NATURE ZOOM PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION AND EXHIBITION

The South West Community Development Council will be organizing a Nature Zoom Photography Competition and Exhibition from March 2004. The competition focuses on capturing beautiful nature shots in the South West district. We would like to invite you to participate in this competition. There are many attractive prizes to be won. The closing date for submission is 5 April 2004.

Winning entries will be showcased at the Nature Zoom Exhibition at the Harbourfront Centre atrium from 29 May 2004 - 3 June 2004. The opening celebrations and prize-giving for winners will take place as follows:

COMMONWEALTH PHOTOGRAPHIC AWARDS 2004


The Commonwealth Photographic Awards are organised by the Commonwealth Press Union in collaboration with the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association and supported by the National Youth Achievement Award Council in Singapore.



The competition is open to all Commonwealth residents, regardless of their profession. Each year there is a different theme and the entrants are asked to submit a photograph and a short caption explaining why they think their photos are significant.



The theme for the 2004 Commonwealth Photographic Awards is “Youth.”



The first prize is £2000, with cash prizes for regional winners.



A film about the winning images and the Awards will be commissioned and made available for broadcast in most Commonwealth member-countries.



The awards are sponsored by the Commonwealth Foundation, with the support of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation and the Royal Commonwealth Society.



The NYAA Council would like to invite all its Operating Authorities to participate in this international competition by submitting photographs taken by their students or members.



The NYAA Council will assist in collecting all entries and forwarding them to the Commonwealth Press Union in London, United Kingdom, by Monday, 24 May 2004.



Attached are the entry form and the criteria for the competition for your retention.

Hi all,

Haven't left a message in a long long time. Terribly sorry. Yeap, looks like we are all moving along. Yasmine, really sorry to hear about your dad. I truly hope u will continue to have faith as you and your family take each step together. Knowing that you have now been through the toughest period, your next step would be easier. Stay hopeful and faithful. Things will pick up in no time.

As fr me, I'm good. I'm on a 'break' in San Francisco. A needed break. Been worn out physically and mentally but I'm good. The west coast is beautiful but i actually MISS NY. HAHa..not to say, of course Singapore too. I'll be back end of this year. Hopefully we can all meet up then!!!

Hi all... here's departing from the sombre mood a little (yas, hope life is treating you better these days).
I'm doing art direction for the musical, Mere Models. this is a performance put up by each batch of 4th year law students. This yr, our chosen charity is the Singapore Cancer Society.
The show will go on.3 times! 5th Sept, 7.30 pm. 6th Sept, 2.30 and 7.30 pm. The show on the 5th is the gala opening, SR Nathan will be the GoH. $15, free seating.
I thin it'll be a fun show to watch, much singing (of original songs ranging from techno to jazzy) and dancing and jokes. Based on the underground fashion scene in the year 2046.
Have spent much time on sets and costumes and publicity material and the like. Hope some of you will be getting tickets!! :) :) :)

so sorry to hear abt ur dad... u must b strong, things will get better.Be optimistic and face it strongly! Every tommorrow will be a better and more hopeful one!

This is so deja vu...esp for the date todae.. 07-08...to read abt yas' dad.... many many yrs back this faithful dae...my grandma lost her battle w the cancerous cells... As much as I like 0807… n b 'fateful' w tt 4 nos… somehow.. the diff permutation give me extreme feelings..they are so similar and yet so different...

seems like this board is getting active again... had prb acessing it some time back...

btw.. cld i request u guys to post the url of ur journal, website.. photos gallery... blah blah ... on the board??... hope it's not too demanding... cos i jus upgraded hm pc.. no longer in my bookmark...n also easier for me to access in office.. hee...

dear all,

haven't been up here for a long time...

going through a really tough period right now.

my dad just had 3 major operations within a month. The doctors have confirmed that he has cancer and that the surgery couldn't completely remove all the bad cells. We were told that both radio and chemotherapy won't be effective, so we are against the idea of letting my dad go through both treatments.

