- They took off -- Coremar, 20:05:03 05/11/02 Sat
The red's massive legs pushed off from the ground, setting them many feet upward and into open air. Wings snapped open to beat about the air and bring them up to a high altitude.
(occ: chaos! chaos! I didn't expect to get so busy at work and school and . .. yeah, I should be making time for this place, eech)

- The sun peaked over the ridge -- Coremar and Treckel, Zillay and Altel, and Tyar and Grilimar, 15:36:40 04/11/02 Thu
The tan and swom appeared, packed and ready to go. Tyar had been sure to pack plenty of trep and writing utencils of various makes. It was hard to tell between Altel and Zillay who was the more excited.
Coremar noted that the only one left was Sevron. She muttered something about having should have woken him up when she awakened, but she'd give him ten more minutes before she went up after him with a pail of water. It was apparent she was somewhat annoyed by the fact he wasn't up and ready yet.

- Leavetakings at Dawn -- Tylan and Machidiel, 15:57:51 03/06/02 Wed
Machidiel? Tylan prompted softly, creeping around his small dran.
I'm awake, came the amused affirmation from the orange dragon, stretching on his ledge.
Just checking. Distracted, he circled the room again, I just know I'm going to forget something...
Do you have your trep? I don't want to hear you complaining when you've nothing to write on...
Yes, one of the first things I packed, actually. D'you think we'll need those spare flying leathers? I just picked them up yesterday... Oh, and-
Enough, 'Lan! This time, it was Calli who put in, You've packed and unpacked at least ten times already, you haven't forgotten anything! And if I'm not mistaken, that's a red dragon waiting outside, and it's not Zishon...
"Alright," he spoke to the empty air around him, "that's it. That's everything. We're ready to go."
Thank you! Caden chirruped teasingly, earning a sideways glance from the rider, who dragged his travelling gear out onto the ledge, setting it down carefully.
"Down, please, Machidiel," he requested, sliding the flying harness over the dragon's head, "You're not quite so small as you used to be, after all."
Which is a good thing, the orange added. Tylan grinned, strapping his pack securely to the harness. He had packed rather lightly, but he supposed it was for the better. Before mounting up, he hesitated.
"Maybe I should just-"
'Lan!
"Alright, then... I guess not."
Within moments, rider, dragon, and drakes glid silently down towards where their leader waited.

- Treckel flicked her massive tail impatiently. -- Coremar and Treckel, 20:04:26 03/03/02 Sun
It wasn't quite dawn, but the pair were already awake. She was determined to be ready. If the others weren't awake an hour after dawn she'd get them up herself. The Redrider heaved the large sacks over her shoulder and strided across the short distance form the Dran's door to where Treckel was sitting upon the grassy turf. Sure, it would have been easier just to have Treckel on the ledge and load her there, but she'd much rather drag the supplies all the way down to the base of the Dran and then strap it upon her dragon.
"Today is the day Treckel. We'll be heading out before sunset and then it's 17 more sunsets until we return." She pulled the heavy bags up onto Treckel's harness and began to firmly strap them in place.
We better leave before noon after getting up this early. Treckel remarked.
Coremar chuckled. "That we will."

- She reshuffled a few papers upon her desk. -- Coremar, 20:50:41 02/25/02 Mon
"Now that all of you are here and have been so patiently waiting," she grinned upon some of the antsier members of the group, "I would like to note that this is no routine flight. This is a serious expedition. To my knowledge there hasn't been anything like this attempted before. Certainly we have the Mappers who travel all around Eastern and Alast, but, from what I've gathered, no one has tried to view what is beyond the vast oceans.
"I know some were dissapointed that the Lephs and the Greys were not allowed to come, but there is good reason. Being as we have no idea HOW far it is before ANY mass of land there is no telling how long we'll be on the wing or if the smaller dragons would be able to last for long periods of time." Her fingers played with the edges of the trep upon her desk.
"Our first outing will be in six days. We will be out for a minimum of 17 days, if we don't find anything. Questions?"

Some were easier than others to mark off. At the end she had six names. These were scribbled upon a seperate piece of Trep.
Ty and tan Panyr
Sevron and hran Daerel
Tyar and tan Grilimar
Zillay and svom Altel
Tylan and orange Machidiel
Elliot with hran Galarel
She caught a passing worker and asked him to find the riders and call them to her quarters. The worker nodded and hurried off.

- It was the last meal of the day -- Coremar, 19:58:02 12/20/01 Thu
The redrider thumped her sturdy mug against the table, calling attention to herself before she stood. Since Janay and Y'ray left, she was as good as Dran Mistress, though why Aria hadn't stepped up was beyond her.
She cleared her throat and then spoke up, loud enough for all to hear. "Some of you may have already seen the notice that is going around. I have decided that an exebition should be taken. Beyond what we know of Lemies. Certainly there are places on Alast and Easter still needing to be explored, but we've never travled beyond that. I put up a proposition, that, upon the opening of the next year which is in but a few weeks, we set out. I will be seeking at least five other riders to join me. Any of you with skills in mapping would be the first to be put down for consideration."
She paused to look out at those gathered. "Someone will also have to take up the slack for me while I'm gone. Feel free to shot out any questions now."

