. It does seem a bit overdone! My guess is it was a cheap device used by a novice screenwriter in an attempt to give his character "personality." Kind of like Joe Don Baker's cowboy suit. True, it's a bad movie, but I've seen far worse! The Felony is bad in the laughable MST3K sense, not in the "I can't believe I'm subjecting myself to this!" sense. (As compared to Ice Cream Man, which literally makes me nauseous to think about, and Loving Deadly, which I can't even bear to watch at all without the fast-forward button!) And DW does look awfully sexy chewing gum!
