EXT – MOUNTAIN CABIN – NIGHT
A young girl is tossed against the side of the cabin falling face flat in the snow before looking up with a grin and wiping blood from her mouth. She’s stood face to face with a werewolf.
TARYN
Nice paw’s you got there puppy
Taryn pulls out a stake from her belt and charges at the wolf. It flips her over before she gains control by grabbing it’s ears.
Taryn pulls the wolf down to the ground and stamps on it’s head before snapping the buckle of her very designer belt.
TARYN
Time to put you down
She slams the buckle into it’s chest with force – it howls out before reverting back to it’s human self
She looks at it with guilt at first before grinning and snapping her belt away from it’s chest.
She runs away at the site of car headlights.
A car pulls over next to the man. Spike and Faith step out.
FAITH
He’s not dead
SPIKE
(sniffs)
She’s not gone far
FAITH
She?
SPIKE
The girl who did this
FAITH
We need to get him to a hospital
Faith and Spike lift the guy to the car and drive off as someone steps from the shadows looking more than bewildered

WILLOW

Willow picks up the phone, yawning as she does

Sorry – I’m at the hospital
WILLOW

FAITH
Yeah I’m cool – listen we found this guy by the road, he’s hurt bad. Been stabbed with a belt buckle

I know. It was in so hard that the little catch thing was still in him – I’m thinking demon but Spike says he could smell a girl
WILLOW

FAITH

FAITH

WILLOW
More specific – there’s like four slayers there
FAITH
I don’t know – Spike just drove around

Willow pushes the button and speaks

INT – HOSPITAL – DAY
Oz, Faith and Spike are all stood in a circle looking to each other in silence

SPIKE
Right, here we are. What are you doing here?
OZ

This girl, Taryn – her parents got killed by a werewolf when she was 8. As a person he was a killer, as a wolf he’s unstoppable.
SPIKE

OZ
Since she became a slayer – she’s been killing every one of us she can find. Innocent people – victims.
SPIKE
No such thing as innocent
OZ
Maybe not. But they don’t deserve to die just because they got bit when they were in the wrong place at the wrong time
SPIKE

FAITH

INT – CABIN – DAY
SPIKE
Nice place.
OZ
Yeah.
SPIKE
You lived here long?
OZ
Three years almost. Not here much in the winter.
SPIKE
So, when was the last time you spoke to Willow?
OZ
About an hour ago.
SPIKE
You speak a lot then?
OZ
First time I spoke to her since Sunnydale.
SPIKE
Wow you have missed a lot
OZ
Everyone still around?
SPIKE
Not really. Buffy died.
Oz looks up a little startled
SPIKE
Only for a few months though. I died too and err…Tara’s dead.
OZ
Willow’s girlfriend?
SPIKE
Yeah. She’s dating a slayer now.
OZ

SPIKE

OZ

SPIKE
Yeah.
Silence.
SPIKE
So – you like wood then?
Oz glares at Spike as Spike nods while rocking on his heels. Faith comes through the door.
SPIKE
Look! Faith’s back! Hi Faith!
FAITH
(Okaaaaaaay then)

FAITH
Spoke to that slayer Maria – she had a run in with her last summer, hasn’t seen her since. Apparently she travelled down to the motel on Toronto not long ago
OZ
The one with the feral child?
Faith goes quiet
SPIKE

OZ
There’s been stories.
SPIKE
They’re true.
FAITH
Yeah – so, I’m gonna check out Emily tonight and then Willow said something about some hypnotherapy stone or something. If we can’t reason with the girl then she’s gonna send it over
SPIKE
Taking the “if’s” a bit early aren’t we?
FAITH
I’m not letting another innocent person die because someone can’t let go of what’s done.
Faith stares at them both before walking outside
OZ
Story behind that?
SPIKE
Like you wouldn’t believe.
CUT TO.
EXT – TOWN – DAY
Oz walks off into a shop as Faith and Spike stand outside smoking.
SPIKE
You okay?
FAITH
Why shouldn’t I be?
SPIKE
Brace yourself I’m about to give you a “for Buffy’s ears only” speech
FAITH
Great
SPIKE
I know that we’ve been sort of thrown together by circumstance but… there’s something about you that…
FAITH
Please do not say you’re in love with me
SPIKE
I’m not. …there’s something about you that I don’t exactly hate. You’re not a bad person and…I know that in time you’ll come to tell me whatever it is that shook you up so much back in Toronto – until that time…
FAITH