*The dranling master called all the dranlings to attention.* Good morning everyone. I hope that we are all prepaired for todays lession, because, kiddies, it's time for you all to grow up. It's time to Fly. *His eye held a twinkle in it, he watched the exitement and remembered his first flying, before everything went worng...* B'rri! Dranlings. Thanks Bal, I was almost away then. Well, If I wasn't here youd be done for.
Now, as there's so many of you I'll be splitting you all into groups. Group 1 will include Ty & Panyr, Ro & Feagari *He continued to list names for all the groups. (OOC - Group 1, all you played charactors.)* Group one, your with me now. The rest of you, you have some free time, use it wisely. Lets go.
*He led them to a harness room, filled with flying gear and harnesses of multiple sizes.* As you and your dragons are still growing you'll all spend a lot of time in here, refiting your harnesses. So I'm asking you all now to find a small selection of harnesses that look about the correct size for your dragons, and some flying gear for you. Call your dragons and wait outside when your done.
Bal? You ready?
I'm on my way over now. Better ask Ty if Panyr's up to this mind, she may have been told not to fly her yet.
Thats a good point, I'll ask her now.
*He wandered casually over to Ty.*
Ty? How's Panyr doing? Is she up to this, or does she still need a little time?

Treckel's kind were out there, in greater numbers, just not HERE. It could be possible . . . dragons can fly far, and if trouble rises, it's just a few seconds and they're back at the Dran . . .. A definate possibility.
She continued striding back and forth as she thought, hands flitting about, occationally rubbing her chin or flicking annoying hair out of her face.

- Meant to post this a while ago... -- Aislinne & Birinfa, Belial, Trelena, M'kar and Dremel, 14:55:10 11/05/01 Mon
"How's she doing?" a grinning Belial stood over his younger sister, ruffling her hair. M'kar and Trelena ambled over.
"She's asleep," Aislinne replied happily, the little dragonet pulled halfway onto her lap. Idly, she ran a hand along the smooth, supple ash-gray hide, letting it rest where she could feel the soft rise and fall of Birinfa's chest. Never in her wildest dreams had she imagined herself here. She'd have been thrilled just to watch the Hatching, let alone find the long lost lifemate she'd never realized she'd been missing...
Her eyelids drooped even as she thought, and suddenly it occurred to her how late it was, and how tired both she and Birinfa were. But she couldn't stand to wake the little gray...
"Ais, come on, you should be getting to your bed," Belial murmured softly, touching a hand to the girl’s shoulder, but she was already sound asleep. “Trel?” he asked, inclining his head towards the sleeping pair.
Trelena scooped up the dragonet, if a bit awkwardly, but soon had her comfortably held, ashen muzzle resting on her shoulder, one arm supporting from beneath, the other encircling the midsection, careful not to bruise the carefully folded little wings. Birinfa was no lightweight, that was for sure, but she didn’t weigh any more than an older child, and their destination wasn’t too far away…
Belial soon had Aislinne cradled against his chest, and Trelena took the lead, smirking slightly. It wasn’t often when she knew her way around somewhere better than he did. M’kar hung back, watching them.
He’d’ve had to find out sooner or later, he sighed.
But what can you do about it? Dremel replied. There was no immediate response. Then again, none was needed…

- Treckel bugled -- Coremar and Treckel, 21:55:49 10/19/01 Fri
The dragon hadn't meant it. No, it wasn't her fault that in her rage she chased him, wasn't her fault that in her feinted dive the sheer force of it had caused her wake to knock him off. No, wasn't the red to blame. The medics just shook their heads and shrugged their shoulders as they took him away. Some might say he deserved it, hitting a dragon. Others looked upon the red and her kind with all the more caution.

- *Tori watched with baited breath, praying her father wouldn't find her here untill it was over -- Ty & Panyr, 13:51:19 09/29/01 Sat
she watched while all Yellows and Greys came out of their eggs, and was half suprised when emeralds, blues, coppers and whites also came out onto the sands. As she watched them pair off she began to feel nervus that she wouldn't be chosen, but she soon pushed that thought doen as a Blue and a green hatchling came out onto the sands. Tori's heart fluttered, would they? But they went on to find different matches As her head fell towards her chest she noticed two tans and a Brown come onto the sands. Suddenly she herd a Purring noise as a light female voice entered her thoughts.*
I am Panyr, and I am yours, do not be sad, you have me now.
*Tori's head shot up as she herd the voice and looked arround, confused as to it's origin. the female had reached her now and she found a light tan head pushed into her hands that were clasped infrount of her.*
Panyr?
*She asked Dazedly*
Yes, Panyr, and hungry as well. Please may we eat.
You may, I shall be eating tonight.
*As she walked off thesands it slowly began to dawn on Tori that she needed a new name, Rider changed their names, didn't they. As she was mulling this over she ran her eye's over her dragon, familiriseing herself with the tan females body. It was longer than most of the others, but she herself was shorter. Eventually her eye's rested on the Dark Silouhette that looked like a dragon in flight. she gasped audibly, eye's wide.
This shock didn't last long however as her father had finnaly found his errant daughter. He stood watching her, fear upon his face as he looked at the Tan female infrount of her. Tori looked up, all thought of markings and new names forgotten at tht moment. Slowly she tood up and backed off, leaveing Pan looking very confused and frightened.*
Ty! Your freightening me! Stop it!
Ty? Where'd you get that from?
You though it. Now please feed me, I wont hurt you, you are mine and I am yours, what ever hurts you hurts me
*Slowly Tori forced herself to calm down and looked arround for Corremar or an older rider to help her. She almost considered calling out for help as her father strode over to her, shakeing with rage. He stoped inches away from her, his figure was muscular, and he payed the the little tan with red eye's no heed. Grasping Tori's wrist with one hand he began to pull her away.*
You should have come home Tori
*His voice was gruff and his grip hard, but still Ty did not call out. Instead she suddenly pulled back with all her weight, and Pan's, getting herself free, but not with out and injury. Holding her hand she faced her father.*
My name is Ty. I'm no longer Tori, no longer a skivy. You cant take me home.
*Her voice was strong but fake, and she trembled with fear. But she did not dare to look away to see if help was comeing for her, all she knew was that it was her and Panyr.*