I could still remember the night of my dad's third operation (on the 17th), the surgeon had told us tt it would only be a 3-hour op, but my dad wasn't out until 6 hours later. My mum and I were frantic, waiting outside the OT door. Right afterwards, my dad was sent to ICU unit. Even till today, images of my dad lying in ICU are still fresh in my mind. It was terrible to see my dad so helpless, strapped at both ankles and wrists, with tubes and needles poked into various parts of his body.

not going to tell the full story here...
right now, he is slowly on the road of recovery (although the cancer cells are still ard.) but at the very least, his life is out of danger, my family and I will just have to take a step at a time. We are thinking of taking him to Chinese physicians instead but that will happen only when he's fully recovered.

As for myself, I will be doing one more year of honours in NUS, and then probably do a specialisation coursework in masters overseas. A slightly different path from my fellow archi mates. I'll still be doing my internship and getting some working experience first before furthering my studies overseas. But tt will be a year later.

so that's abt all from me right now. Sorry but I really can't attend the outing this Fri. My family needs me to be ard at this time. yup.. so enjoy yourselves.

not sure if i am making sense in what i've typed at all. Can't seem to think properly these days.

Must confess... haven't been to the messageboard for ages...well nice to be back.

Spain was relaxing particularly in Madrid, cept that a group of overaged mischievious brit indians havent had better things to do on the flight back to london.

They started picking on the air stewardess and the row of young ladies behind them and then whilst the plane was 20000 ft in the air one of them inflated and burst his own lifejacket! I was rather annoyed thoughout the flight already and that explosive 'bang' was off the limit...everyone turned towards the source of the commotion and that dumbo thought he'd get away with it...then the plane landed and everyone was asked to remain in their seats. The police came up and gave them their after-flight complimentary butterflies in their stomach. Just desserts? It'll probably fill them till they go behind bars.

Anyway jianhao you should go barcelona to have a look at Gaudi's architectural works. They are the jewels of the city.

and huishi am sorry you couldnt make it for the french dessert crepes they are really very good...maybe next time?

Feeling a bit left behind reading Suyi's msg. We poor guys are still not even halfway into our studies....oh well, working life is when things get serious and meaningful i suppose. Wish you girls the best of luck in the working world!

yes.. i'm back in singapore..long time ago.. : )
have alreadi started work in nuh.. next week will be my 4th week there!! well, working life is pretty fun..like the independence and the freedom.but hate the responsibility!....btw..am i the first one to start work? huii, min, shir..and whoever..have u all start working as well??
i'm currently covering boths paediatrics and hands dept. , which means that i'm working with austistic children(my favourite!!) and also children with developmental delay, cerebral palsy, etc.. as for the hands dept, i'm seening patient with mainly fractures of the hands or ligaments tear.. still a lot to be learned..~sign~~taught that i can sort of take a break with all the studying..and is pretty shock to realised this only the beginning of "real" learning!!
anyway, hope to see u guys real soon..

so surprised to see the board do packed w recent msges... havn been online for q some time... ever since i sort of shift back hm frm hostel.... so dun haf unlimited access anymore.. haiz....

now m officially unemployed n been bumming ard....
wan to go travelling.... but sighh... mum is v paranoid abt the sars issue.... feel tt it's UNSAFE for me to travel .. so m stuck here!!!.. sigh.. cldn't even join hui n other bizaders for bintan last week man!!.. =((...

but some improvement..... m trying to psycho her everyday.. hopefully she will nod her head soon...jus hope the sars thing will improve... n i CAN LEAVE here.. grrrr...airfare all so cheap now!!!... i wan to travel!!!......

btw... think the best thing since after exams wld b ... i finally attained my driving license!!yay yay...after so many yrs... my motivation finally stuck me n i managed to do it within 4 mths.... =))
a little tai ko though.. i think... cos i striked kerb n turned wrong direction.. but i still passed w 16 pts!!!! hahaha....

pleasant surprise to see so many msges on e board since i last visited!

seems like everyone is busy busy... lotsa plans n stuff. yupz.. i'll be gg over to europe for abt 1 n half mths.. half mth touring n 1 mth as jh's live-in maid. hahahaa... j.. bak kut teh shouldn be a prob.. but i think i'll test it out once at home before i go over. n mee goreng is def no prob. just need chilli can liao. trust me.. i'm a not bad cook k.. altho not much practice. hahaha.... got recipe then anyth also can. =D

as for my schedule.. i'll be leaving on 13 may w yl n her bf. they will be coming back on 5june.. while i stay on in london . so i can go visit yilin, ad and stace. i'll only be back on 3 july. spending a super long time there.... feed on bread n instant noodles w jh. think i'll have to buy lotsa food over! hmm....

