Subject: Just got here, hoping to become a sailor one day

Hello all, I just moved to Port Townsend from East Texas. I moved up here for a number of reasons, but not the least was the fact that it is close to Bellingham and The Oar Club. I've read Seasteading and have Jay's other books on my to-read pile. I've poked through the online material as I've had the time, but this is the first opportunity I've had to post to the forum.

Life is short, so I'll cut to the chase. I liked the idea of engineless sailing so much that I went and bought a boat without an engine. It's at a marina in Seattle, and I'm faced with the challenging (for me) task of getting it to a marina near where I live. I've had exactly one sailing lesson (which was only my third time on the water) so I'm completely unqualified to bring it here myself. I thought this might be right place to look for help with this conundrum. Any hints, tips, or suggestions on how these things are usually done would be welcome. It might also be an opportunity for the right person (i.e. someone I was convinced knew what they were doing) to earn some money.

The guy I bought the boat (a 1973 Rawson 30) from said it could be moved with a 10-hp outboard, but as I am a complete newbie I have no idea if that's true. I'm also aware of the fact that I can have it towed, but I would learn nothing doing that and would just end up in the situation I am in now, with an engineless boat in a slip with no idea how to get it out again. I also know that you can hire a skipper, but I don't know if those guys will touch a boat without an engine (I haven't asked yet).

I just thought I would throw this out there. I have set myself the goal of getting the boat here before the end of October, which I will accomplish one way or another.