He had been mulling over a new name for himself ever since he'd set eyes on his wonderful Akiru, and was still pulling a complete blank.
I'm partial to Taean, a drowsy voice murmured at the back of his mind.
What? Oh, sorry, 'Kiru, didn't realize I'd woken you up, the boy replied, remembering to form the statement as a thought. But... what was that?
Taean. Tay-an, Akiru repeated, You thought it up, not me. And it fits you, I think. Why don't you silly humans know your names when you're Hatched? He asked.
We're not Hatched, we're born, Taean automatically corrected, And I was born with a name, just that m'parents made it up. And now I've got to change it. I don't suppose you'd know what to change your name to, he countered.
No, Akiru thought for a moment on that, but I'm never going to have to change it. And I think you like Taean, too, he added. For a Hatchling only out of the shell a few days, he was surprisingly smart, and Taean was rather proud of him. Scratching the little orange just above the eye, he responded out loud, "You're right, I do. Taean it is, then."

- Plesent surprise -- Iritem and Grilimar, 17:29:31 09/26/01 Wed
The tan-bodied female was rather assertive, especially for what Iritem would take as the equivilent of the Emeralds amongst the Lemies. But apparently just their general appearances weren't the only differences between the two.
The new rider thought carefully about a new name for herself. It'd be the name she'd be called for the rest of her life. Not something to be taken lightly at that. Well, it could wait for a day or two. She fed the hungry young dragon eagerly. Soon Grilimar would eat herself full and sleep, then Iritem would most likely pilfer from the kitchens any leftovers.

Her mouth hangs open.
"I know I'm surely the most beautiful hatchling here, but beauty isn't everything. Hunger counts for something too." The hatchling spoke in a regal tone, and one would have almost thought her a Queen. "You are supposed to feed me, you know." A laughing sound filled Kiara's head. "I suppose I can wait for a moment, though I am very hungry. What shall your new name be?"
"I haven't really thought about it. I suppose I'll choose Kira." She spoke out loud, and seemed to be able to think again. "Wow, an Emerald." She grinned, and remembered to speak telepathically. "We'll be great together, Vinquil."
"Of course we will. I shall be the greatest green ever."
Together they left the sands.

"I guess I have to change my name. I think I'll pick K'trina. It's close to my old name. Do you think they'll let me keep Kat as a nickname?"
I'm sure they'll call you whatever they want, whoever "they" is, but I'm very hungry, so please hurry."

- Taurean and Cambryn (Taean and Cam?) -- ..., 13:07:32 09/23/01 Sun
(occ- Hmmm... as for shortening names... Cam works for Cambryn, I suppose, but I'm thinking maybe Taean (Tay-an) for Taurean...?)
"Don't you even think of running..." Cambryn warned as the first dragonet, a yellow Clamon, made its appearance.
Taurean let out an aggrivated sigh. All he wanted to do was edge off the Sands without being noticed. He caught a glance of someone in the passageway, with an excellent view of the Hatching. Acamar. Now he couldn't run, at least without looking like a coward. He glared at S'vron, whose fault it was that he was out here, burning his feet off, but soon found out that he couldn't help but become caught up in the Hatching.
His attention was caught by a green Clamon who wobbled over towards them. "Shards, Cambryn, he's looking right at you!" And sure enough, Grethmir claimed the older boy as his.
Now there was nobody stopping Taurean from leaving, but he found that he actually wanted to stay. Maybe he did have a chance after all...
Of course you do, Taurean! An orange dragonet swaggered towards him, and when he recieved no sign of a response from Taurean, spoke up, Um... hello? I know I'm good looking, but can you please stop gaping long enough to feed me? Akiru joked.
"Oh, yeah. This way," the ex-Candidate steered Akiru off of the Sands.
That's more like it, Akiru strutted alongside him, showing the crowd just who was the handsomest dragonet of them all.

- Evina & Faylinn -- Evina & Zishon, Faylinn & Tinime, 12:39:12 09/23/01 Sun
Both girls' gaze were trained on the egg that cracked first. It was a yellow. “Oooh,” breathed Evina as she watched the hatchling, nudging Faylinn.
“I see it, ‘Vina!” Fay told her impatiently, too distracted to spare her a glance. The Clamon quickly found its match with Katid, and a misty grey dragonet broke free of its shell.
“Evina!” this time it was Faylinn who nudged the other. Ignoring Evina’s protest, she was completely entranced by the little dragonet. “Tinime? Oh, I’m coming, Tinime!” And she ran to meet her new lifemate halfway, dropping to her knees to wrap the dragonet in an embrace. After a few moments, she rocked back a little to look Tinime in the eye. “What’s that? Oh, yes of course, you would be hungry, now wouldn’t you?” And the pair exited the Sands.
Evina cheered, and once they were out of sight, returned her immediate attention back to the clutch. Dragonet after dragonet hatched and claimed their Candidates, leaving Evina standing. Why don't they even look at me? She wondered sullenly, when one of the greys went purposely out of her way to reach the stands, where a lucky girl Imprinted.
Suddenly, the large egg with the reddish sheen split open neatly, and the regal red dragonet swaggered down the row of remaining Candidates, inspecting each of them.
Yes, you're the one I've been looking for. I'm Zishon, Evina, and you are mine...