su.. i dun think i'll be able to see u liao.. till i'm back! will prob meet up w les n min n davey next week before i leave. maybe we shld try to organise some sort of a gathering.. hmm..

and yah.. i'm gg bintan over this long weekend. 2-room suite at angsana resort for only $160! so amazing n damn cheap. just had to grab it. hahaha...

Ad.... teletubby so cute, no insult!
Allowance shd cover ya even if food costs tt much??? I reckon you'll be carting back tonnes of food stuff like noodles, seasoning, rice, en masse when you come back during summer hols?
Jh too right?
1 kg of rice shd be able to last longlong time also. Fm what I remember, chicken is quite cheap. U can eat rice + chicken + rice + chicken + rice + chicken (throw in some baked beans when u are bored) to save lotsa $$$!! haha.

As for calculating, u know how horrible my math is. When i'm overseas with friends, i usually ask them to convert for me. In London, i just took pound multiply by 3 cos it was too hard otherwise. When I cldnt times by 3 (cos the no got too big for me), i wld take easy way out and times by 2 and add a bit. so unscientific rite.

speaking of food. shall cook myself campbell clam chowder soup now. hungry.

and oh yessss.......... congrats yasmine.... relieved, huh? you should tell us abt ur FYP sometime...

jh-congrates, thought u would like it if i broadcasted yr eventful essay completion.

me, well i realised that i will be extremely busy this week. how come, it seems really fast this last term before summer break as everything seems to be piled up in a heap at the end of it. have lots of workshops and details to iron out before putting out a few final pieces for my end of term kind of show, as its only the three of us this year, the onus is on us to do something good( and the fact that i intend to do sumting good as i simply hate the american visiting students...argh)

and dun ask me what i am doing, just the usual stuff...

haha.
oh well.
and les, i do eat more that chicken n rice k, and a kg of rice can last me merely a week by the way, i do eat rice everyday as bread is for breakfast can...

and u guys can ask jianhao lor, i do cook ok enuff food for myself and in the house, the girls i am staying with are amazing cooks...
just had some chengting too, home made. so glad i didnt need to fork out 2.5 pounds.

hi all... i came in here thinking that i will see huii msg as the latest and is plesantly surprise and well i guess i can say, delighted even, to note quite a few new entries..haha

adrain, havent hear from you for long long time..u grown thinner?..u look fine to me in the pics.. the one david put up..though it did take me a few seconds to regconise you cos' of the long hair..
hahah and yes maximising on a loaf of bread..other than spending time doing work for my clinical attachment, that's wat i trying to do most of the time- budgeting..hate doing it actually, walking up and down the supermarket trying to check out which brand of bread is the cheapest and trying to work out how long it will last.. ~sign~~but no choice, have to do this seen i intend to do quite a bit of shopping and touring ard!

will return to singapore on the 17th/18th i guess..unless there's no connecting flight from kl to singapore..(i'm taking malaysia airline)..heard quite a lots of flight cancelled..but havent check it out yet..and yes, we will meet up...
and hope the vegetable supply back in singapore return back to normal when i return..cant imagine lives without vege!!

hi all.

been sleeping really late and now i am virtually destroying my body clock by being wide awake and eating croissants with nutella and guess what...marmite...have i gone all weird i wonder.
anyway its nice to note that all seems to be fine with you guys back in singapore and suyi in oz, i been basically as lost as ever in london, not helped by the ever torrid climate as mentioned by jianhao and well figuring out the best way to kill time and maximise the duration of my weekly loaf of bread, not an enviable task i should add.

Hey Suyi.... so when will you be back? Let's do a get together when you come back.. it's been months since Xmas!

Minimal vegetables in the market today, my mum said, cos the Pasir Panjang warehouse is closed due to SARs. Not that i really mind, heh. What I do mind is the tonnes of depressing news in the papers everyday. Especially about the airline industry - even SIA might retrench? I wonder if the number of firms seeking pupils this year is gonna be halved.

