Any person(s) that owns a tax exempt in a municipality and/or whose occupational compensation, to include the taxes expensed, is carried by the tax roll is a conflict of interest and should be a disqualifier from maintaining a seat in government at any level. Yes, this would eliminate at least half the government, so be it. Spare me the usual rebuttal "but there has been no conflict of interst committed". The concept of 'conflict of interest' is a pre-emption to human nature. If any politico pimps otherwise, they are full of themselves and should be a red flag in and of itself to the listeners. Further, I fail to see how "knowing policy" is a qualifier in the present chameleon like 'rule' based social political environment of 'mandates' juxtaposed on 'social justices'. "Knowing policy" has worth if it manifest as a skillset, which can be a double-edged sword depending on who wields it. To your other points... -Public safety is directly correlated to a populace's capacity to curtail its human trafficking. -Roads and sidewalks replacement in this municipality, in contrast to most others, is currently working along at a practical capacity, noting that infrastructure "replacement" is necessary because "maintenance" has been long neglected despite taxation. Sidewalk maintenance responsibility is location dependent. -Business and property owner taxation is a by-product of the two previous points. Limit the taxation by limiting government spending to maintaining the carrying costs of a population that does not exceed its capacity to do so without an over reliance on external subsidies or deficit spending which creates the social political crux of a quid quo pro with 'State' "policy".