Oz comes out, breaking up the silent understanding
OZ

CUT TO.
EXT – HOSPITAL – NIGHT
A young girl, probably around the age of fourteen, is walking out of the hospital with a bandage around her wrist, her Father is at her side.
FATHER
Are you okay Molly?
MOLLY
It still hurts, I hate dogs
FATHER
That thing needs to be hunted and shot down.
MOLLY
It was so big
FATHER
I know. Come on, let’s get you home.
They continue onto their car as Taryn watches from the shadows.
CUT TO.
INT – MOLLYS HOUSE – NIGHT
Molly is staring at her ceiling as she hears a scraping against the window.
She sits up in bed, anxious, resting back on her hands as she stares at the window – she rolls her eyes at her active imagination.
Molly hears the sound again, only this time it’s much louder.
She cautiously steps out of bed and edges towards the window – pulling the curtains slowly aside, she looks out. A tree’s twigs are battering against the window, in the wind.
She sighs with relief before catching a glimpse of a man across the street, using his cell phone. It’s Spike.
CUT TO.
EXT – HOUSE – NIGHT
SPIKE
You sure this is the adress? Doesn’t seem right.
FAITH (O.S)
The hospital said she’s the only one with suspicious bitemarks that wasn’t D.O.A
SPIKE
(sigh)
Fine.
He hangs up and keeps staring at the window before freezing and sniffing the air around him. As he turns around – SMACK.
A foot in the face means a spike on the floor.
SPIKE
Bloody hell woman!
He looks up to see Taryn stood over him.
TARYN
Why are you following me?
SPIKE
Following you? No, I’m not following you I’m just…
TARYN
Don’t patronise me. It will only make me kill you slower
SPIKE
I…wanted your autograph
Taryn brings up her leg to boot him again, he grabs her ankle and twists it round, flipping her over.
Spike springs to his feet as does Taryn, both have their fists up, ready for battle
TARYN
Vampire
SPIKE
Wrong again love, just playing the hero
Spike smacks his fist into her face. She spins round and kicks him in the chin – an all out hell-loose fight kicks off.
Molly watches the entire thing from her window.
TARYN
Play it somewhere else. This is my turf
SPIKE
I think not pet, you see
(smacks her down)
A little birdy told me you’ve been getting some free fur jackets
Taryn’s face drops
TARYN
You’re one of them
SPIKE
A werewolf?
TARYN
A white hat. Like Oz!
Spike stops and looks a little confused
SPIKE
You know Oz?
TARYN
Everyone does. He’s been helping their kind for years
SPIKE
Their kind is human
(pause)
Just got some hair issues is all
TARYN
You don’t know what these beasts do to people
SPIKE
I’m thinking mame, eat – generally tear them apart.
TARYN
Yet you’re fighting for them
SPIKE
Then I’m thinking they wake up the next day and lock themselves away from the world because they can’t stand to see any trouble they might’ve caused the night before.
TARYN
It serves them right.
SPIKE
For being in the wrong place at the wrong time?
(beat)
Like your parents.
Taryn looks up with anger.
TARYN
Don’t dare bring them up
SPIKE
Did they deserve to die?
TARYN
Never.
SPIKE
They just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time… like Oz, like a lot of people who become something else.
TARYN
You think this is gonna work? You think some wannabe hero is gonna come around and talk me out of what I know, what I do?
(laughs)
Think again. Get over yourself.
Taryn starts to walk away, waving Spike off as she does.
TARYN
(calling back)
if I see her again, I’ll kill her – that is, if you don’t stop me first.
Taryn walks off, still laughing.