It's rather easier to close my mind down to a smaller perspective, a narrower view of my world, my work, school, exams - than to think about what's going on around the world. So depressing. Am I depressing you already?

sounds so cool! we're in our last few weeks here in nus.. for those graduating..ie. shir min n me. hmm.. yah.. only e 3 of us. i will def be working.. so i guess i'll be e first to start work. it's exciting n yet scary. been in sch e whole life.

sars hasn't affected me. much. still watch movies.. still go to sch etc etc. cept when someone sneezes or coughs, everyone retreats a few steps. hahaha! n stopped clubbing liao.. i think tats v unsafe. but o/w.. life goes on as usual.

wheee.... it was a really nice night we had. Dinner at CPK (bistro) and then taking the river taxi to Boat Quay (Just like tourists!!) and capping it all off with a drink at South Bridge over some jazzzz..........

no more drinking stamina. I was whoozy. there. but it's ok. I have new year's resolution to be a good girl the year ahead. When I was in Shanghai, I finished this book called "colours of the mountain" (bryan bought it for me). About this landlord's son who had to struggle to make it to and thru sch post-Cultural Revolution. It makes me feel like i'm a total bum who hasnt appreciated what's been placed on my platter.

New year resolutions, everyone! :)

I've been burrowed head and toe in my books (well, when i'm not sleepin, tt is) but i'll be free for a mth in 2 wk's time. learn learn learn! it's times like this when i'm supposed to hit the books when i start feelin super interested in so many other things.. i want to learn japanese proper, to rollerblade again, to play tennis..... etcetc. u get the drift.

generally, life is good. no complaints. oh, and i want to learn to ride a bike. borrow lenco's bike.

Hmm..looks like everyone here's having a fair share of fun. Me here, in Ny, been bogged down by tons and tons of homework. I know it's hard to believe, but i've picked up 4 programs (final cut pro, flash, dreamweaver, and imageready) in the short time I've been back. It's such a leap from the sophomore year. Been busy with shoots, and projects, almost got an internship at Time magazine within Time warner but they found out that i need an OPT pass to work there since i'm an international student. but it all turned out as a blessing in disguise as i wouldn't have been able to cope with such a heavy workload.
one thing that i participated that i thought was really meaningful for me was the anti-war demonstration at central park on oct 6. I did some postcards that were printed out for distribution and they were addressed to hillary clinton and gov george pataki. It was amazingly satisfying to see the instant gratitude on the faces after they read these postcards and pple actually wanted them! That was my first demonstration, and somehow how i felt proud of being there. haha..it felt like i actually contributed to the world. oh dear...a rebel in the making...not good.

Life's great. But work is really getting over my head. But it seems that work and relaxation is given equal weightage here..maybe thats why it is that little bit less stressful and makes for a better learning environment maybe...

I was sitting at dinner with this very attractive lady today. She is half greek and half peruvian and she has very beautiful facial features. It would be so nice if she could model for a portrait, the drawing will turn out to be an admiration of her looks...i was mesmerized. Anyway she could speak french german italian spanish greek and english and i am not sure what peruvians speak as well. She was studying civil engineering here at Imperial. I thought she might be better of as a linguist with her gift..

and yes j i am fine thank you. I haven't heard from peikang though.

my scholarship results will be out after the 15th. so by next week i will be a free man i hope. at least by then i know what i will have to do for the next few months.

wow.. reading all these msgs really make me wish that i am over in uk as well...poor me still stuck here in singapore... ~~sob~. and i'm suppose to go sydney for my upcoming attachment but due to some administrative delays..it is postpone to april...hai.. and i look so forward to going alreadi..so now i have to satisfied myself with kk hospital...which my school goes thru' great trouble to get me this placement as well because it is too last minute.....

a liitle bit more update on my life...have just finish my exams and this coming week will be a break week for me before i go kk for my next placement. a 2 mths placement.trying to do some readings to prepare myself for my paediatric placement.and praying that i wont get burn-out in kk as its renowned for its high workload
will go down to esplanade tmlo to explore the place!! :) haha.. havent been there yet...
and currently checking out all the uk schools as well...thinking of doing my degree conversion over there..... and so far i think glassglow caledonia u. has the best offer..also looking at art threapy courses..but most are post graduate courses that required a degree in fine art..still searching..

so that's it..my life at this point in time...... : )
normal..simple..nothing out of the blue...but.quite comfortable actually...
haha though i wish for a bit more excitment..

anyway..

an update on what i've been doing..nothing exactly exciting..i'm looking forward to a few gigs..but i've yet checked out what's happening..

