Author: The Mountain LIon [ Edit | View ] Date Posted: 12:10:58 03/05/24 Tue Columbia opened its season against a powerful Florida teams that is ranked #4 in the nation after losing in the College World Series last year to LSU. The Florida Gators are led by Jac Caglianone, a two-way player who is probably the leading baseball prospect in the nature. His physical stature resembles Aaron Judge. More than 6,000 fans attended one of the games which was third highest attendance in Florida History. As anticipated, the Lions struggled, but pitcher Andy Leon had an excellent outing and the Lion bats got going with Anton Lazits hitting two home runs. This past weekend Columbia opened at home at Satow Stadium with a three game sweep of Marist. Senior Jack Cooper was voted Ivy League Player of the Week after hitting three home runs in the series with a record breaking 8 rbis in a single game. Columbia, Penn, Harvard and several other Ivy League teams are looking good early in the season. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]
