INT – JAMIES KITCHEN – DAY
Jamie is spreading butter onto her toast as she looks over to the door way where Ryan has just tumbled down the stairs and landed
JAMIE

RYAN
I wouldn’t
JAMIE
How come you’re here?
RYAN
Cover story is burst pipe at the University, truth is the science teacher ate a student whole and we’re “temporarily suspended”
JAMIE
Gross
(takes a bite)
So – you’re clumsy lately. What’s that about?
RYAN
Maybe your Dumb blonde is rubbing off on me
JAMIE
I’m not a blonde
RYAN
Then maybe your dumb is rubbing off on me
JAMIE
Hmm, I think my “get up at two in the afternoon” laziness is rubbing off on Darren – he’s always kinda sloth lately
RYAN
Weird.
Ryan grabs his keys off the side table
JAMIE
Where are you going?
RYAN
Oh, um – Thalia crashed her cover the other day. She was driving into Darlington and it was like crazy rain storm so she needs a rise
JAMIE

RYAN

JAMIE

RYAN
I’m nineteen years old – don’t mother me Jay
JAMIE
Okay but – you know you’re just gonna end up all tied up with her
CUT TO.
EXT – THALIAS HOUSE – DAY
Ryan is knocking at the door – by the looks of things he’s been there a while. He looks up at the window before walking to the back. The window is smashed.
RYAN
Thalia?
He climbs in and grabs a vase from the table
RYAN
Hello?
The door to her room is ajar – he cautiously steps in.
Everything goes black.
INT - ???????? – DAY
Ryan is tied up next to Thalia as he comes round – they’re in a dark, damp room as they look around. The hooded men are with them as is Casey who shakes her head when Ryan goes to talk
RYAN
I hate when Jamie’s right
CUT TO.
INT – DARRENS HOUSE – DAY
JAMIE
But…
ANNE
I mean, are you doing this history project? It seems a little dangerous
JAMIE
It does…but it’s made of rubber
ANNE
It didn’t feel like rubber
JAMIE

ANNE
I’ve felt all kinds
JAMIE
Okay we just reached a new zone of discomfort – is Darren upstairs or not?
ANNE
He should be – he allowed to leave the house again never, so unless he climbed out of the window…then he’s there
Jamie looks behind Anne and sees Darren’s legs dangling past the window
JAMIE
Erm…yeah I’ll… I have to go
ANNE

Jamie dashes out of the door but Darren is nowhere to be seen – however, the mud in the garden has dragging marks in it.
CUT TO.
INT – JACKS BATHROOM – DAY
Jack is stepping out of the shower as Jamie comes crashing through the door. He quickly wraps the towel in front of him
JACK
Err hello
JAMIE
If you minded me being here you’d have locked the door
JACK
Sorry my psychic powers failed to see you coming
JAMIE
Not the time. Get dressed
JACK
I will be!
JAMIE
Now. Come on, come on get moving!

EXT – DARRENS GARDEN – DAY
JACK
Why are we here?
JAMIE

JACK
Wow. Darren owns mud – I’m so jealous
JAMIE
It’s drag marks

JAMIE
Darren was falling out of his window and then he dissapeared like he was dragged away…I think he got abducted
JACK
Demons?
JAMIE
No. Mad elves
JACK
Really?…Oh.
JAMIE
Not only that but Ryan – also a Guardian, is all… you know clumbsy and I bet that…
JACK

JAMIE
Ryan said the weather went crazy and Thalia controls it and she crashed her car and…
JACK
Is she okay?
JAMIE
Who cares? What I’m saying is…it’s the guardians it’s happening too…
JACK

