I would not have believed it had I not seen it with my own two eyes. For sure, I thought that Yale could win. But to get out strong and then keep a foot on the accelerator for 59 minutes? Very surprising.

GG's observation above, while difficult to explain in any rigorous manner, is backed by empirical evidence. Certain rivalries in this conference do seem to have personalities.

Last week, I mentioned to a friend that we have seen an inferior Princeton team play Harvard tough year after year and in many years win outright as the underdog. Further, when Princeton is the better team, they beat Harvard.

A weaker Princeton against Yale? Almost never. Inferior Tiger teams can't seem to play up against the Bulldogs. At least since 1981.

And GG's use of the word "fear"? I don't know if that's the word I would choose, but I've lived through a long stretch when Harvard seemed to overachieve against Yale and now the tide has turned. Harvard is not Harvard in Week 10. Yale is.