- (occ: um . . . yeah, I have 1 hour before it's tomorrow right?) -- Dragons, 22:42:53 09/22/01 Sat
Treckel sent up an errie warble as the first of the eggs showed signs of hatching.
Candidates flooded in. The stands filled. Many just for the mere bragging rights of being at the red's first hatching. Eggs began rolling and cracking near being symotanious with the first few. Yellow hide gleamed, though it held no hint of the mettalic that the Lemies golds held. The Clamon raised his head and called out. Sharp eyes settled upon Katid. It announced it's name as being "Birquan."
A gray-colored Clamoun sought out Faylinn. Her soft croon asking for attention. She was to be called Tinime.
Another yellow found his match with a lad as its brown brother found his. Three blues sought out three male candidates as a green-skinned clamon chirruped at Cambryn, stating himself as "Grethmir".
A fourth blue found his match as an Emerald sought freedom from her shell, she eventually cast her eyes upon Guenimea, claiming the name "Kalemin" as well as the candidate before her as her own.
A gray-bodied female claimed Ro as her own, proclaiming the name "Faegri" as her own. A blue and then a second emerald who stated Kiara would be her match for life, her name "Vinquil"
A third emerald and another gray clamon found their matches upon the sands. They were followed closely by a brown and another green Clamon. A firey orange erruped from its shell, head held regaly as he sought the one worthy of himself. Vinkant was startled as Haelsic strongly staked his claim upon the young candidate.
A copper strutted upon the sands next, then an emerald followed closely by a white and yet another emerald and white. The gray Birinfa found Aislinne to be the match for her out of the others upon the sands.
A white and a second copper went hunting for their matches as a tan-hided Clamon stated, rather assertively, that Iritem would be her match, from then until forever. The now ex-candidate grined down upon the tan beauty that claimed the name "Grilimar".
Gray followed by two whites and another gray found their matches. Emerald, blue, and white found what they were seeking upon the sands. A blue and it's green, Clamon counterpart picked their matches just as a second tan graced the sands and found Katarina to her liking. "Sayir" was what she proclaimed herself to be. Another brown and then the smaller, female tan found themselves seeking their matches. The tan female seemingly purred as she found Tori. She was to be called "Panyr". Her body was a rich tan with the peculiarity of having a darker muzzle and a second dark patch upon her right shoulder, seemingly the silouett of a clamon in flight.
The next to escape from her shell was an emerald. Proclaiming the name Mirisel as her own to Dezra. A yellow followed the emerald Mirisel, then another orange, blue followed closely by emerald and then a brown and a copper. The next, an orange, found Taurean. His name was "Akiru".
Four eggs remained. Those left on the sands were no doubt pondering their chances of attraccting the attention of the last eggs, one being the Red.
The red irruped from her shell, a shrill call announcing her entry as she eyed the remaining female candidates. A copper followed her hatching, and then a yellow. She found Evina and released a high trill and the name "Zishon" to the candidate.
The last to claim his space upon the sands was an orange. He found Tallon, calling himself "Machidiel".
And that was that, the hatching was complete.
(occ: Anyone with more candidates they want to toss in, we have plenty of space, type up their name(s), age, gender, and then a brief personality description under this post. Thank you. Sorry for the delay . . . I was rather buisy today.)

- (OCC- Sorry, its getting kinda late, so I can't stay on... -- ..., 18:44:55 09/22/01 Sat
...Also- Aislinne & Belial could Imprint if needed, they'll be in the stands... Creean and Vivain can be here if they want, they were offered a dragonride over from Phyllat...)
*****
Trelena rushed in and reserved some good seats, and shortly enough, M'kar entered with the others.
"So, Ais, how do you like it?" Belial wanted to know, grinning down at her.
"Oh, 'Lial, its wonderful! And Trel and 'Kar, thank you so much!" Aislinne was ecstatic.
*****
Evina was glad she'd set her things out ahead of time, and yanked her candidate's robe over her head long before most of the other girls had even found theirs. As she started out the door, she was trailed by another candidate, with long, straight blonde hair and brown eyes. "Faylinn," she supplied.
"And I'm Evina. Nervous?" she asked as they arrived at the entranceway.
"Definetely," came the shaky reply.
*****
"Taurean!" S'vron at last caught sight of the boy, just as Daerel informed him it was time.
"Yeah?" The boy whirled around, recognizing the voice just as the humming started. "Shards..." he murmured, awestruck.
"Here, boy, don't just stand there, put this on!" The copper rider untucked the bundled robe and shook it out, then pulled it over his head. "Come on!"
With an exasperated sigh, S'vron steered the candidate to the entranceway just as another boy ran up, late as usual. "Here, ah, Cambryn, make sure Taurean gets out there and stays out there!" he instructed, then ran out to join Coremar, Treckel, and Daerel.
"Yes, sir!" a startled Cambryn replied, staring after the rider.
*****
Tallon took a corner seat in the stands, opting to simply watch the hatching from a bystander's point of view. Having his drakes to give him extra warning, he managed to get there rather early and took a front-row seat, far enough in the corner where he wouldn't be noticed, let alone asked to move.
*****
All eyes were transfixed on the eggs, both "traditional" and exotic in color, waiting for one to crack.

- The two whites were ready to go. -- Trelena and M'kar, 15:23:31 09/22/01 Sat
"Ready?" M'kar asked, looking over at Trelena.
"Ready as I'm going to be," she replied with a grin. "It's been a while since we've seen 'Lial, hasn't it?"
"Since these two hatched," M'kar replied, giving Dremel an affectionate clap on the shoulder.
Trel checked her safety straps and settled in, "Ais is going to be so excited. She's never been to a hatching, has she?"
"Not that I know of. Nor has she been inside a dran," M'kar added. "Got your coordinates?"
Trel nodded a reply, "Let's go!" Zwenel crouched and sprang skyward, Dremel following soon after. Both whites blinked nowhere, off to Phyllat Court.

