No, I get that but why are we here during the day?
DARREN
Beats me I figured nobody would look for us here…you know, for cutting class
JAMIE

So aside from like vampires and whatever Ryan is…oh and Dragon people and ghosts – what other kinds of demon’s are there? Is there such a thing as Medusa’s?
DARREN
Medusa – singular being and no I don’t think so. What’s with the inquisitive version of you?
JAMIE
Just curious – I mean how do I tell a demon from a guy in bad drag?
CUT TO.
INT – COLLEGE BASEMENT – DAY
Four warrior demons are gathered in the basement with copies of Darren’s timetable in front of them

Jamie is staring at the wall in silence as the teacher drones on. The bell finally rings and she’s out of the door before the sound has registered in most people’s ears
She bumps into Tanya in the door way
JAMIE
Hey
TANYA
Hey Jamie
JAMIE
I don’t suppose there’s any chance that you have a free period?
TANYA
Double
JAMIE
Thank god!
TANYA
Darren busy?
JAMIE
He’s sleeping! How rude!
TANYA
It’s 2 O’Clock
JAMIE
Busy night
TANYA
Oh yeah?
JAMIE
Gross no! Not ever, ever, ever in a million thousand years never ever
Tanya and Jamie come out of the building and sit on the benches on the quad as Jamie rifles through her bag for a drink
JAMIE
No we’re not like that at all
TANYA
You sure about that?
JAMIE
I think I’d notice
TANYA
Does he know it?
JAMIE
Sure he does! Why wouldn’t he?
TANYA
Because everyone thinks the two of you are together
JAMIE
Why would anyone think that?
TANYA
Because you spend twenty four hours a day together
JAMIE
He’s not with me now
TANYA
Because he’s asleep! That’s the only reason…
Darren comes walking over, half awake
TANYA
Would you look at that?
JAMIE
Shut up
Darren plods himself down next to Jamie and lays his head on her shoulder as if he’s sleeping
TANYA

Jamie kicks Tanya under the table
TANYA
I just remembered – I have to go and…do stuff
(grins)