'drian, keep me posted on whatever that sounds interesting...i didn't know u're into sigur ros as well..i've been looking into post-rock and ambient stuff for hte past year..and a little experimental stuff...you got to check out matmos/four tet/pole if you haven't already..i think u'll be particularly intrigued by the first..like your jap friends with the performative art/music thingy... they pick up sounds from everyday life and make a montage of it with obscure but catchy rhythms...i had a taste of that sort of thing at this sound fest in may.

i have to agree with you that fabric's really fucking fantastic...you could feel the vibration generated by the bass on the ground metres away from the entrance..in the club..i felt, at several moments,...that my heart could possibly stop..i haven't clubbed in a good place for a year or so..think the energy's coming back...went to a sleazy club in stoke newington a few days ago with my housemate..there are a million dodgy greeks/turks (god bless me, i'm not against any nationality in particular) lurking around....well, what can you expect from a salsa club..i'm really not into this shit..was a complete waste of my time/money. but stoke newington's a cool place alright..

i'm going to brighton for a free mag launch cuz my friend's bf's band is gonna have a gig there..and i'm gonna have free accommodation...will try to call you before i go...

Hi David,

Actually this interview is only the first interview as there will be another shortlist for the final interview in September. After today's interview, you have made it to the final round of interview where the recommendation Committee will interview you again. The final results will be sometime in October as the results of the final
interview will be sent to Takashimaya in Tokyo for their selection and approval on the recommendation. I will let you know of the date of the final interview.

sorry for the LATE reply!!! anyway, my phone is spoilt again.. so for the moment, can't receive any sms...

anyway, the schedule of the Aki pple are absolutely packed.. been working non-stop since Week Zero n it's only Week 4? or week 5? can't remember.. seems like a year. Our final submission for project one is coming soon and this week is our preparation week. Think the rest of the girls are staying overnight in the studio for most days. I am so caught up with my own studio project that I don't even get to see them around... (even though I am in school from 9am to 9pm everyday.. yes.. including sundays.. ever since school started.) Year 3 is pure HELL...

*phew* beentrying to post a message here but cannot leh. maybe there's something wrong with my computer at home. posting this in sch now.

chalet: its this weekend right? why JH pick me? is it because i live in the east? the reutrn of DL service ( as shirley would call it last time when we stay at jianwen's place in tampines) do sms me and let me noe what you guys will be needing.

Bursary: i never get le. scholarship never get, bursary also never get. lousy right? i am just curious how many overseas bursary do they hand out this year. today's paper says they give out 94, but i dunno how many are for overseas one. don't think there's alot. anyway, i am scheduled for the nac/takashimaya scholarship interview this coming monday, so pray for me i will be second time lucky.

the next wave: PLEASE PEOPLE! COME AND SUPPORT ME! its next weekend 31 aug 8pm free seating at the university cultural centre. this year you all will get to see more of me, i think. please come come! tixs at $15. buy from me this coming weekend when u all see me okie?

I saw Sinming in Arts Canteen today so I sat down and we had a little chat. Saw some of his work framed and bubblewrapped. He's gonna have his own exhibition (again) from Sept1 onwards, in the central library. Probably worth checking out. Airpainting, he's been doing. Let's call him out in future we want to do outdoor painting.
Hey... U guys painted in stadium cove eventually??