Yes, I'm sure. Keep looking. He has to be out there, the dragonets must have a choice of candidates! Daerel insisted. See, this is why we should have a drake or two!
Nuh-uh. Never. It's bad enough I've got you,S'vron teased, then paused. He had spotted another boy that he'd seen with Taurean a few times, and walked over.
"Excuse me, but have you seen Taurean?" he asked hopefully.

- Candidate jitters... -- Evina, 16:18:45 09/20/01 Thu
Evina started randomly rearranging things near her cot. Each day, the eggs got harder and harder, and within the next few days, they'd finally hatch.
Until then, she decided she'd get her things ready. She went through her clothes and selected a simple yet nice outfit for the Hatching Feast, setting it out on top alongside her candidate's robe. She wouldn't be one of those caught tearing her belongings apart when the dragons began their humming.
Finished straightening up, she forced her springy dark curls into a hair tie and changed into a charcoal-grey tunic that offset her wide grey eyes, starting off for the dining caverns for a snack.

- He was pretty much the youngest candidate this hatching. -- Vinkant, 14:36:38 09/10/01 Mon
He was nearing 12 rotations. Being as both of his parents were riders he was permitted to stand at 11. He was sitting not far from the entrance to the sands, far enough away not to disturb the broody red dragon. The Cintrie on his shoulder chirped and tucked at his thick, dark hair. Without taking his eyes off of the activity now coming about upon the sands with a girl wandering onto the sands he sated his companion with a small piece of the sandwitch in his hand.
He chuckled to himself. Anyone blind enough to wander onto the sands without realizing it deserved the full fury of that dragon upon them. But Treckel didn't burst into her full fury having Coremar near her.
An awesome sight to behold, that red. Golds had their beauty, but it seemed that all the other dragons of Lemies were less refined. That one, single red was the only one of her kind known throughout Lemies. That would change, he thought as he noted the red sheen of the largest egg upon the sand that the red protected with great furvor.
With a small warble and a few flaps of it's feathere wings the Cintrie shifted it's perch to the boy's knee rather than his shoulder.

"Yes, Searched. Imagine that, a dragon actually wantin' me ta Imprint a dragonet," Taurean leaned against a wall and sank slowly to the stone floor.
"But- but you didn't, right? I mean, you wouldn't desert me?" Came the worried response.
"Shards, Ace, ya know I want to, more'n anything! But- it's jus' I don' think I can! I wouldn' know what t' do with a dragonet! And why on Lemies would one of 'em choose me?"
They sat in silence for a while, until Taurean spoke again.
"I think I'm goin' back t' that copper rider."
"Ya mean, you're goin' t' tell 'im ya can't, right?" Acamar asked hopefully.
"Not 'xactly. I think I'm goin' t' do it. It's worth a chance, right?" Taurean seemed almost hopeful.
Acamar turned on a very worn boot heel and dashed off in the opposite direction, as he muttered bitterly, "I don't believe ya, Taur!"
The newest Candidate stared after him in confusion.

- Walked hurriedly through the lower corridors of the dran. -- S'vron, Adria, and Taurean, 10:53:09 08/21/01 Tue
Turn right here. No, left! Daerel gave his rider directions, trying to locate the boy he'd noticed quite a few days ago. There! Knock on the door, he's in there!
S'vron hesitated before knocking on the door. He didn't like to have Daerel seek out Taurean by going into his thoughts, but there was no other way to locate him. After a few moments' pause, the door was opened by a woman, in her mid-thirties or so. She looked startled at the sight of a dragonrider at her door, but didn't hesitate to introduce herself. "I'm Adria, and what brings you here, rider? Have Acamar and Taurean been causing trouble again?"
"No, no, not at all," S'vron assured her, "But I do need to speak with Taurean, if that's alright with you."
Adria looked suspicious but disappeared back into the room, and shortly after, a dark haired boy stepped out, icy blue eyes surveying the rider.

It was hard for the rider not to feel her dragon's excitement. "Other than the ones being brought in, have you managed to find anyone from our own Dran?" She questioned.
Yes, actually. He is rather young, even if his parents are the former leaders of this Dran. Only eleven.
"Really?" Quilla asked as she got the dragon's harness off of it's hook. "You mean that little trouble-maker Vinkant?"
Who else? The emerald turned her eyes to her rider as she approached.
"We better find him then, which can be near-impossible." She slung the harness over the dragon's neck and began fastening the straps.
He's over by the lake, entertaining that Cintrie of his.
"Take us down there my noble, green, friend." Requested the nimble emeraldrider as she climbed up and settled herself in.
Seabrel went into a glide right from her high-level dran. They landed in the grass that was a few feet away from the lake itself and the stone that surrounded it.

She had written to her father saying that she was having trouble selling Winter, the black tabon behind her. The reply had not been good. Two weeks was all she had. Had a buyer not been found by then she was to leave the mare and return. In truth Tori haddn't even been trying to sell Winter, she loved her mare, and she also loved the dragons that were arround her, and she found herself unable to leave them, watching them fly. Her father wanted her back before the birthing season began this year, so she could do all the cleaning up of the stalls, removeing the after births etc. She was the eldest at home, 17, yet her father trused her 15 year old brother more than her with his precious mares. She began to walk the grounds, unconsiously heading for the hatching grounds where Treckels clutch was.*
the only reason he sent me this time was because Wren had a three year old that dad gave him. Wren gets a horse of his own, but I've got to sell mine. I saved Winter when she didn't fit in to his faster breed of Tabon, and now that he's seen what she looks like he wants to turn a profit.
*With these thoughts Tori began to wonder onto the hot sands...*

I'm not sure who you mean by the three official candidates, but I know I have four who could Imprint: Cambryn, Faylinn (who have already been Searched and presented), Tallon (who was Searched and could Imprint this time around), and Taurean, who has yet to be approached about candidacy. I'm still debating about whether or not to have Acamar become a candidate too, but I will if you're still coming up short.

