EXT. FIELD – NIGHT.
DARREN is stood at the centre of a field in the middle of the day. The sun is bright, shining down on him as he stares at nothing. He sees a hunched woman crawling through the long grass. She vanishes everytime he opens his mouth to speak.
Darren looks up at the sun – red blotches are appearing all over it as cloud form around it. When he puts his head back down, it’s night and he’s stood up to his ankles in blood.
DARREN
This…
A hand springs out of the ground and grabs him by the ankle
INT. DARRENS ROOM. – NIGHT.
Darren springs up in his bed, sweat glimmering over the surface of his skin.
He catches his breath before looking at his alarm clock and falling back in his bed – staring at the ceiling, clearly disturbed.
MIX TO.
SHOT OF SUNRISE.
MIX TO.
Student’s are buzzing around the college – making their way to lessons.
INT. COLLEGE. – DAY
Darren is staring at a poster on the notice board, not really noticing anything around him. Just staring.
Casey appears next to him and stares up at him
CASEY
What are you looking for?
DARREN
Nothing.
Darren starts to walk away and Casey follows in her chair.
CASEY
Really – you weren’t thinking about a dream you might’ve had last night then?
Darren freezes in his tracks and takes a deep breath.
DARREN
I don’t know what you’re talking about.
CASEY
Big field. Big spillage of blood.
Darren turns and looks at Casey suspiciously
CASEY
You want to miss class?

EXT. FIELD. – DAY
Darren stands exactly where he was in his dream and stares in the exact same manner. Only this time – Casey is at his side.
DARREN
It felt so real
CASEY
Where was the blood?
DARREN
Everywhere.
Darren paces forward – to the centre of the field. Slowly but cautiously. He looks down at his feet to see that he’s stood in a puddle of blood.
CASEY
What’s wrong?
DARREN
Blood.
CASEY
A lot?
Darren ignores her and walks further into the field – he covers his mouth in horror, about to throw up as he comes to an opening – a hole in the ground, filled to the brim with blood. Animals and plants have boiled and rotted – floating at the top of it.
DARREN
We need to get out of here.
CUT TO.
INT – JACKS BEDROOM – DAY.
JAMIE
So I said to her that if she really wanted it that badly then she should help me. Then she reminded me that when she tried to help me I didn’t need it.
Jack is totally wrapped up in everything that Jamie has to say.
JAMIE
So eventually I got Ryan to help me, who FYI is in a really bad mood today so avoid as if he were a window saleman.
JACK
Really?
JAMIE
Totally. It’s the anniversary today
JACK
Anniversary of what?
JAMIE
The incident
JACK
What incident?
JAMIE
The incident that explains why he and Thalia have this yo-yo thing going on and also why he has no emotions.
JACK
He has no emotions?
JAMIE
Well, okay he does but he can only show them by his eye colour
JACK
What’s purple?
JAMIE
Bored. Why?
JACK
No reason.
Jack shifts akwardly, strangely ending up closer to Jamie.
JAMIE
You spoken to Darren today? He and Casey said they were going to be here like forever ago…
JACK
Five minutes ago
JAMIE
Blah. I need to kill time
JACK
I can think of a way
Jack leans in to Jamie just as Darren springs through the door. Jamie leaps out of the way and Jack moves back
DARREN
Can you guys come downstairs?
CUT TO.
EXT – GARDEN – DAY
Jamie is sat on the bench as Jack stands quietly by the wall. Darren is pacing in front of them
JAMIE
When you like
JACK
Mate, what’s going on?
DARREN
Did either of you guys have weird dreams last night?
JACK
Oh, I did!
DARREN
What happened?
JACK
There was this girl…we’ll call her Mandy – she was all…
DARREN
Okay never mind
JACK
What?
DARREN
I had this dream – a weird dream about blood in a field and – it was weird, there was things crawling around and stuff, then this morning Casey said she had the same dream.
JAMIE
Coincidence?
DARREN
We went to the field in my dream and it happened – everything that was in my dream has happened there.
JACK
You’re psychic?
DARREN
No. Dawn said it’s a thing she had like the slayers got, prophetic dreams or something.
JAMIE
Pathetic dreams?
DARREN
Prophetic. It means like…visions sort of, I don’t know but Casey had them too.
JACK
Do you think she’s…
DARREN
Way ahead of you
(to Jamie)
Did Ryan say anything about a dream?
JAMIE
He did seem disturbed earlier but I figured it was because of Thalia and the whole tension filled not so happy anniversary.
DARREN
Could you ask him
JAMIE
Well actually
(off look)
Sure.
Jamie walks into the house to use the phone.
JACK
(concerned)
What’s going on?
DARREN
(More concerned)
I don’t know. Something big.
END OF PART ONE
EXT – RYANS/JAMIES HOUSE – DAY
Ryan walks into the house and closes the door, seconds later, Thalia pulls up and looks towards it.
INT – RYANS HOUSE – DAY
Ryan places his keys on the counter as his phone begins to ring.
RYAN
Hello?
(long pause)
Why are you calling me today of all days?
(longer pause)
You couldn’t have just let it go by and I don’t know, waited until it was out of my mind.
Ryan walks upstairs to his room.
RYAN
Thalia – seriously this is the…I know that but…
(sigh)
Bye.
EXT – RYANS HOUSE – DAY
Thalia presses the cancel button and stares up at the window.