I sat in for Jap lang lecture this morning. Had to learn how to write the japanese characters. it was good fun. But quite funny to see how obedient everyone in the lecture theatre was. Reading and reciting after the lecture. Just like Primary Sch Days!

yeah..its time for the weekly update again.

went for the nac bursary interview on tuesday afternoon. was neatly dressed for the 'occasion' - white long sleeve shirt, grey pants and grey tie- never looked so smart b4. even took a cab from tampines down to mita buliding so as to prevent me from pespirating. and when i reached there, there were 3 people b4 me still waiting for their turn - 2 malay guys and this chinese girl. they were classmates and from either lasalle or nafa. all of them going to australia. anyway, when i reached there, the girl diao me okie? coz they were all in jeans and t shirts! (a sleeve top for that girl) can still remember the mockery look in her face. so irritating. :P one of the guys was wearing slippers somemore. but i was so nervous at that moment i couldnt care less.

anyway, i am quite sure that girl just crumbled and died inside then interview room coz it was INTIMIDATING! there were 10 interviewers sitting around the conference room, with you at one side of the table. each had a huge stack of application forms in front of them, and when they started flipping through my application forms, essay and letters the moment i sat down.... followed by numerous qns and qns.... :P so scary. asked me why i chose goldsmiths... and wnat i wanna do after i grad. but i dun think i stand a good chance lah... they seemed me impressed with my design stuff than fine art stuff ( of course ... what fine art stuff i have in the first place? ) so... there goes....

keeping my fingers crossed. the results will prob be out in aug, and meanwhile i am preparing myself for the nac/taka interview. havent heard anything from them yet, but since they asked me to go for this fine art bursary interview, they better get me down for the taka design scholarship as well. at least i have an idea of how it is like... and hopefully i will do well and better for the next one ( if i get to go for the interview that is)

anyway, went to help out ms yeo at the conference hall this afternoon. so proud of ms yeo... nj 3 golds okie? no ohter schs got all gold leh.. or 3 golds. nj best ah! she submitted a fashion design and 2 installations... quite surprised they got gold.. coz if u see the works, they are not visually 'beautiful', as compared to the numerous esquisite batiks and colourful paintings around. but i guess the 3 works have very strong concept and srtistic statement, thats why they got gold.

was help one of the girls hanging her installation. i realise they are such perfectionists. i remembered 2 years ago me and adrian were at art museum also and we didnt spend much effort hanging jinahao's cat. but i tell u ah.. i help those 2 girls till i wanna vomit blood. ms yeo was like there (physically)but not there(mentally). she was sooo tired helping them hang the stuff up. hmm... sometimes i think they should juz aga aga more instead of trying to replicate what they did back in sch. haha.. or i think i was juz too lazy.

helping them with their project reminded me of the 5 tj yr 2s i am helping. i so swear mr lim put a curse on me when i dropped project in yr 2, coz 3 years later i have to do 5 times the work. :P there's this 2 girls doing batik, but after looking at the syf works, some of the sec 4 o level projects batik are soooo good. dunno how they can match or surpass those at a level standard. maybe lesley can help ah?! *hint hint*

hmm...... headache. anyway, the syf is on tmrw till 1 aug. at singapore conference hall, walking distance from tanjong pagar mrt. me going tomorrow again. :P with the tj yr ones.

HOw: Yio Chu Kang MRT. Take bus 70 frm the terminal. The ride is abt 10-15 mins. Press the bell when you pass this big cross junction, under a flyover(the CTE & SLE one).It's rather prominent cos the journey before that will be a pretty long straight road. Serenity Park is just opposite the bus stop. It's a low, yellow n green condo among the private housing. Give me a call if u need help to enter through the back gate.

As for people who are driving, it shld be pretty easy. Cos it's just at the exit of SLE.
But hehe... u might encounter some difficulty finding the correct right turn to the main gate. Just dun turn too early, otherwise u might end up directly opposite my unit!... =p...

i guess perhaps it will b easier if i arrange someone to meet u guys @ yck mrt?.. but tt's provided u guys r punctual... grrr....

it might sound diff to get there... but actually it's not la... hope to see u guys there...

hello people. time for the monthly update.

juz got a call from nac yesterday. they asked me down for an interview on the 9th july, but if i hear correctly its for the nac bursary and not the nac-shell scholarship. so i guess i can kiss good bye to my $100,000. hmm... but i still do my best lah. the bursary is $8000 to $15,000 per year renewable upoon each year. cannot get the $100,000 but $15,000 will also do right? dunno lah... see how. wait for them to send me the notification letter.

juz submitted my nac-taka scholarship application form yesterday also. see how it goes lah... juz trying for EVERYTHING.

anyway, i juz got a job reliefing teaching art at temasek jc. the art teacher is going on maternity leave from mid aug till sept so i will have to stand in for her. very excited abt it. will be going down tj in july to get to know the students and do my own stuff also. :)

okie...thats all for now. theorically i should spend time to do up my portfolio coz the interview is juz more than a week away. but u know me lah.... too lazy to do anything. maybe i should start doing some stuff if i really wanna get the $$$..