She slowly unpacked her carry-case into the oversized trunk and shoves several items on the small stand and shelf next to her bed. With a deep breath she fell back on the bed and stared at the ceiling.
Staring at the ceiling gives one many thoughts to ponder. First off, how they kept them so clean being several feet over her own head and being made of stone.
She rolled to her stomach and grabbed her pillow, now staring at the brown rock that made the wall. She lay there for a while, thinking.

- A young boy, barely ten, made an appearance in the kitchens -- Vinkant, 11:38:24 08/05/01 Sun
There was a fresh plate of rolls conveniently close to the doorway where he peered about the corner for anyone watching. This was Vinkant, the only child of the Dran Mistress Janay. Though to most eveyone else he was just another of the little brats that roamed the hallways of the Dran. He cast a glance this way and that and snatched the closest two rolls off the plate and deftly hid them before sneaking off stealthily around the corner and down the hall.

Makes scense doesn't it? Altel replied with her own question.
"I suppose, but I still wonder." The rider launched herself up and into the seat of the harness, making a few slight adjustments she stretched out. "I'm ready to go."
Where are we going to sweep now? The dragon launched to the air. She cleared the rim of the Dran and glid easily down the slope on the other side.
"Just Stanmar and the smaller ones surrounding it."
Feel like checking in on the relatives?
"Not today. My sister has enough trouble keeping that brood of apprentices under controll, she doesn't need me distracting her."
The emerald snorted and promptly made their exit to Stanmar. She had a fondness for the young master artist, mostly for the attention she gained from her.

- "Well, well" -- Iritem, 19:05:55 07/12/01 Thu
She said, having her peak of the eggs on the sand as every other member of the Dran had by now. "This looks rather promising." She grinned and continued down the hallway. She might have a chance after all. "It's about time we have another clutch on the sands. Been over a year since the last." She mused to herself as she walked on.
Iritem had stood at the last hatching, though none of the young dragons had found her to their liking. She figured it was all for the better though. More time to think. Besides, not all found their match their second time on the sands, or even the third or fourth, as she knew had happened to Coremar who'd stood on the sands for several years, moreso than she had, and look at what a wonderful match she found?
Yes, this clutch was definately promising, especially considering the possibilities of those eggs. So many of them, and many colors never before imagined to exist. She reached the familar door of the candidate's quarters and turned the nob, pushing it open. She was greeted by a few of the other candidates who's voices were noticably exited. She smiled in return and continued to her room in the girl's corridor.
Shuffling through her chest at the foot of the bed she grinned at finding the bound packet of trep and a pen. One of life's greatest escapes, drawing. She left her room and the candidate's quarters and went outside. What better place to draw with so many subjects such as the dragons?

Trelena nearly jumped, but not wanting to disturb her sleeping dragon, or whomever was beside her, for that matter, she turned over to face him. As she saw his face, the events of the previous day were remembered, and she recalled that the rather handsome young man had introduced himself as J'hn.
Without waking him or either dragon, she slipped out of bed and dressed. To her surprise, she found a tray of still-warm breakfast outside her door, most likely left by a thoughtful kitchen worker. She brought it inside, wondering when J'hn would awaken.

There might have been a few candidates in the Dran currently, yes, but not enough to satisfy the demands of this clutch. 51 eggs. Wow. That was a lot by any standards. Maybe just the boost the Drans needed before the Elizer start their attack.
A thought tickled the back of her mind. Eastern and Alast couldn't be the only two masses of land upon this planet. And just where did Treckel get into the bloodline of the Lemies dragon. There must be an awnser somewhere and it wouldn't be found on either Alast or Eastern. Both were regularly patrolled by both the mappers and the dragonriders.
According to a wild gold there are more than just two continents. Treckel remarked.
Coremar looked up quickly, slightly startled by the suddeness of Treckel's statement. Treckel rumbled happily.
You're pretty proud of yourself aren't you Treckel?
And you are as well. Treckel replied.
I suppose. coremar said.

- Treckel settled after the last egg found its resting place upon the sands. -- Coremar and Treckel, 11:28:47 07/02/01 Mon
The rather astonished rider had been counting off since the first egg. Now, 51 eggs lay sprawled upon the sands. Each glistening in wetness and being arranged by the red Treckel who took the best of care as she organized the eggs. One was slightly larger than the rest, displaying an almost metallic red sheen. This was indefinately the largest clutch that Coremar had seen in all of her days at Golan.
Her eyes wandered from the familiar blue, green, white, brown, and copper-flecked eggs and moved over the black, purple, aqua, silver, and orange speckled eggs. Never before had there been such a site at Golan, or any other Dran since they were founded so many years ago.

