3)" Modify the training/certification
procedure."
Let me guess. Since the principle aim of
management is to eliminate jobs,
management wants to remove the
alternates from their full time
positions. We are the only plant I have
ever heard of that has alternates
functioning full time. This situation
evolved out of the
certification/training deal. Alternates
were supposed to accompany supes when
they conducted certifications. Since
supes never have time to do the certs
and don't really care the Alternates
end up functioning all the time. Cool.
That's four jobs we have that no one
else I know has. But if management
refuses to permit this sweet deal the
International could not support it as
nowhere in the National Contract is
there a provision to allow it. Hey, I'd
just as soon keep the Alternates
functioning full time, but I wouldn't
give up something else for it, because
management could renege on the deal at
any time because it violates the
National agreement. In fact, one might
even say it is suspect. Why does
management allow four alternates to
function when the committeeperson is
already functioning?
Training/certification? I can't remember
the last time I was certified, but