It's really nice to see your old friends doing well. Its so amazing how time just goes by so unknowingly. Time will make architects, lawyers, artistic directors, designers, engineers, teachers and who knows what, out of us and before long 10 years will past. Now is but the beginning...

And it only seems like yesterday that we were all cooped up in that art block rushing to finish our project and pulling our hair in frustration....almost 3 years since then. That makes us friends for 5 years already...hmm

Hey guys, I've got it. Yes the scholarship. I've got it.

There is this part of me that is telling me, "hey jianhao be humble... be modest... keep quiet!"

But I over- ruled it.I want to say," Jianhao, xin ku ni le...xin ku le" This first half of the year hasn't been easy, especially the period before I made up my mind to go for it. The admin headaches and the monetary issues were all my daily experiences.

Huishi knows it. She knows that it has been a while since I last felt joy. Indeed, now i am embedding myself in the sea of joy, relief and gratitude which I do not wish to get out of. The sense of gratitude emcomposses what I feel towards u all as well.. just look thru the msges.

How does one define the sensation of 'loss'?

I don't really like travelling, not as in sightseeing that sort of travelling but the physical motion of travelling thru time and space.How bizzare? I went thru the entire sequent of cycle of light and darkness, twice, in my 26 hours flight.Boontat told me that a person who travels at the speed of the plane frequently, tends to look younger. For every 1000 long distance flights, you will regain ya youth by one second. The set back is probably the need to suffer through the surreal state that I think I am in now.

The time is now a quarter to six. She woke up at half five and was in the kitchen since then. How biazzare? A decade ago, she was doing the same thing in the morning but for her three kids who were attending school. Tirelessly, she has been in the routine for years and probably many more years to come. Oh she's waking my sister up now. For work. She has indeed aged a little.

The results for the scholarship is still not out yet. I mean the decision is made but it hasn't been released beacuse the school's finacial department has yet to submit their budget report. This anxiety has died down and numbed the hope in my heart. Not that there is no chance but I just want to place myself in reality so that I will not get injure deeply when the result is released in a couple of days(?) Thanks suyi and yue fang anyway. I know all of u share my anxiety.

Sorry Huishi, can't be there for your party...i can imagine you all having fun there! Will miss all of it though...sigh but rest assured you'll get your present but at a later date.

My knee is still swollen after the op. I have been trying to walk but the level of pain goes really deep into the joint, something i haven't experienced before. Have to rely on crutches. Funny feeling now. Stuck at home. I will get better. Test of my patience tho.

Dun ask me abt what happened, but the scholarship results is still not out.. the anticipation is killing me....wah kao... I shall not talk abt it anymore

I called hs just now.. hope u had a pleasant 21th birthday..did the call came as a surprise? ha

Things are not going smoothly for the search of the accommodation.... I have applied to numerous hostel. some replybut mostly put me on their waiting list.. the one mostkeen to accept me can only offer me a double room.. sigh... look like i cannot settle it before return.

nigel has just finished exams. went punting down the river just now. trust me it's not easy. and now i'm trying to type without looking at the keyboard now. it is also not easy.

the results for the scholarship will be released on the 13th of june. keep u all updated okie.

well...the sentosa trip..hmmm..not a very " sucessful" one..spent oni like 10min in the water...but its ok... think i have a lot of good laughs..it still making me smile when i think of yesterday...first its the lady with the 27 oranges...then the trip round sentosa twice..playing cards at the beach...eating jianhao"s food for the whole day..the "near-death" experience at isetan hahhaa....
and i got a new pair of sandals!!!

The weather these few days seems a little playful...a moment its bright and shiny and when you step out the door it starts to rain....