- Dranbrats at Work... *hehehe* I figure we need a few of the little rascals to spice things up a bit. -- Taurean and Acamar, 17:59:48 06/18/01 Mon
"Whatcha wanna do t'day, 'Mar?"
Two boys sat at the shores of the Dran lake, skimming flat stones across its surface. The one who had spoken was a young lad of about 13 Rotations. Even so, he was the oldest of the pair, stuck hanging out with the other 11 Rotation-old boy because he had no other company.
"I dunno, Taur, whatdya feel like doin'?" he drawled out lazily, lobbing another stone across the sparkling lake. It skipped around eight or ten times before plopping into the water.
"Good 'un." The one called Taur observed.
"Not really. Oh- I got the perfect idea!" Acamar's pale greenish eyes lit up with mischeif. He looked very much the little prankster, with curly golden red hair, those mischevious eyes, and a devlish grin.
"Not makin' trouble fer the kitchen workers agin?" Taurean sighed and tossed his head to clear his icy blue eyes of the dark forelock that had a habit of falling in place there. He would have been considered a nice boy, that is, if he hadn't fallen into the habit of wreaking havoc on the dran with his younger accomplice.
"But wasn' that fun?" 'Mar asked impatiently. It was well known that a boy of 11 was practically hyperactive, and would try anything for kicks, and if he found something he liked, would do it repetitively until at last he grew tired of it.
"No, Acamar, it was def'netely not fun scrubbin' them grimy pots for over a week. And all a 'cuz of a little... ah... spiced stew."
"It woulda been easier if we had them little drakes. Perfect little lookouts, mischief makers, and I hear they're every bit as smart as you 'n me! And- get this, Taur-" the excited boy looked about ready to burst, "I hear ya can find 'em anywheres, bein' as they're feral 'n all."
"Really?" For once Taurean wasn't pretending to be interested in what the younger boy had to say. "Well, where d'ya s'pose we could find one o' these little critters? Can't be too hard... let's go! We's gonna find ourselves some drakes!"
With that, the two fosterling dran brats went off on another little adventure.

- Rumbling dragon -- Coremar and Treckel, 20:17:27 06/15/01 Fri
The large red bulk of Treckel lay sprawled out upon the grass of Golan Dran. She was obviously egg-laden, the hatching grounds would be full of many, soft, leathery eggs in but a few day's time.

- After flight thoughts -- Coremar and Treckel, 21:35:02 04/26/01 Thu
It wasn't too much of a surprise to wake up and find someone she didn't even know. It also wasn't a surprise to find that she'd slept well into the next day. Outside it was still dark and stormy, the sheets of rain still hadn't stopped since they started just hours after the flight had finally ended.
She sighed and rolled over, her eyes wandered the walls of her Dran. There wasn't much on them except for sources of light such as a candle or two.
She knew that Treckel was still sleeping soundly. For a moment she marvled about her lifemate. The red dragon. How much different would her life be if she had gotten the gold that rested on the sands that day, near three Rotations ago. She was twenty-one now, a lot had changed. For one she'd gotten a little more tolerent of the people that still didn't accept Treckel as a real dragon, but some sort of bad omen that seemed to fortell their doom.
A soft smile came to her lips. Yes, it had been the most interesting three Rotations of her life. Her thoughts flickered briefly again to the person besides her, when would he be getting up and who was the rider of the copper that had beat Treckel at her own game?

- *The young girl entered the dran* -- Evina, 20:46:35 05/19/01 Sat
She was lucky she had caught a ride with a whiterider and was told to stand for the next Hatching, and was very excited, knowing that she would have a chance to stand at the first hatching of the legendary red dragon. Never having been in a dran, she was eager to learn all that went on here, everything she could possibly know about dragonkind, and the people who were dragonriders.*

