These gals are relentless!
Almost more fun to watch them make a deep run in this tourney than got chopped up and spit out of NCAA grinder.
Go Lions!

Princeton had a great run in 1999 in the NIT. They lost in the quarterfinals to Xavier.

I was living in Cincinnati at the time. A few other Ivy alums (Yale guys) went with me to the game at the old Cincinnati Gardens.

Heck of game. The Gardens were full and rocking. Xavier students were holding up signs saying "Beat the Bookworms!" and "Beat the Nerds!" Princeton took an early lead thanks to then-freshman Chris Young's play. Unfortunately, Xavier eventually wore them down and won.

And my buddies and I were sitting next to a guy with a backpack who claimed he was a Princeton student and had hitchhiked all the way to Cincinnati for the game.

It was something!!

they really are demolishing their opponents in this WBIT! I do think it's ironic we beat Princeton twice - who went to the NCAA. but that is hoops for ya - dem's the rules!

almost feel bad for the good folk of Fargo ND who came out with a good crowd to back the Bison, but I prefer this outcome. Too bad Fliss Henderson is out -- interesting to see some bench players get time though!

as the commentators said during the game - it is really amazing what they have achieved in the last 5 years isn't it ?

The Lions have become a demolition squad in post-season tournament play primarily due to a line-up change that Coach Griffith made due to injuries to starters. Sophomore Mia "Cousy" Broom from Seattle, Washington has taken over at point guard and has been incredible. She is a great athlete and with her behind-the-back passes and the like is fun to watch, The other newcomer to the starting line-up is 6'3" junior, Hilke Feldrappe, another very athletic player who transferred to Columbia from the University of Missouri. Hilke hasn't scored very many points yet, but she is poised for stardom. California's top player is a 6'6" center and the Lions will need help from Hilke in trying to slow her down in the quarter-final game Thursday night.
