Subject: Can you say Camp Douglas?

I'm sure you know by now the work we have been doing with the AOP in working out our hand-to-hand combat during the Franklin battle. Now I’ll let you in on the latest of my endeavors.

Imagine this: you’re captured during this God awful engagement of fighting behind the breastworks, disarmed, and sent to the rear of the federal lines. What fait awaits you next? Will you be paroled pending your oath of allegiance to the U.S. government, or taken off to Nashville with the withdrawing federal army, eventually being sent to Camp Douglas to wait out the war (i.e. held as a prisoner with only your haversack, canteen, and knapsack until Sunday morning)? Which would you choose?

If my idea is accepted, and you draw a casualty, you just might get to choose.

Or maybe you’ll be one of the lucky survivors detailed to guard a federal prisoner during the night. Don’t take your eye of them; you know how tricky those darn Billy Yanks can be.

That’s all I’ll say for now. Cross you fingers and I’ll post more if my suggestion is approved.