- Treckel's flight: repost -- CER/Treckel, 15:17:33 02/28/01 Wed
One day, while the star hadn't even risen yet, Treckel awakened, irritable and hungry, more so than she had ever been, even when she had hatched she hadn't felt such intense hunger. Coremar awakened as well, this was it. She?d been warned and she knew what to do. Before her dragon was fully awake and able to get out of her corner of their dran Coremar was sprinting down the stairs and across the grass to the feeding grounds.
The Watcher announced the Flight and sent a warning for the gold dragons to get out. Three golds disappeared, including Saphirel. Coppers and browns awakened to the sound of the red as she leapt off her ledge and flying towards the feeding grounds.
She would not be allowed to gorge herself on her first flight as most wild dragons did. The crimson hide seemed to glow in the pre-dawn light.
Slightly startled riders stumbled out as their dragons began to blood their own kills. Unusual for a dragon to rise before the star was out, but Treckel was different. Her kind rose with or slightly before the star did.
Treckel's cry of defiance was no doubt heard throughout the Dran, and beyond, waking nearly all of its occupants. The loud, deep bugle of defiance reverberated against the walls as Coremar fought to convince her instinct-driven dragon to only blood the kill. The energy was needed, the more energy the more strength, the more strength the higher the endurance, the longer the flight, the better the clutch.
After blooding the first kill she swooped down upon another herad, the poor creature hadn't a change against the red. Tail and talons slashing at the creature's side to bring it down. Several more herads fell at her claws before she thrust upward with her powerful hindquarters.
They would never catch her, she was too smart, too fast, and although larger than they, much more agile. With another defiant trumpet Treckel launched into the air. Wings unfolded, air catching the sails. The tail membrane also spread, although not nessicarily helping in lifting her massive body it did help vastly with steering. She was off the ground, in the air, her element. There would be no catching of her. She couldn't be caught. She was Treckel, THE Red Dragon.
Wings beat as she climbed in the sky, followed immediately by the beating of brown and copper wings. Tilting wings and tail she made a sharp turn, all of the following males made a much wider turn, unable to match her agility.
They strained to keep up with her, stay near her; she mocked them, twisting and turning, diving, only to rise again, faster than any of them.
Coremar and Treckel
*The copper arrived, fresh from Deman. After dropping off his rider he was in the skies and after the gleaming red in the morning's pre-dawn light.*(J'lor and Pummel)
R'mar's Bufiel took flight as he stepped upon the grassy turf towards the knott of riders that had gathered. He'd only been here for a month and already he was in the midsts of the action. (R'mar and Bufiel)
*The copper took to the skies with a powerful bugle, giant wings pumping with precision as he trailed the red closely. He might match her speed if she wasn't quite as large, but he knew there was no contest as to who the more agile was. He followed her every move... he would wait this one out. Let the others get tired, less able to keep up. He coasted towards the back of the pack, feigning fatigue as S'vron joined the waiting riders on the ground* (S'vron and Daerel)
*Both the brown and The copper of the two brothers bugeled, pushing off to follow the rest. They stuck to the middle of the pack, Ballel just ahead of Galarel, while B'rri and E'liott moved swiftly to where the other riders waited. Shortly after another Brown, instantly recognisabole as T'zan's Nationel was following the group, working hard to keep up. (E'liott & Galarel, B'rri & Ballel, T'zan & Nationel)
*Waverel burst onto the scene, Q'inn arrived and joined the other riders. (Q'inn and Waverel)
Wings tucked close to her side as she rolled to one side before tilting her nose downward and rocketing downward. She pulled up mere rods from the ground, sailing upwards as the membrane stretched between her wings filled with air and pulled her upward, higher and higher, straight through the clouds that had gathered, threatening a storm within the unit. (Treckel)
*Nationel plumeted after her, T'zan began to worry the he wouldn't pull out intime. Inches from the ground Nat managed to pull out of it and soared upwards. That had cost him more time and he fell well behind the others, but he wasn't giveing up, not yet...* (T'zan & Nationel)
*He, for one, doesn't chase after the downward-swooping red, waiting for her to inevitably turn upwards again. Rejoining the chase, he pulled ahead of the young brown who had misjudged Treckel's downward plunge. Gaining even more on the magnificent red, he opted to fly just below the cloud cover rather than in it, awaiting her exit. He wasn't about to be lost in the wispy greyness.*(Daerel)
*She climbed up yet again, bursting ou above the cloud cover, causing the moisture-laden whisps of sky to swirl about her crinsom wings as the downbeated once more to take her up and over the clouds. The sudden light of the star sheered the sky above the clouds.* (Treckel)
*He noticed the shifting in the clouds and realized what the red had done. Not missing a beat of the almost rhythmic downbeat of his copper wings, he flickered out and reappeared above the clouds, edging further along in the pack, but not enough for the top dragons to think anything of him... yet*(Daerel)
Bufiel found himself towards the head of the pack, though someof his initial energy was waning into a steady beat. (Bufiel)
*Both Galaryth and Ballel were at the start of the pack, haveing spent years flying strieght they had powerful muscles. Both pulled up easily above the clouds after the red, soaring upwards.* (B'rri & Ballel, E'liott & Galarel)
*Nat began to pull back the lost ground, inch by inch (Or whatevr mesurement) He was up with the back markers by the time he broke the couds.* (Nationel)
*Pummel came up through the clouds, bugling as he turned after the red, though not in the front of the pack he held a nice position amidsts the fore-runners.(Pummel)
Waverel pulled past Bufiel and matched the pace of the leading coppers, though he was a length or two behind them. (Waverel)
*Undetected, the copper moved below the pack, still shrouded by cloud cover. Suddenly, there he was among the middle of the pack, moving steadily forward to pose a threat to the foremost pursuers*(Daerel)
Bufiel dropped out, as did the vetran Pummel, the flight was lasting too long for their taste and they were near exauhsted, glidly back dejectedly back to the Dran. Although they weren't the first ones to drop the definately wouldn't be the last either.(Pummel and Bufiel)
She pushed forward, faster and harder. Wings beating about the thin air as they pushed her bulk forward. A sudden swerve sent her through a billowing cloud formation, causing a slight explosion of white moisture-laden whisps.(Treckel)
*Pulling ever closer Galarel followed through the cloud, Ballel not far behind him. For a brown Ballel could hold his own, despite begining to tire. Laging slightly behind, although now up with the back markers, Nationel followed. Suddenly a new copper burst into the air, and, after depositing his rider, Joined the Foire. It was Brakiel from Terren Darn.*(Brakiel, Ballel, Galarel & Nationel)
*Daerel hung back, letting one or two of the other competitors pass him to make it look as though he was tireing, although he was just beginning to feel the raw energy that coursed through his veins*(Daerel)
Her head turned for a moment to take a glimps at those still trailing. She was still full of energy, not about to tire. She took a bay turn to the right, light channeled though the translucent membrane, casting a red tint upon the graying clouds.(Treckel)
*Daerel was quite an impressive sight, gleaming fresh copper awash in the soft red light that filtered through the magnificent red's wings. Though instinct told him to go faster, to fly harder, his cunning plan kept him back, holding the power that threatened to burst forth*(Daerel)

- *Taking some of the attention away from Treckel's flight...* -- Trelena and Zwenel, 10:17:56 04/21/01 Sat
*Trelena gazed up at the skies, clear green eyes unfocused in thought. Myriads of ambitious coppers pursued the gleaming red Treckel, and she couldn't help but wonder what would happen when her own Zwenel rose... and that day wasn't too far off. She breifly touched minds with the dragon, and smiled to herself. She was still in peaceful sleep, but she knew that wouldn't be for long, she would be aroused shortly and would demand an oiling, then dart off to the feeding grounds for a snack. Trelena was slightly worried, she had no idea what to expect... or whose dragon would try for the catch. She herself had no preference, knowing noone at the dran with the exception of Coremar, M'kar, the dran leaders (though not personally), and (unfortunately) the Dranlingmaster, B'rri.
Her eyes and thoughts were averted by the omnious storm ahead, and she hoped the flight ended before it came upon the dran itself. For now, she would wait, and watch...*