JAMIE

Well I couldn’t remember the name of the murder she wrote lady

INT – ROOM – DAY
DARREN
Why is she here?
Darren looks at Casey – the demons look around but don’t say anything
DARREN
What are you guys doing here? Is that my shirt he’s burning!?
THALIA
Hey you think you’re gonna be shutting up anytime soon? We’re kinda being held hostage here!
DARREN
Technically it’s not a hostage situation because nobody’s being asked for ransom – by the look of all those sharp thing, that spell book and our hair and clothes – I’d say that we pretty much are being sacrificed.
RYAN
Which is a lot better
DARREN
It won’t work on her
(points to Thalia)
Not with fake hair
THALIA
My hair is NOT fake
DARREN
Oh…
THALIA
What is that girl doing? Can they even see her?
Casey rolls her head back like “duh”
RYAN
I don’t think that they can
CUT TO.
INT – COLLEGE – DAY
Jamie and Jack are storming down the corridor towards the lesson Darren is supposed to be in – surprise to them, he’s not there
JAMIE
He is such a delinquent!
JACK
I thought he’d been kidnapped
JAMIE
Probably
JACK
Then…
JAMIE
Then he’s something else stupid that’s more appropriate to the situation! Come on!
JACK
Where are we going?
JAMIE
I don’t know!
JACK
Then will you please stop for a minute and think?!
Jamie freezes and taps her finger against a door as Jack pulls his phone out of his pocket
JACK
His phone is NEVER off
Jamie rolls her eyes as Jack punches in the number
JACK
It’s ringing
JAMIE
I know, I can hear it…
Jamie stops tapping and puts her ear to the door
JAMIE
What’s in there?
JACK
Ramp to the basement
JAMIE
Pull you phone away from your ear
Jack and Jamie look at each other as the realise the sound is coming from inside the basement.
Jack and Jamie – discreet as they both are not, crash into the basement – the demons all turn to them immediately
JAMIE
Oh, this isn’t maths? Well, I guess we’ll be leaving
DEMON
Kill them.
JACK
I don’t think we need to take things that far…
Casey begins mumbling as tiny, tiny light – the size of a firefly, forms in front of the demons
DEMON
There’s someone else in here
RYAN
They can’t see her! She’s helping!
THALIA
She’s not their demon master lord thingy?
DARREN
Demon master lord thingy?
THALIA
Hey I hardly think grammar is the issue here
The light explodes in the demons faces, startling them so that Jack and Jamie can free the others. Jamie unties them as Jack smashes the pot with their burning hair and clothes in it.
The others buck as their powers come back to them. They stand confidently as Jamie wheels Casey out via the ramp
DARREN
I’m feeling extremely unlazy.
One of the demons looks up at him to be greeted straight away by his foot – it falls back into jack and gets thrown straight towards Thalia who waves at a candle and sets him on fire.
CUT TO.
INT – COLLEGE – DAY
JAMIE
How did you know what was…
CASEY
Lucky guess.
Casey goes off leaving Jamie a little startled as one of the demons comes running out on fire. She jumps back and kicks a bin towards it, tripping it up – it combusts as it hits the floor.
END OF PART THREE
INT – BASEMENT – DAY
Darren forces a candlestick through a demon’s chest – it explodes into a thick paste like substance.
THALIA
That’s disgusting.
DARREN
Yeah, guess people know now – expect a lot more people, demons, other things trying to kill you over the next forever
RYAN
Really?
DARREN
Oh yeah. Wanna eat?
RYAN
Oh yeah.
CUT TO.
INT – COLLEGE – NEXT DAY
Darren, Jack, Jamie, Ryan and Thalia are all sat in the courtyard eating lunch
JAMIE
You don’t go here.
RYAN
You know you love having me around
JAMIE
Like I love being on my period
JACK
Eww!
RYAN
Okay that’s my cue to go
THALIA
Me too
DARREN
Leaving together hey
Thalia smiles at Ryan who flashes a brief smile before nodding at her
RYAN
See you all later
He walks over to his car. Alone.
Thalia’s smile fades a little before she walks away in the opposite direction.
JAMIE
Blah. Okay the real news now. Survey says Casey is…
a) a witch, b) a bitch, c) a monster
DARREN
Why don’t you ask her your self?
Casey is sat alone by a table, sketching a tree – Darren walks over to her
DARREN
I can’t be completely sure but I think I know what you are
CASEY
I’m just a girl
DARREN
Right.
CASEY
I owed you one, can we leave it that?
DARREN
You know what I am – I also think you know I’ll find out who or what you are soon enough Casey.
(pause)
I’m not your enemy. I think we’ve established that already.
CASEY
You done?
DARREN
No. You cut my hair – that pissed me off, but it was for a protection spell so I can let it go.
Darren starts to walk away before turning back
DARREN
You can trust us Casey.
END.
