Men,
I have talked with the guru of the 6/15th Texas Dan Snell and have posed the same question. There is a bit of a problem. It appears that all clothing records after 1864 for the 6th Texas have been lost. There was mention that prior to the Franklin Campain new uniforms were issued, but there is no mention of what nor where they came from?
Prior records mentioned as Fred said Columbus and Atlanta Arsenal jackets. I do know according to the writing of a 6th Texas Diary the clothing was pretty well worn out during the Atlanta fighting.
The 6/15th Texas was consolidated prior to Franklin due to losses. For example Company K was combined with Company A as Company K consisted of only 11 men.
Dan Snell is compiling a roster of men who fought during the march into Tennessee and what happened to them. This should be out for research purposes.
As far as hauling ammo for our Lazyjacks. Pam and I always drive to Tennessee we always seem to be hauling stuff for other folks, Im sure we could haul a few hundred extra rounds for someone if needed.
We had a meeting with Lt Col Fred Yokabitus about Franklin last month. We discussed the ammo requirements. We felt 150 rounds would be enough. If we needed more we would rob the dead regardless of color of uniform for a resupply in the field. If we run out of them do as period men would have done, fall back.
The ammo resupply and period rations shall be carried by three period correct wagons and issued as needed to the companies.