She takes a deep breath before stepping out of the car.
INT – RYANS HOUSE – DAY
Ryan is sat on the edge of his bed, his eyes are a deep blue. He’s flicking through a photo album – freezing at a picture of himself, Thalia and another male friend.
FLASH
INT – PARTY – NIGHT
Thalia and Ryan move away with their friend after the flash is finished on the photo.
RYAN
I’m gonna go get a drink, you guys want?
THALIA
I think I’m gonna throw up if I have anymore. Infact, the bathroom is calling me.
RYAN
Okay, well – you go be sick and… you don’t want me to come with do you?
ALEX
It’s okay I’ll take care of her
THALIA
I don’t need guidance.
RYAN
You sure?
THALIA
I can puke myself
RYAN
Okay
(kisses her)
See you soon k?
THALIA
K
Ryan walks off as Thalia and Alex stand awkwardly in silence
CUT TO.
INT – PARTY – NIGHT
An extremely drunk Ryan is falling about along the upstairs hall as he holds his mouth
RYAN
Okay, going to hurl
He opens the nearest door to him and walks in
RYAN
Sorry
Ryan freezes as he sees two people in bed.
Thalia jumps out of bed, wrapping the cover around her.
THALIA
Ryan…
RYAN
What’s going on?
THALIA
It’s not what you think?
RYAN
You’re…you and him…
Ryan’s eyes begin to shade over bright yellow, no whites, no pupils.
THALIA
Alex run
ALEX
What?
THALIA
Go. NOW!
Alex goes to move as Ryan grows in height and muscle – his skin takes a harder form with slashes of blue.
THALIA
GO!!
Alex tries to go for the door and Thalia goes for Ryan – he smacks her across the room and grabs Alex by the throat.
THALIA
Alex!
Ryan lifts Alex and squeezes his neck before tossing him out of the window – shattering it as Alex falls to the ground.
Thalia looks at Ryan in fear – Ryan/Demon leaps out of the window – Thalia runs and looks out of it. Ryan/Demon is sprinting off into the night.
FLASH
INT – RYANS ROOM – DAY
Ryan closes the album and puts it on the side.
He lies back on his bed and stares at the ceiling. As he blinks his stereo comes in – country music. As he blinks again, the window flings open and the album spins out.
EXT – RYANS HOUSE – DAY
Thalia goes to knock but hesitates, as she walks away and goes to walk back to the door the photo album falls to her feet.
It falls open on the page with Alex, Ryan and Thalia, mud has splashed across Thalia’s face.
She looks at it before closing it and wrapping her arms around it as she walks slowly to her car.
CUT TO.
EXT – FIELD – NIGHT
Jamie and Jack pop their heads round a tree, they’re dressed head to toe in black.
JACK
What’s with the black again?
JAMIE
We’re being inconspicuous
JACK
Do you even know what that means?
JAMIE
Do I sound like I do?
JACK
Kind of
JAMIE
The stop complaining
They step out from behind the tree and walks cautiously towards the place the pit was supposed to have been.
JAMIE
You know, I can’t believe we, the non-powered people, have to do this
JACK
Darren’s patrolling
JAMIE
We could do that!
JACK
Sure and die!
JAMIE
Like we’re not gonna die here.
JACK
I don’t think so.
Jamie looks at Jack confused, before looking down at the floor where he’s looking.
JAMIE
Wow. Big…concrete circle.
JACK
Filled it in.
Jack leans down and touches it.
JACK
Recently
(standing)
It’s wet.
JAMIE
Well that’s something right?
JACK
Not sure.
Jack starts to walk away before stopping and turning back to Jamie
JACK
Listen about earlier I…
(O.S) OFFICER
What are you kids doing here?
They turn around as a flash light is shone in their faces.
JACK
Walking our dog
OFFICER
Where’s the dog?
JAMIE
Crapping in the bush.
OFFICER
Go on, get out of here!
JACK
Right away sir
They walk away fast.
OFFICER
Stupid kids.
The officer walks over and shines his light on the filled in pit.
OFFICER
Strange town.
As her turns around two hands grab him by the neck – his torch falls to the ground as a snap is heard.
CUT TO.
INT – RYAN/JAMIES – NIGHT
Jamie walks through the door, pulling off her woolen hat.
RYAN
Should I ask?
JAMIE
Probably not.
RYAN
Anything I should know?
JAMIE
Depends – you had weird dreams lately?
RYAN
Blood? Field?
JAMIE
Yeah – well they’ve happened, it’s a thing.
RYAN
Oh.
JAMIE
Don’t be too concerned.
RYAN
Sorry – just got my mind on other things
JAMIE
So I see – your eyes are going all chameleon.
RYAN
I should get shades.
JAMIE
Not indoors – never a good look.
RYAN
Jay… I know we don’t always get along but, can I talk to you?
JAMIE
You are right now.
RYAN
I mean, properly.
JAMIE
Well, if it’s not gonna end up all mushy and "you’re like a real sister to me, a friend too" then sure.
RYAN
It won’t. You know what today is?
JAMIE
Sure I do, hence the not being here – I can’t resist being mean to you so I figured as you’ll be sensitive, best to not be here.
RYAN
Thalia called me today
JAMIE
What did she say?
RYAN
All the wrong things, but nothing wrong at the same time
JAMIE
Well, you want my advice?