Hopefully the weather doesn't play tricks on Sunday. Since everyone will be at jianhao's place tomorrow we can discuss what to do the next morning...

Yeah!! Monday night and i'll be flying to japan!! holiday...ironman...relaxation...celebration for finally having served 2 and a half years for the country....its amazing how time flies when you are in the military. Everyday passes so routinely kinda lose track of time altogether...Ironman race is on the 12th. Hope after swimming 3.8km cycling 180km and running 42km i'll still be able to walk around Nagasaki. My dad will be my photographer taking down the action on digital cam. Will be happy to show you guys the pics when i get back..

n yup dave me also dunno what time to be there n lazy to call.....

I am so lucky to be able to type here again...almost lost my life today....

Was cycling happily down east coast...spinning at ard 30km/h till suddenly this space wagon stopped righted in my path and within the short span of time i couldn't brake or swerve out in time....it was like the car or the ixora bush by the roadside and i ...said to myself.."Oh SHIT!!!" next thing i felt was relief that i was still alive but in a pretty awkward uncomfortable stuck in the bush pose...

Now i realised its tough being a crash dummy...to absorb all that impact at high speed.....boy my nerves were really shattered man....so was my dear bike...i realised my oakley shades were smash proof as well...me having tested it for full frontal collision in my face...phew could have lost my sight too..

Well 2nd bike accident i had in my lifetime...hope u guys be careful dun be as "sway" as me. I hope i dun need another 7 like a cat.

Me went to a digital photography seminar today by Ian Lloyd some famous National geographic photographer...saw many of his nice works makes me want to take up digital photography as well...so interesting

learnt some tricks of his trade using the digital cam from sony.

not bad..his focus was on asia...the landscape of people and culture...pretty inspiring to see the point of view of an ang moh on us asians.

btw tomorrows my big Biathlon.....hope i don't paiseh myself...

wish me luck!

sigh...hate that nervous tension...tink i better go sleep.

Hvnt had much time for breather since I came home, it seems. very tired a lot of times... Just struggled to keep awake to watch a webcast lecture.. i still owe 4!! it's almost 3am, too.
Next week got advocacy trials.. tt'll be nerve wrecking, for sure.

Anyways. I really enjoyed the trip to UK although it wasnt really a 'holiday' .. how was the SH trip? Let's trade stories in due time....

just came back from Shanghai yesterday. School field trip. Yanling went to the same place as well.

It was freezing cold there!!! But I've had a great time there.

how's it going? lesley is here with me..we're having a good time...lotsa chill-out sessions in my bedroom..and a fantastic wild shopping spree yesterday at campden market...which left both of us guilty and penniless.

to assuage all feelings of guilt, we went for the best roast duck ever in the world at bayswater.....according to lesley, the experience was orgasmic and left both of us panting for more.

we're going for the andy warhol exhibition at tate modern today and let's hope it will be worth our 8 pounds! ($20)...

option 1: sumptuous dinner at authentic chinese reataurant along tanjong pagar road, followed by jalan jalan at the night market in chinatown! maybe late night supper at food street (chinatown) or maxwell market

option 2: not so sumptuous streamboat dinner at marina, then we go river hong bao 2002 to jalan jalan. we can end the night with late night coffee at cityhall.

option 3: i dunno liao. anymore suggestions?

haha.. i am such a slacker. volunteer to organise i can onli think of FOOD and shopping. what else can we do? KARAOKE?

Hi guyz,

HOW ARE YOU?! heard u had a good time...and 'read' about your x'mas adventures...new year as well...are you guyz back in school?

this is the first week of school for me and i have for the first time, decided it's time to work harder and be more active in school.. ..but we'll see if that'll happen.

good news...might be able to get unlimited internet access from my laptop (hence in my room in the hall) in 'bout 2 or 3 weeks time..this means i would be spending more time on icq and would be able to at least communicate with you guyz...

went skiing in the french alps..didn't break any legs (thank goodness)...it was great fun but it was freaking freezing (-20 degrees)..and french food is FANTASTIC.. english food's the worst on earth..i've been salivating at the thought of curry puffs, laksa..etc etc....and proper indian curry! i miss singaporean food!...how can curry ever taste good with raisins? (ask the English)
