Wow. Gonna hafta access the replay archives on ESPN+. Even though I've read the spoiler here, I gotta see that. Congratulations to the Lions. It's one thing to win and, by the way, that's enough. It's another to win with flair, with style, with panache.

I'm curious to see how Miller acts as he rounds the bases for his heroic game winner. Is he an arm-waving maniac? Or does he coolly jog around the bags, "I had it all the way, baby. No big deal."

AO: Sam Miller handled it in a commendably controlled way. I happened to meet his parents at the Columbia-Harvard series this past weekend. They're very nice. They introduced me to Jack Kail's mom and explained that Sam and Jack are not only Columbia baseball teammates (and a double-play combination). They were also high school teammates in the Pittsburgh area. Pretty neat. That doesn't happen all that often, right? My sense for many years now is that Brett Boretti generates a really good team chemistry.