INT – JACKS HOUSE – DAY
Jack is slipping on his shirt as he walks through the living room. His father is drunk on the chair
JACK
I won’t be late
His Dad doesn’t say anything until he gets to the door
DAD
Take tenner out of my pocket
Jack smiles
DAD
Get me some tin’s on the way home
His smile drops as he shakes his head and walks out of the door
END OF PART ONE
INT – SHOPPING CENTRE – DAY
Thalia is sat in the café as Ryan edges up to her quietly
RYAN
Hi
THALIA
For someone who never want’s to see me again you were real quick to call me back up. Someone’s life in danger?
RYAN
I wanted to apologise
THALIA
I don’t want to hear it
RYAN
I understand that but…
THALIA
I don’t wanna hear it because it’s not important. This – all of the not talking and everything, it’s all stuff from our past. We’re both twenty years old, we don’t need to talk about then.
RYAN
I…I’m sorry I can’t do this
Ryan stands straight back up
THALIA
Do what?
RYAN
Sorry…
Ryan runs off and leaves her standing alone
CUT TO.
INT – CASEYS ROOM – DAY
Casey is at her desk with a small bag of bones – the room is in darkness as she scatters sand over a chalk drawing – the shadow of a man.
CASEY
Powers heal and dry like sand, drain out by my command – deny thy fate, refuse thy will – make Darren Summers ripe for the kill.
Casey smiles before blowing out the candle.
CUT TO.
EXT – PARK – DAY
Jack and Darren are playing football as Jamie sits at the side reading a magazine
JACK
You are really off your game today
DARREN
Hey you know I’ve got skills
JACK
Nah, mate – you’re rubbish
Jack moves around Darren and shoots into the goal
JACK
Three – nil to Jack the lad
JAMIE
Jack the lad?
JACK
Or something cooler
JAMIE
I was gonna say so
(wraps up magazine)
So, Daz – what’s the deal – you’re usually “soccer” extraordinairre
DARREN
Beats me, lack of sleep maybe?
JACK
You just can’t defeat the mighty Jack
JAMIE
Yeah, I’d say lack of sleep
END OF PART ONE
INT – DARRENS HOUSE – DAY
Darren walks in and drops his bag down and slump into the chair
ANNE
Good day sweetie?
DARREN
Meh.
ANNE
Is that meh as in “Yes Mom I hope yours was equally as splendid” or “Go away”
(long pause of silence)
The second one then
DARREN
Jack beat me at soccer
ANNE
That’s what this is about?
DARREN
Jack sucks at Soccer – I mean really sucks. Jamie won’t even pick up a ball off the grass and she’s better than him
ANNE
Sweetie, I know you can’t handle losing – which you get from your Father because I’m far too gracious, but – you have to let it go
DARREN
You don’t know what it’s like to be a teenager
ANNE
Right because I was born a fully grown woman. I had no life before you arrived
DARREN
You know what I mean – it’s all competition and I feel crappy and leave me alone
Darren stomps off up to his room as his Mother shakes her head. She picks up his bag – a small crossbow falls out
CUT TO.
INT – DARRENS ROOM – DAY
Darren is listening to heavy rock as his Mother walks in
ANNE
Turn it off
He ignores her – not noticing until she flicks it off at the mains
DARREN
Uh…Hello – sixteen year old guy, there’s a reason the dog sleeps outside the door!
ANNE
Yeah I really want to ask you something…
DARREN
What?
ANNE
What the hell is this?
Anne reveals the weapon to Darren, his face drops immediately
CUT TO.
INT – THALIA’S CAR – DAY
Thalia is stuck at traffic lights as she begins to feel a little faint. She holds her head as her vision becomes a little hazy – out of nowhere, the rain begins to tumble out of the sky like a monsoon before suddenly stopping.
She starts to drive off again, still not feeling too good
CUT TO.
INT – RYANS CAR – NIGHT
Jamie, Jack and Ryan are parked at the back end of a large park field.
RYAN
Why am I here?
JAMIE
Because Darren is about twelve different kinds of never allowed out again
RYAN
What did he do?
JAMIE
His Mum found weapons in his bag
RYAN
What kinds of weapons?
JAMIE
The kind you have in the back of your car
RYAN
Oh.
(beat)
I still don’t see why I have to come
JACK
You have super powers
JAMIE
Right and we don’t
RYAN
Okay but if nobody gets attacked within the next ten minutes then I’m off
JACK
It’s underage drinkers – of course they’re going to get attacked
JAMIE
See look – there’s a vampire now
RYAN
Yet you seem so calm
JAMIE
Go and kill it!
Jamie pushes Ryan and knocks the lights – it shocks the vampire enough for the kids to run off.
RYAN
Nice move
JAMIE
What can I say – I’m special
They climb out of the car and stand tall and proud (this would be the sort of power shot you’d see in the opening credits for ‘Angel’)
JACK
Lookin’ a bit lonely there mate
VAMPIRE
Lookin’ a bit blind there mate
Another six vampires climb out from the bushes behind him.
JAMIE
Crap
RYAN
Next time you have an Idea remind me that you’re a complete idiot
JAMIE
Noted
RYAN
Okay back in the car
JAMIE
We can’t just leave them
RYAN
I know!
They all climb back in the car as Ryan revs his engine and slams his foot down –
RYAN
Seatbelts
Ryan skids forward and slams two of the vamps onto the bonnet, skidding around the field with them on
JACK
You’re insane!
RYAN
No I’m not.
He slams the breaks on as they go flying off – one of which hits right on the branch of a tree
RYAN
I’m just a boy racer
He reverses over the other vamp and flashes his lights up at the rest. All of which sprint in fear
JACK
Wow. I’m impressed
JAMIE
I’m not. Didn’t they just run down the same road as those kids
Ryan sighs before turning the car round and heading out of the park
CUT TO.
INT – COLLEGE – DAY
Darren is staring into space before coming back down to earth he spots that Casey is staring at him
DARREN
(paranoid)
What?
CASEY
Class ended twenty minutes ago
DARREN
So why are you still here?
CASEY
I’m not. I’m just a figment of your imagination
DARREN
It’s too early for sarcasm
CASEY
It’s never too early for sarcasm. Besides it’s almost two thirty
DARREN
Oh. You never answered what you were doing here
CASEY
I left my pen
Darren gets out his chair and sloth’s towards the door leaving Casey tucking a tiny lock of his hair into her pocket.
CUT TO.
EXT – HIGHSTREET – NIGHT
Darren is walking through the street after college – it’s already dark. The wind’s heavily blowing.
Darren slows down, listening to the sound of pending foot steps
DARREN
I’m beyond not in the mood for this today
Darren turns round to see an extremely built man with purple skin and a black cape.
DARREN
But I suppose a little kill goes along way
Darren smacks the man, he doesn’t move. He swings again and the man grabs his fist – he twists it round and slams Darren into the wall. He falls to the floor.
The man steps over to him and pulls his jacket off. Darren can’t move as the demon walks away.
CUT TO.
EXT – COLLEGE – DAY
Jack runs up to Casey as she rolls into college.
JACK
Have you seen Darren?
CASEY
I would think he’s wherever Jamie is
JACK
She’s got no lectures today. He’s late.
CASEY
I’m not his Mum. Just call him
Clearly she’s not interested.
JACK
Sorry. Oh, how’s everything at home – you know, with your…
CASEY
It’s fine
(beat)
Anything else?
JACK
No, sorry I…sorry
CASEY
Bye.
Casey continues into the building as Jack looks out for Darren. He’s limping up the path
JACK
What happened to you?
DARREN
Big ass demon kicked the crap out of me
JACK
You kicked it back right
Long silence
JACK
Right?
DARREN
I’ve got lessons
