Insightful, and spot on. But sadly this charade will continue, as the citizens have no backbone to contest. Maybe that's a little harsh, but that seems to be the case. Looking at the surrounding communities, the City of Newburgh NY
by far has some of the worst press concerning government, outside of the Federal Government! Cloak and dagger department changes, title changes without clear explanation, and seemingly made up positions, like the feed originator alluded to, the "human wall" the city has in place to insulate it from the public in which it serves. How much money is spent on legal fees from it's use of an outside law firm, it uses for city business, when we supposedly have corporate counsel! How do we get that number? I'm quite sure it's a lot, foiling gets nowhere! There's no transparency, just a murky water of slides of infrastructure accomplishments, and press releases of political grandstanding of trips to Washington DC. As long as the council is happy with their chosen manager, to hell with the citizens! That is how this city is run, on the opinions of a community blind few, sad, and deplorable. No amount of complaining, advocacy, or common sense will bring change. A true outside independent audit of our city government needs to be done in order to bring about true change. Fat chance, and wishful thinking on that! Sucks working here, and living here, can't even speak up in public due to retribution from departments in which you work, and the city manager! Can't speak up at council meetings without being yelled at by the bully Mayor. Department heads have to go through the Czar to release pertinent information regarding public safety, an atmosphere of professional fear has been seeded, and has brought forth what we see today. False accomplishments, brought about by budget slashings of essential workers, padded with lies of the reasons for said reductions. As I write this, it may or may not fall on receptive ears, but at least I said it, and I feel better. Have a wonderful day.
