This season I expect my picks to be more inaccurate than usual. I didn't not spent much time researching. My dad entered hospice on June 2 and died last Tuesday
There's a five way " civil war" over his estate. I hope he has a will.Staring this year the Ivy is no longer a winner take all confrence. Multiple playoff bids are now a possibility.
Will The rare occurrence of having a three way championship two loss teams become the revised norm? I believe Yale will continue to be the most dangerous team during November and might force another tri - champion. I'm most interested to see if our teams can pull of some upsets in the 1-AA playoffs like HYP has done over the last ten years in the NCAA MBB Tournament. I'll also l will also list a key game that will potentially define each teams season. Staring this year for the first time since 2016 there will be no CSFL Champion game, leaving the possibility of any team sharing the championship will Army and/or Navy.

Since Princeton hasn't disclosed much on their 2025 team there're very hard to forecast. I'll have to go back look at my files but I believe The Ivy's have won 68% of OCC games sine 2016, when they barred tacking in practice!

Now the Ivy's are eligible for a national championship at first though of the outstanding Dartmouth and Princeton teams of the 60's- early 70's and how what would’ve happened if they were post season eligible.
Then I remembered prior to 1970 the polls voted their national champion before the Bowls.
Cornell over Albany.Key game: Penn

Dartmouth over UNH 2025 key game: Harvard. This is a defacto league championship game
Harvard over Stetson. Key game: Dartmouth
Penn over Stonehill. Key game: Yale
Georgetown over Cornell. Key game: Penn
Columbia over Lafayette. Key game: Dartmouth. If the Lions can beat the Big Green they have a chance at repeating.
San Diego over Princeton. I'm not confident about this pick. Key game: Brown
Yale over HC.Key game: Harvard. Yale has proven if Harvard wants to win The Ivy they better do it by week 9. Another win over Harvard might be enough for Yale to win a share of the league championship.

Ivy Sprint Football
Penn over Caldwell. Key games: Army and Navy. Penn has to win one of these to have a chance at a split CSFL championship.
Navy over Cornell. Key game: Mansfield

2025 Ivy Predictited Standings
1- Harvard 6-1(9-1)
1- Dartmouth 6-1(9-1)
3- Yale 5-2(8-2)
3- Columbia 5-2(8-2)
5-Penn 4-3(7-3)
6- Brown 2-5 (4-6)
7- Princeton 1-6(3-7)
7- Cornell 1-6(3-7)

Ed S. Thank you for pointing my error so it can be corrected. I'm picking Cornell over Albany.
I also forgot to pick Army as CSFL champion.

UNH over Dartmouth - Wildcats had a close loss to David Letterman's Ball state - a FBS team -- so have a respectable 2-1 record

Harvard over Stetson, don't think the Hatters have a great team - too much mercury

Stonehill beats Penn. Quakers get stoned

Georgetown over Cornell. Hoyas seem to be an improved program - some day people will find out what a hoya is

Columbia over Lafayette. However I am not keen on the fact that we have never won in PA - also the pard's web site says we are co-champions - bugs me -!

San Diego over Princeton. not super sure on this one - long road trip for SD but NJ tigers were in the basement last year

Holy Cross beats Yale. Seems Crusaders had a pretty hard 3 games previous to this matchup

Gentlemen, on opening day, Hope Springs eternal for all of the ancient eight.squads. My pigskin predictions for this weekend are like throwing a dart on a dart board. However, based upon past performance, speculation, supposition and innuendo, my picks are as follows: good result our blue (although based upon disclosed information, this squad is a mystery); cantabs(easiest opponent this weekend); lions, tigers, and Cornelians. not so good result Bears and Indians.

Penn at Stonehill - Penn wins in a close game
Harvard at Stetson - Harvard wins big in the Florida sunshine
New Hampshire at Dartmouth - Dartmouth wins a close one
Cornell at Albany - Albany wins in Cornell's mistake prone opener with new QB

How does Yale win in its first game against a team that is playing its fourth game and has lost in very low scoring to three good teams? They must have an awesome defense. Doesn't look very easy to me.

In My "State of The League" post I mentioned since 2016 The Ivy's have won approximately 68% of their occ games. Yale has habitually stared slow in September/early October so, You could be right about Georgetown.

Columbia plays Lafayette on the road and then Georgetown and Lehigh; the days of scheduling cupcakes to post a few early wins are officially over. I like being tested early, provided we don’t lose key guys to season ending injuries (see, e.g., Justin Townsend going down for the season in the Lafayette win last year).

The Ivy League football season is finally here! Well almost since its only Tuesday. I agree with Harvard Crimson Rule's picks with the exception of Cornell at Albany. While I will cheer for the Big Red, I think the team will be figuring out who can play quarterback. Secondly I am still concerned about our running game and a defense that gave up a lot of yardage last year. Hey you never know. Go Big Red!

It is great to have the season start, hoping for good weather at all of the games.

For the P offense, the development of Hipa at QB is key. I understand he has worked hard in the off-season and I am hoping the year of experience will lend to his growth at the position. At the WR spot, our most experienced player has 13 receptions. So, a lot of stepping up is needed. The OLine suffered some graduation losses and we will have to see how the rotation works out. The strength of the offense probably remains at RB. But with Carr not on the roster now that is a less experienced, versatile group. Clark and Murphy, who both missed games last season, will have to pick up the slack created by Carr's absence and Volker's graduation. To me, overall the offense is a question I hope can start to be answered favorably on Saturday.

I think the strength of the defense is again at DB; looks like a lot of experience and depth. LB has a good starting group, not sure about depth. DLine seems to be a similar story, but maybe not quite as strong in the starting group as at LB. The upside to the injuries last season, though, is that a number of backups got more experience than they normally would have.

Am I misrembering or did our opening opponents used to have played two games before playing an Ivy, at least at some point? Opening against a team with 3 games played seems a pretty big disadvantage for the 8 Ivies, although I suppose that can be significantly mitigated if the opener is against a weak team, regardless of having played 3 games.

I know nothing about San Diego.

As always, injuries, illness, other absences will affect our teams, and relative game day availability can sometimes matter. Hope springs eternal.

So, they did upset a team ranked 24 and have given up no turnovers.
